More names from our panel of Fantasy Premier League managers are back to answer your questions, this time as we go into the first international break of the campaign.

The big question which we’ve had plenty of submissions on is whether Mohamed Salah (£13.om) should come out of our squads.

We’ve got some opinion on that conundrum while the subjects of transfers during the international break and Wildcard tips are also discussed.

Once again, we had an overwhelming response to our request for questions. Unfortunately, we can only answer a handful each week but keep your queries coming in for the rest of the season.

Here’s a reminder of who is on the panel for your Gameweek 4 Question Time:

James Egersdorff – You can’t get much more experienced than this man when it comes to FPL. After yet another season inside the top 5,000 managers in 2017/18, James is a Fantasy Football Scout ‘Hall of Fame’ legend.

Tom from Who Got the Assist? – One half of one of the fastest growing FPL podcasts of recent times.

Holly Shand – Founder of the popular Fantasy Football Community website and recent video star for Official FPL.

QUESTION ONE – JAMES EGERSDORFF

Do we have enough information to be reasonably sure that Mane provides a better points return over Salah and if so, should we be looking to move Salah on?

James: “The lack of a double-digit return from the ‘Egyptian King’, combined with the smoking hot start to the season from Mané has led many FPL managers (myself included!) to investigate the possibility of doing the unthinkable and removing Salah from our squads.

“As a pre-Gameweek 4 Wildcarder, it’s fair to say the idea of cashing in on Salah did look attractive. I spent the week tinkering with my squad given with treasure trove of riches his £13m opened up. It looked like a combination of Mané and Hazard versus Salah and a (roughly) £7m midfielder here.

“It’s definitely a tough choice. We’ve only had four Gameweeks played and therefore only a small sample of data to base such a potentially season-defining decision on. So I kept the Egyptian in my squad.

“We must ask ourselves ‘do we feel that Mané and Salah will maintain their current performance levels?’ Mané is flying right now, with a score of 9.8 per game to Salah’s 6.8. To put that into context, if they were to continue that over 38 Gameweeks, Mané would smash the all-time FPL high score record (303 set by Salah last season) with a whopping 372. Do we really think he’s capable of doing that?

“On the other hand, Salah would weigh in with just over 258, which in fairness isn’t a million miles away from his optimum points per game levels seen in 2017/18.

“Working the figures again, this tells us Salah is underperforming against last year’s figures by around 15 percent, whereas Mane is massively overperforming, even when we factor in his 10-game absence last season.

“The question FPL managers need to ask themselves therefore is whether they feel Salah will make up the performance level deficit and return to the mean and whether Mane can continue to outperform his mean score by such a high margin.”

QUESTION TWO – HOLLY SHAND

How much team value can you potentially earn playing your Wildcard during the international break and is it worth using if your squad doesn’t need a major fix?

Holly: “The international break tends to be a steadier time for price rises and falls than many expect. So I’d expect perhaps just one or two players rising twice, to give the all important £0.1 million gained value.

“However, if you cannot afford the price swings to ditch underperforming assets for the in-form players, the Wildcard can still be valuable.

“Beware the fixture swings and chasing early season points though.

“Liverpool in particular have a tricky upcoming spell.”

QUESTION THREE – TOM

If you are not planning to use the Wildcard for Gameweek 5, how many point hits should we consider taking to make up an injury and suspension filled squad? Also, should we be making early transfer considering how fast players prices are rising?

Tom: “How many hits should we consider? Well, obviously this depends very much on your team and what the situation is.

“If you are dead set on keeping your Wildcard, I’d focus on getting a good XI out for Gameweek 5, after International Break, rather than fixing bench fodder – unless you are doing a combination move as part of your hit (i.e. moving a £4.5 defender down to a £4.0 to free up cash).

“That being said, I’d be thinking that if you need multiple hits to deal with your team’s injuries and suspensions then there’s no need to be stubborn about pulling your wildcard; your squad needs it.

“Should we make early transfers considering how fast players’ prices rise? It depends in what context.

“If there’s little to no midweek action, as we’ve seen at the start of this season, then an early transfer is a risk that can be worth taking.

“However as we saw with Wilfried Zaha and Kevin de Bruyne picking up training ground knocks you are never immune from a shock injury.

“But as we start to enter the period where continental football and other cup competitions return, I’d advise being more cautious with your early transfers as you may end up needing a hit to fix an impetuous move.

“Essentially: you’ll remember your overall rank at the end of the season, not your team value.”

    Didn't want to WC, but then started playing and are these moves worth it?
    Unfortunately 0.2 short of doing Bilva and firmino to hazard and mitro

    1.firmino->Vardy
    2.ings->mitro
    3. Mkhitaryan -> Lucas moura
    4. Bilva -> fraser
    5. Stephens-> ward
    6. Salah -> mane
    7. Pedro ->hazard
    8. Peltier -> Pereira
    9. Robbo->holebas

      It's probably better in terms of nailed, but debateable whether it's actually better (selling firmino, ings, salah, robertson, pedro, bernardo)

      Like it.

      I’m definitley all over the Mane/Hazard combination over Salah/7.0

      It is 50/50 though can see why people don’t like it as some of the players you are losing can destroy.

