The current top-scoring Fantasy Premier League midfield asset versus the record points holder for a single season. It needn’t be an either/or, of course, and plenty of FPL managers own both Sadio Mane (£9.9m) and Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) at this stage of the campaign.

With Jurgen Klopp hinting at rotation, Liverpool’s fixtures about to take a turn for the worse – the Reds face Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City in the next four Gameweeks – and a premium midfield alternative in Eden Hazard (£10.7m) in a rich vein of form, however, some Fantasy bosses may be considering jettisoning one of these two heavy hitters in the short-term at least.

In this Members’ piece, we will compare Salah and Mane directly while also taking a look at both Liverpool midfielders’ wider appeal compared to the alternatives in their position.

    I have Salah and Miki
I dont want to get rid of salah but I think Mane and Sterling would get more points
    is this a good idea?

Im not happy with Miki and without freeing funds by dropping salah a point scoring replacement is hard to find.

Get rid of Miki. Pretty even between Mane and Sterling, maybe go with Sterling so you have one from each team. But saying that I have Salah and Mane

You're right to ditch Mhki. I have him and almost certainly will. I didn't think he was a rotation option but I thought Arsenal were great in attack with Auba and Lacazette at the weekend and it seems unlikely Ozil will make way.

Out of Sterling and Mane I would go Mane, not just because he has more points. Liverpool's upcoming games are tough it's true, but I think that means you'll see little rotation from top players and right now, I fancy Liverpool to score past anybody anyway. if Sterling was going to be playing every week he's a no-brainer, even at 11. But he's not and City's easy fixtures combined with the CL starting make me think there will be a lot of rotation for him.

Would be so helpful to know the Pool line up for the Southampton match but I imagine it will be a guessing game as per usual until the team sheet is announced.

You could be right but what makes you think that ? Isn't that match a nice opportunity to give the likes of Sturridge and Shaqiri a run out ?

No, the next match is. Look above.

Don't understand what's so hard to predict. 4 days rest before the Southampton game, followed by EFL. Why would players be rested before EFL? And why would a full strength side by played in EFL before playing Chelsea in the league?

100% agree on this. But with that logic, you can bet that Salah and Mane will be 100% starters for the tougher games against Tottenham and Chelsea.

The league is always priority number 1 right? So why ditch the likes of Salah and Mane for this run?

            1. Cok3y5murf
              • 9 Years
              7 years, 3 months ago

They will 100% start, but their minutes are very likely to be managed, like being withdrawn at 70', since these fixtures are followed by CL midweek.

The sales are also due to the fact that the fixtures actually harder than Hazard's.

You are probably right, don't think it's quite as simple as that though. Pool also play Chelsea in the cup and it's still a trophy, plus it would be good to beat Chelsea in the cup and go into the league match with a psychological advantage. I'm playing details advocate though, I imagine you are right.

    repost from old post;

    G2G with this WC team?

    Patricio, Foster
    Alonso, Mendy, Robbo, AWB, Bennett
    Salah, Pedro, Pereyra, Fraser, Moura
    Vardy, Kun, Ings

    thoughts?

Like many other on a WC. Starting to look decent, but still a few questions.

    Current team: 1,8 ITB
    Patricio (Hamer)
    shaw, mendy, alonso (AWB, bennet)
    Pedro, alonso, mane, moura (billing)
    ings, kun, vardy

I like LEI fixtures, and when on a WC i would preferably like as many nailed on players as possible. Hence Pedro and maybe Moura are the ones most likely to be rotatede. The back 5 I am pretty happy with, although Robbie might punish me...

    Please advice:
    a) mane, moura -> salah, fraser
    b) ings -> mitro
    c) Pedro -> maddison
    d) Pedro for GW 5 and 6, shift to Maddison/Rich in GW 7

    Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

    1.3-4-3

    Patricio
    Mendy/Alonso/Shaw
    Hazard/Salah/Pedro/Pogba/

Don't really know which of those combos I'd prefer. Not much difference as Wilson/ Fraser look both good options and on the other hand in Pedro/ Ramsey there is two players who aren't as nailed but both capable to returns

Hennessey less guaranteed to keep his starting role imo. Wolves fixtures are alright. I'd guess you have wan bisaka and wouldnt want to double up on palace def if both would be in your starting 11.

