Hold fire until I see evidence of the old Kane returning. At the moment he's half the player he was pre injury.

Tricky to get him in so he'd need to be really at his best to warrant serious team surgery

I've had him from the start, for the exact reason mentioned by Netley, easy to move him to on if needed, but major surgery required to bring him in.
Will be a season keeper, barring injury.

He looks poor and Spurs don't look dominant either. The one and only option from that team is Moura, because of the price. Ok, maybe Trippier. But Kane for 12.5m - no way, not until he starts looking like a powerful forward.

Long post, sort of reflecting on the way the season has started, and sord of looking to get some advise on how to maintain a decent form and those green arrows.

This start of the season has been the weirdest I can remember, on the simple basis of being the only one I can remember where I'm a peace with, and feel quite good about my team. With an OK-ish start with 259 points and an OR of 242k, I have no deep urge to do a makeover, no players I desperately feeld the need to bring in, nor players I just have to get rid of.

I haven't stumbled completely with my transfers either. A couple of hits, but all my moves was sort of sensible, and most of them gained my points total (Sanchez -> Mané, Bednarek -> Shaw, B. Silva -> Mhki, Auba -> Mitrovic, Peltier -> Alonso). At least there hasn't been a 12/13-situation, where I did the Hazard/Bale switch at the exactly worst time (I think I had them for a 2-3-2-2-3 streak, where as if I owned them in the reversed GWs would have had like 14-12-9-15-14).

The only slight regret I have was to be determined to start the season with both Sanchez and Auba (along with Robertson, Mendy, Salah and Aguero), and thus missing out on the points from the cheapish strikers and also dropping the likes of Richarlison and Fraser for cheaper guys like Hughes (he came good in GW3!) and Cairney.

Now I sort of sits restless through the international break. My guts tell me to do something radical, yet, if I have a calm look at my team, I don't need to make any big changes.

As someone who has just one top 15k and only two top 50k placements overall: How would you guys who frequently gets great OR placements advise me to move forward? Should I stay calm, and just make slight adjustments? Is it this feeling of being at peace with a team who surely could be improved somewhere who will kill me in the end? Like, is this the time to just get Hazard and ditch some Liverpool mid? It this the time to ride a bandwagon instead of just hoping Mhki gets his place back? Or am I on the right track here?

    The team:

    Patricio / Hamer
    Mendy / Robertson / Alonso / Shaw / AWB
    Salah / Mané / Mhki / Hughes / Cairney
    Aguero / Mitrovic / Kamara

    2.1 ITB

Nothing drastic needed there, no. Although I wouldn't sit on over 2.0 million in the bank... You need to utilize that to maximize your points potential.

An upgrade to Kamara/Hughes/Cairney I think will allow you to have a stronger 11 each week.

      1. rocrocodile
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 12 days ago

Sure, 2.1 ITB isn't ideal. It came from the -4 transfer of Auba/Peltier to Alonso/Mitrovic - those two players was the ones I really wanted. I would like to maximize the value of those ITB money, to do a real upgrade. I know it would help to get a 7.0 instead of Cairney, but I just feel more valuabe options will occure (like Mhki to a almost-premium type or Kamara to a really hot option upfront (allthough I have considered doing Kamara -> Ings)).

Right now I feel it's best to save the FT to do a double transfer before GW6. That opens up a lot of more options. But I agree in principle.

    3. MTPockets
      8 years, 12 days ago

The start was templatastic. That seldom happens. For most was initial luck rather than skill, so don't build on that by taking punts for the sake of it - let others make errors. At peace is fine, although options like Hazard in or Mkhi out aren't radical ideas.

      1. rocrocodile
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 12 days ago

Yeah, I know. It was that who struck me the most: How the FFS template (probably for the first time) was a guarantee of a great start.

Mhki and the sum of Kamara/Hughes/Cairney is my only small worries, but nothing who make me lose my sleep.

If you weren't worried about missing out on a Hazard haul I doubt you'd even be considering much of the international break. I'd continue to tweak and not knee jerk. Give Mane and Salah another game, each could outscore Hazard and you don't want to drop the wrong one.
You've got a good enough defence to play 5 in GW5, I'd try and let the FT roll.

      1. rocrocodile
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 12 days ago

I wasn't all that worried, no. At least not worried enough to consider dropping Salah or Mané. And I still don't feel the itch to drop Salah, even though Hazard is tempting.

    5. Shatner's Bassoon
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 12 days ago

To be honest I'd be tempted to just do something like Mane to Hazard and leave it there. Possibly then also Kamara to Ings or Wilson // Cairney to Maddison/Fraser if you can afford it... haven't done the maths there, but means another playing attacker with good fixtures.

Nothing wrong with a proactive wildcard, trying to reshape the team + fix issues, but your defence + GK are fine. Most WC-ers will be after Aguero + Mitrovic anyway who you've already got, so think it could be advantageous for you to keep the wildcard for the next fixture swing, and just rest on the fact you've managed to get close to the WC template without needing to employ it.