      Take risks, safe and template is boring xD

        Cheers, can get that team and potentially go ahead of a Vardy bandwagon:
        Foster Patricio
        Mendy Alonso pereira/shaw (holebas wb )
        Mane hazard moura fraser (ward)
        Kun Vardy mitro

      Been tinkering about this myself. Schurle has more goal threat, as Seri has more ways to get you points as he is both a creator and a surprising goalscorer.

      For the time being I'm going with Seri.

      This feels like a decision by someone who can’t afford / can’t fit in Mitrovic

      I say this because I’m considering Schurlle but not sure if my vision is clouded because Mitrovic is the one I really want.

      Fraser over Schurlle. If you have Fraser already I’d probably say go for Schurlle and especially over Seri.

    Choosing between the two (once) 4.0 playing defenders, which do you prefer out of AWB and Bennett?

    AWB - more attacking, poor performances recently, more likely to lose his place?

    Bennett - better defensive team, more nailed, less goal threat?

        On a wildcard, exploring 4-4-2 options with a back four of Alonso, Mendy, Robertson and Shaw. Not overly enamoured with the striking options so far. Trying to decide which 4.0 I’d drop in that event.

    Could you please post your thought on my WC team

    Patricio (Hamer)

    Holebas Mendy Alonso (Bennet, Wan B)

    Hazard Mane Moura Fraser (Billing)

      I would rather have Salah for 13 than Auba for 11.

      Pool much better team and Salah gets extra point for each goal and clean sheet point.

        I think aubam has been unfortunate not to score more until now. Liverpool next fixtures are really tough and for me salah is (for the moment) not worth 13m. I was more keen to bring in mhki but after yesterday match I went for aubam

        1. MTPockets

          I didn't watch last game so can only go by stats, which weren't relatively brilliant:
          https://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/matches/987624/
          From previous games Lacazette looked good when he was on. If he'll be starting I'd prefer him for 1.5m less.

    A) Mkhi - 8.3 - Moura ?

    C) Wally - 7.8 - Moura ?
    D) Wally - Fraser/Maddison/Schurrle ?
    E)Kamara - Ings/Jimenez ?
    F) None. Don’t take a hit.

    Honestly AWB. His attacking threat is way better and he wont lose his place. Liverpool fan who saw Hodgson manage Liverpool. He doesnt drop based on a couple of poor performances. Crystal Palace have it in them to be better defensively just need Tomkins back I think.

        Palace has said nothing on the matter so doesn't matter how many sources guess.

    Don't think Mkhi has been dropped as he was playing well, him Ozil n Ramsey will be sharing minutes

      If I have him, I will definately hold and look at alternative and check price activity

      Personally i'm looking to sell him, way too much rotation risk and just wait until those European fixtures start for Arsenal!

    Would you WC this?

    Patricio
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, van Aanholt
    Hazard, Mane, Bernardo Silva, Mkhitaryan, Fraser
    Aguero

    Hamer; Zaha*, Wan-Bissaka, Kamara.

    On a -4. If Zaha is fit I definitely won't as I expect Bilva to get back into the team.

    A) Yes
    B) No

    Slight concern ahead of next gameweek, would love to hear what other triple Liverpool owners are doing?

    I have already used my free transfer to ship Tomkins for Alonso, giving me this team:

    Patricio
    Robertson Alonso Mendy (WB Peltier)
    Salah Mane Mkhi Pedro (Stephens)
    Ings Arnie Aguero

    I don't think I want to get rid of any of them as Southampton at home the week after looks tasty if they don't get rotated.. thinking of benching Robertson at Spurs and bringing in WB to start, although Palace chances of clean sheet without Zaha and Tomkins would be dramatically reduced in my opinion. Thoughts?

      Sticking with all 3. Taking one player out and then in is 2 transfers, effectively a -8 which is not worth it without a WC. Just think longer term!

        are you also playing all 3 vs Spurs?

    Experimenting with my team, and came upon this:

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Alonso - Robertson - Holebas (Bennett, Wan-Biz)
    Hazard, D. Silva, Mané, Kante/Fraser (Højbjerg)
    Lukaku, Aguero Wilson/Ings

    A) Which of Kante/Wilson vs Fraser/Ings?
    B) Would you punt for Lukaku or choose someone else?

    What you guys think?

      Ings won't be able to play v Liverpool in a couple of weeks... but on the other hand, I don't like Kante as an option.

      Fraser & Ings. Fraser I think will match Wilson & Ings is so much a better option the Kante.

      Lukaku could be decent, not sure yet as he's alot for a United attacker.

    Patricio (Stekelenburg)
    Luiz, Alonso, Robertson, Mendy (Wan Bissaka)
    Salah, B Silva, Neves (Fraser, McDonald)
    Aguero, Aubameyang, Ings

    1FT & 0.2 itb

    Considering Aub & Bilva out for Wilson & Hazard in? Worth a -4? Would maybe follow with Frazer out for Moura the following week.

    Zaha, BSilva and Walcott > Hazard, Wilson and Hojberg (Field AWB)
    Do I need to make any of these transfers now, ie. is there a player here that might increase/drop because these trades leave me with 0.0 ITB

    1. chrisw333

      Hazard likely to rise, Zaha & Walcott could fall with injury news. B Silva may also fall..

    I bought Walcott when he was £6.6. He's now £6.8 (selling price £6.7). If he drops, what happens ? (Always forget).

      cant shoot, not good at passing, makes bad decisions on the pitch, poor positionally, doesnt effect games enough. Poor atttitude on the pitch.
