The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been busy at work again this week, producing the usual excellent array of articles and tables to help with our planning for Gameweek 4.

The hot topics, meanwhile, have ranged from short-term absentees to Liverpool assets and everything in between.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Celt Abroad kicked off the Gameweek 3 reaction with a look at the possible replacements for Richarlison, who was sent off in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

With Richarlison in mind, Gregor asked if we should sell or keep our short-term absentees and looked at the new suspension rules.

Our regular “Rough with the Smooth” thread turned up the usual success stories and horror tales, while flaming_iles discussed his own excellent start using the RMT tool.

DortmundisLove revealed the past statistics that don’t bode well for defence-heavy teams, meanwhile.

The discussion about Liverpool assets continued, with Rainer looking at the Reds’ fixtures in between the two international breaks.

Legomane floated his method of combating the impact of price falls, while RedLightning examined the overall FPL leader’s early chip usage.

The Gameweek 4 planning started with tambourineman‘s round-up of the weekend’s referees, before G-Whizz gave his weekly clean sheet probabilities, match odds and “Doosra stats”.  We also speculated on the breakout players of this coming Saturday/Sunday.

Jekori highlighted the excellent Fulham/West Ham rotation, while Reckoner looked at the best £4.5m midfielders. On the subject of budget assets: what do we do with blister victim Danny Ings?

Concerning the site itself, Benster gave some frank comments on the Scoutcast while we had a live Hall of Fame update for the first time this season.

Finally, there was a fond farewell to Niemi as a mod – but a warm welcome to Rotation’s Alter Ego.

Community Tables

Among the many, many fine tables created this week were the following efforts:

beans_on_toast

sun_jihai

drewshape

Keep your tables coming in for inclusion in our weekly round-up, with a title and description always appreciated to explain the purpose of the statistical analysis.

Community Articles

There were more super scribblings from the Community this week.

Hutch_James provided another excellent Wisdom of the Crowd, FPL Paulius looked at Gameweek 4 captains and Greyhead examined the fortunes of some elite FPL managers.

Community Tournaments

RedLightning continued his impressive start to the season to consolidate his lead at the top of the FFS Mods and Cons league. Chris James crept above TorresMagic into second, meanwhile.

1. RedLightning – 270 points
2. Chris James – 252 points
3. TorresMagic – 238 points
4. Ragabolly – 232 points
5. Geoff – 229 points

Scott Macalister is the new leader of our public FantasyFootballScout league – and has done it all without using a chip. Scott is actually tied with Cosmin Rotaru and Warren Lim (who are joint-second) but has made fewer transfers.

1. Scott Macalister – 277 points
2=. Warren Lim – 277 points
2=. Cosmin Rotaru – 277 points
4. Jasem Alturki – 276 points
5. Andy Parsons – 274 points

Nick Howard still leads the FFS Members league. Having played his Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 1, he followed that up with a Wildcard in Gameweek 2 and is now ranked 28th in the world. Our very own moderator RedLightning is also up to third.

1. Nick Howard – 281 points
2. Ryan Brazell – 271 points
3. RedLightning – 270 points
4. Graeme Bye – 269 points
5. Luke Pickering – 268 points

Meanwhile, Andrew Garland is the new leader of RedLightning‘s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, three points ahead of the league’s creator. Pete Bullingham and Francisco Lamarque are actually tied in third.

1. Andrew Garland – 273 points
2. RedLightning – 270 points
3=. Pete Bullingham – 266 points
3=. Francisco Lamarque – 266 points
5. Luke Aiello – 259 points

    For the next 3GW:
    a) Bilva to Mkhi
    b) Bilva to Sigurdsson
    c) Keep Bilva and not bring Aguero

    I'm almost sure that Siggy would bring many points

      A hand here would be appreciated!

      Team is:
      Patricio-Hamer
      Mendy-Robertson-A.Smith-Duffy-AWB
      Salah-Mane-Bilva-Richarlison-Billing
      Aguero-Zaha-Wilson
      1ft 1.3itb

      The plan was to do Rich->Walcott/Pedro for free but now thinking maybe do mane->hazard for free instead? Or maybe both for a hit?

        2FTs would of been lovely for you. Ridiculous to ditch Mane for a hit to be honest.