Your back 5 - I'd go so far as to say it is pretty much perfect (patricio is decent keeper)- I assume you are playing 4-4-2 most weeks.

Midfield - I'd be looking at hughes/cairney upgrades - primarily focusing on either Maddison/Predo (if you can afford them) or Fraser).

Up front - again I really like Aguero and Mitrovic - Kamara is fine as bench fodder - great front 3

Upgrade your 4th midfield, otherwise it's bang on. I have a similar side, but want to get shaw in as my 4th defender and want Mitrovic in for Arnoutovic,.

      I'm on
      Pickford/Button
      Mendy/Roberston/Alonso/AWB/Peltier
      Salah/Mane/Pedro/Myki/Fraser
      Aguero/Arnoutovic/Kamara

and I'm looking over the next 2-3 weeks to go - Pickford/Peltier/Myki/Arnoutovic to Patricio/Shaw/Maddison/Mitrovic

I have a similar history to you - Ranked 32k and 82k last 2 seasons, but had a good start this year and sitting at 21k currently.

      1. rocrocodile
        • 16 Years
        8 years, 12 days ago

Yeah, that mid is the real issue. I'm just worried I can't fint the right guy to back - and wheter the best thing to do is to upgrade Cairney/Hughes to a 7.0/7.5 or to try to utilize that ITB money on a upgrade from Mhki to a sort-of-premium (but I can't see who).

        Maddison is a nice idea.

And regardless I won't do anything till after the international fixtures have been played.

The only problem I see is your midfield. Mkhi is now a worry and the Hughes/Cairney combo isn’t ideal. If you want my advice to get a good rank I’d say make your transfer on Fridays after pressers unless you won’t be able to afford it. Also don’t take hits unless you can’t field 11 without using your bench. Watch as much football as you can, especially pre season, so you don’t start with Sanchez again 😀 Good luck.

Keep calm and carry on. Monitor the Arsenal midfield situation but there's definitely no need for major surgery.

You are well ahead of those who wild carded to get your team.

Must feel weird to WC from that position, but I sort of see why you feel the urge. B. SIlva, Pedro, Zaha and Monreal have probably served you good, but there seems to be better options in the weeks to come.

Pedro and Trippier (with backup of Callum Wilson)
    Or
Hazard and Wan-Bissaka (with a 4.5 striker backup)
I will not be using backup 95% of the time. So basically just ignore them and don't include the backup into your argument.

Shaw has favorable 8 out of 10 next fixtures. wat, WOL, whu, NEW, EVE, bou, CRY, sou. There should be 4 clean sheets there and maybe an assist or two. That would be an average of 5.0 points if that happens, and so far Shaw has an average of 5.25.

I'm leaning towards Pogba myself. He is that 0.3 cheaper and more nailed in my opinion once the Champions league kicks in. All the rotation so far has done my head in so want guaranteed starters from now

Over the course of the season it’s DSilva and it’s not even close. Just look at his FPL history. Sure he may miss an extra game or 2 but think he will outscore Pogba...assuming he’s still at United all season 🙂

Mitrovic as Pedro will probably be rotated again soon.

Would lean towards Mitrovic as the long-term option on a WC.

Would expect Pedro to outscore him this week specifically though.

Not until they both start vs Newcastle and don't get near the pitch in the Europa League.

Auba more likely to be nailed admittedly, but needs more form to justify 10.9

Please what to do with this lot:

    Fabianski (Foster)
Alonso - Mendy - Van Dijk - Van Aanholt (Peltier)
Salah - Mkhitarian - Walcott (Jota - Cairney)
    Anautovic - Aguero - King

    1 FT & 0.4 ITB

    Top in my league.
Just did a minus 4 to get mane and 4.5def out for Alonso and maddison. Simply can not afford to lose more Alonso hauls.

    A) well done and a pat on your back
    B) unnecessary -4, you are doomed
    C) a wasted -4? Who would you switch to 9.7m plus 4.5m

    Fabianski (Foster)
    Robertson, Mendy, AWB (Tomkins*, Bednarek)
    Salah, Dilva, Pedro, Walcott*, Fraser
    Aguero, Auba (Kamara)

    Tomkins > Alonso
    Auba > Mitrovic (-4)
    Walcott > Maddison (-8)

    Or just stop at -4?

    1. Speédy
      • 9 Years

Auba - Mitrovic for -4 is crazy. Auba faces Newcastle while Mitro plays City away.

Agree. Wait on the Mitro move... or was that to fund Tomkins to Alonso?

Even if it was, I'm sure there's a better way.

i'm badly torn between the following two options (I have 2 free transfers):

    1) Bilva >> Dilva, save the other FT
    2) Van Dijk >> Shaw, Arnautovic >> Wilson, Bilva >> Hazard, for -4.

Anyone care to shed some light my dilemma?
