I don’t think anyone can give you a good answer to this question. Listen to your gut feeling on this one. Can be a failure, but also a brilliant move.

Don’t see it being a brilliant move at all bro. Even an aguero hat trick is only a 14-17 point swing on people who have captained him.

Newcastle’s coach in front of the goal will make a hat trick unlikely but do expect him to score.

People will say no, but DGWs are often a dud and he won’t get a better fixture to haul in than NEW.

If you want to do it, then go for it. Asking on here won’t help.

          Home to HUD?! Oh wait...

“Couldn’t have a better fixture”. I wasn’t aware Rafa Benetiz teams had the same propensity to concede like a Marco Silva team.

I don’t even understand your rationale for playing it. The probabilities vs a DGW make no sense. That doesn’t mean Aguero can’t score big but the probabilities are skewed towards doubles. Because Aguero once got 5 vs a different line up under different circumstances does not mean he will score 5 every time he plays Newcastle.

DGW come late in the season, usually intertwined with CL fixtures and rotation is very likely so in terms of minutes played i think DGW are a gamble as well

Wilson not even up for debate

Only on this site will any one advise you to play AWB over one of the attackers ( king Wilson etc) absolutely ridiculous imo.

Aye. Always back the attacker otherwise what’s point in owning him may aswell stick 4.5 fodder Kamara in and use the 1million to improve the starting 11

This. Especially given Chelsea look suspect at the back and Bournemouth won there 3-0 last season. I don’t expect Bournemouth to win but surely Bournemouth must have a decent shout to score.

Repost from a few pages ago, but I think it's a coin toss, but it seems that the odds very slightly favor AWB.

      ...and the tl;dr part

Let's assume that both play 60+minutes. The math without bonuses slightly favors Wilson (values from bookies except for cards, which are based on history)

      - AWB chance for CS 38 %, goal 7 % (2+ goals 0,7 %), assist 10 %, 2+ goals against 29 %, 4+ goals against 6 %, YC 10 %, RC 10 %, = expected FPL points without bonuses 3.65
      - Wilson chance for a goal 30 %, 2+ goals 7 %, assist 14 %, YC 12 %, RC 0%, = expected FPL points without bonuses 3.77

However, if you factor in bonuses, I think AWB nudges slightly ahead. Wilson has historically earned 0.43 bonus points per 90 minutes played (and only 1 bonus point this year despite 2 G + 3 A in 3 games), but as it is more likely that CPL keeps a CS than Wilson scores and AWB has the assist potential, I think he's slightly more likely to end up with bonuses. The bonuses in the CHE-BOU game most likely go to Alonsos and Hazards.

I'm not a stat man mate but cheers for posting. I feel this is a tad overthinking. Palace look like they have no Tomkins ( not in the training pics) so I fear for AWB ability to keep a cs. I'll always go with the attacker over defender ( Maybe Alonso , Trippier etc would be the exception) but I do feel that assist that AWB got in the first game has got to people. He's just a nice 4.0 player who plays for an average defensive side to have on the bench for me. He's very late with tackles and a bit reckless from what I've seen with my own eyes. Yc always a good possibility has to be factored in

I really appreciate your analysis of the situation. As I'm not really good at analyzing the game, I pretty much only follow the numbers and bookie odds on scores. And in my mind Chelsea equals Mourinho/Terry at Stamford Bridge, but the story is a bit different nowadays :-).

Just to comment on the always go with the striker rule - I've always played with 3 strikers (3-4-3 usually), but was burned by this strategy last year and this year I've been toying with the idea of varying the formations or going with only one premium striker at least until I get the RV up. I know that the N is really small and it's mostly just variance, but this year, of the players with 20+ FPL points, 8 are defenders, 9 mids, 3 forwards and 1 GK. I've told myself that this comes both from formation changes where guys like Salah get a free reign and BPS rules, which favor mids and defenders.

It seems that the money and betting public share your analysis, and the odds are getting shorter on Wilson scoring in the Chelski game.

No problem and it's good to hear an opinion and different way of looking at it from your perspective too. I think ever since day 1 of playing I've gone with the attacker over defender strategy but the increase in wing backs ( defenders becoming attacking midfielders) is a reasonable way of looking at it . I don't tend to worry about fixtures too much either. Chelsea have been a bit of a mess at the back.. Bou have been scoring. Could go either way but I do feel the attacker in this case has the higher upside. It's also a bit more fun watching an attacker hoping he scores rather than waiting for a CS that could be over in a couple of mins...not that this would affect my reasoning though

I’m not one for past results - totally different games, line ups and circumstances do not predict the future - but Bournemouth did win 3-0 at Chelsea this season. And Chelsea are not good defensively.

          Past fixtures are completely irrelevant.

Form and this season is where it’s at, Bournemouth doing great, Chelsea not the best at the back and neither are Bournemouth expect goals galore.

emery still experimenting a little bit but guendouzi has looked a good player so far. not nailed on i'd say, but likely to play. torreira lurking on the bench but guendouzi was the better player than xhaka so xhaka more likely to be dropped if torreira comes in imo

Why is everybody dropping Liverpool assets. I understand mane > hazard if you can afford but going down to 0 players of one of the best teams in the league (attackingwise and defensively) seems madness.
Leicester could be a good win, no Mahrez or Vardy

100% agree, lots moving out Robertson, Firminio and Mane due to fixtures but surely Liverpool are contenders for the title...….I don't see the same theory being applied to Spurs, Man City and Chelsea...….??? also the Hazard move is weird as he has only completed one 90 minute game ?? ……..oh well....

      I agree.

Robortson and Salah aint going nowhere.
Did Mané -> Hazard due to fixtures the next many GW's.

Also I kinda like owning 2 players and not 3 players from a team this early. Makes it a bot easier to adapt when we know more.

City: Mendy + Agüero (can get a midfielder in later on if someone is more nailed than atm)
Pool: Robertson + Salah (can get another one in after the tougher fixtures)
Che: Alonso + Hazard (if Pedro hold his spot the next few weeks I can get him in)

    Patricio
    Luiz - Mendy - TAA
    Salah - Mane - Walcott - Mkhi
    Mitro - Zaha - Aguero(C)
    Foster - AWB - Fraser - Peltier
    G2G? or AWB over TAA?

People also want Salah , Hazard and Kun who are all captaincy candidates . Can’t have them all but let’s see what happens after his first brace/hat trick

Id rater have Kane than Hazard for the season, so I think its bizarre that most is wildcarding him in now for a couple of good fixtures. Possible to have a descent team with Kane, Kun and Salah

On WC, worth taking a 1 week punt on Murray or just go straight for Wilson who is my intended target for the coming weeks? Seems risky bringing a player in for 1 week only as other issues are bound to arrive in squad.

G2G? Or should I play Wan-B over Ings?

    Hennessey
    Alonso-Mendy-Robertson
    Salah-Mane-B.Silva-Walcott
    Aguero(c)-Zaha-Ings

    Bench: Hamer-Wan-Bissaka-Hudson Odoi-Peltier

Mane to Haz for a hit?

    Fab
    Robertson, Mendy, Alonso
    Salah, Mane, Bilva, Fraser
    Aguero, Arnie, Ings

    (Foster, WB, Stephens, Peltier)

Whats your reasoning? I’m seeing Mane subbed on 60 minutes with 3 points, and Haz scoring a brace.

    Finding this so tough:

Is it worth having Alonso, Mendy, Robertson...

Or are there more points if I downgrade Robertson and upgrade my midfield...

    1. Robertson and Moura
    2. Holebas (or 4.7 and below) and D.Silva