        Just do the former, and I’d go Walcott fixture wise but both could easily do aswell as each other this week.

      G2G?

      Pickford
      PvA, Luiz, VvD, Mendy
      Mkhi, Mane, Bilva
      Zaha, Aguero, Firmino

      Bench : Hamer, Richarlison, Jorginho, Tarkowski

      Or should I probably make use of that free transfer by getting Richarlison out for someone, maybe?

      Did Aguero, Moura, Walcott and Neves in for Firmino, Rich, Cairney and Jota early this week, leaving me sitting on -12. Was planning on playing on my wild card but not pressed it yet.

      Would you? Or take the (big) hit and save it for another day?

        Keep. Those 4 you brought in could easily outscore the 4 out by 12, but assuming you're playing all four of them

      Going to c+p a post I made yesterday about triple captaining Aguero seeing as though I've seen the qn come up a lot tonight:

      For those considering TC Aguero this week.... even if DGW has burnt you in the past, at least wait till you see what the fixtures might be like in them. If none look that good and you want to go with a SGW, there will still be plenty of games towards the end of the season that are plum home fixtures.

      GW33 has City (H) vs Cardiff and Spurs (H) vs Brighton
      GW26 has Liverpool (H) vs Bournemouth also gw36 Liv (H) vs Hudds

      that's just to name some of the big ones past GW24...might be more that I missed or even a few more in earlier GWs. So there really is no rush to find a good SGW fixture if you don't want to use a DGW.

      Squad as follows with 2FT and £0.9m ITB:

      Foster Fabianksi
      Robertson Mendy PVA AWB Peltier
      Salah Mane Bilva Richarlison Stephens
      Aguero Arnie Ings

      Thoughts on the following for a -4:

      Salah -> Hazard
      Peltier -> Alonso
      Richarlison -> Mkhi

      Opinions appreciated!

      I have up to 5 million to buy a defender, already have robbo, alonso, tomkins and awb.. who should I buy? This defender might just be a one week punt as I’m not sure whether to wildcard over the break yet or not.. but could be used until the second IB if my WC is in tact

      Thinking tarkowski or should I go for an Everton defender like holgate / zouma

      Got three minor issues for my FT this week:

      1. Peltier to Bennett to prevent the value loss
      2. Begovic to Etheridge cos he's a better source of points (Hamer is my other keeper)
      3. Grey to Wilson cos Grey is getting hooked early every game
      4. Save

        Cos Salah scored over 300 points last year, and demonstrated he was virtually fixture proof. And Liverpool scored goals against the big teams. And hazard is a troll.

        I have both

          Why is Hazard a troll ? How do you define a troll ?
          A commonly used phrase when someone makes a pick at the wrong time .

        Already have Hazard with Salah... I might consider taking Salah out after the Spurs game for Kane, but if Salah scores points in the next 2 games then there's no chance I'm getting rid.

        Decided against salah in my wildcard. (See below) I am bricking it to be fair but I would only captain him once in next 5 games which makes him too expensive IMO

        Because Salah scored 3 goals against each of Leicester, Tottenham and Southampton last season. He scored in all of the 6 games too. Salah's mantra has always been consistency, so I'm reluctant to think that he's worse this season than last when he's getting at least 8 points every game.

            I mean generally rather than Newcastle specifically. Either player could do well or blank v Newcastle in a once off game. But I presume the move is more looking at long term rather than one match hence a logical move imo

        Mitro was in mine already before the hype.... But I've now brought in Groß. I think it's time for him to remind FPL players that he will get points whenever Brighton get points. Was considering Lingard too

          That option has crossed my mind several times this week but I intended playing Cairney and he's also out this weekend. Other subs to come in are either Kamara or Doherty who both seem like pointless options this week!

      Ok mixing it up from the templates and taking a couple of punts. What do you reckon;

      Ryan (button)
      Alonso Mendy WanBiss (holebas Bennett)
      Haz Salah Maddison Milivojevic (Cairney)
      Aguero Tosun Mitrovic

        I don't like Milivo to be honest as he was only really special before as a 4.5 mil pen taker. I would downgrade Cairney to say Stephens and upgrade Milivo.

      When you look at big chances created and conceeded then surely Bournemouth stand a good chance of getting something out of the Chelsea game. In particular a Wilson goal or two..