Selling Aub for a hit is crazy. Newcastle won’t Park the bus against a weak Arsenal defence. There will be goals in that game. Aub is most likely to return.

Tough one, as Auba owner from GW1 i'm feeling the pain of this one.

I wouldn't do it for a hit. Fixture turn and Auba could hit form, finally got himself a goal. If you can do it for free and Auba still not providing then would go for Aguero and even Lukaku is worth considering.

oh ha - I went without him for ages last season, a had Sterling/Sane/Mane/Hazard instead of him (captain was usually Kane or maybe Hazard) and on weeks when any of them failed it was not fun

            there were 3 outcomes:
Mane scores well, but Salah blanks GREAT
Mane scores well, Salah scores well FINE but not ideal
Mane blanks, Salah scores well BIG RANK DROP

unfortunately the third option happened a lot more than the other two, and when people started captaining him every week it was basically game over

yeah, it's annoying because the first few games this season he's missed easy chances (the exact reason I didn't want him for ages last year haha) I'm almost being proven right and wrong at the same time 😐 but he is the most likely points scorer in the game, so 'value' isn't all that relevant imo (especially with budget strikers doing well for once)

His potency as a captaincy option is always vastly underrated when he is being discussed. If we didn't have cap option in the game salah wont be 13m

Thing is you won't be captaining him vs Chelsea , spurs , man city...will you ?!
So even if he gets you 15 , 10 , 15 in those games...it shouldn't hurt much if your other players do well....But GW 6 vs southampton if he gets you 15 points , that is scary .
Coz eve1 will have him captained !

I'd go Fraser as he is cheap and looks reliable. Not sure why, but Maddison reminds me of a Redmond type FPL player, don't really trust him or Leicester to do well. Expectation with watford that they won't keep doing as well so probably not pereyra.

Hi, can anyone advise why walcott is only worth 6.6mil in my side? Hes value is 6.8 so should be 6.7?

I assume you bought him at 6.5, in which case he should be 6.6 sale price. 0.3 rise = 0.1 sale price increase.

        Hello Lads

Had no intention of using the wildcard now but as always over the international break I am getting itchy fingers.
Any thoughts on the current side. I am happy with the balance considering I have 3 big hitters

        Hart (Hamer)
        Mendy Alonso Robertson Cedric (AWB)
        Salah Pedro Gray (Westwood, Guendozi)
        Kane Aguero Wilson

Did -4 pre GW4, now considering another one for Dunk, Walcott -> Alonso, 4.5.

        Team;
        De Gea
        Mendy, Robertson, Wan Bissaka
        Salah, Hazard, Walcott, Mhkitaryan, Fraser
        Aguero, Zaha

        (Hamer, Kamara, Dunk, Peltier)

        Yay/nay?

Firmino is dropping to 9.4m tonight and I want to get rid of him anyway.

Buy Laca 9.4 or someone else? Is it worth taking a -4 hit?

Fantasyfootballfix says so. And on Fplstatistics he's at -98.1. Not much activity at the moment but Bobby is going down before the next GW, it's a matter of time. Could be tonight.

You can still afford Laca if he drops.
Not worth the -4 for me, especially as I expect pool to beat Spurs

I can, but I can also bank that 0.1m if I react promptly. Also, I have 0.9m in the bank so the extra 0.1 would give me a round 1.0m. Perfect transfer.

Alternatively I could buy Mitrovic or Wilson.

        Mendy, Alonso, Robbo, AWB, Peltier
        Salah, Mane, Dilva, Neves, Billing
        Kun, Zaha, Austin (I know)

        A) Zaha > Wilson/Deeney for free
        B) Zaha > Wilson/Deeney & Mane > Haz -4
        C) Zaha > Wilson/Deeney & Austin > Mitro -4

If keeping Austin would you start him against Brighton (possible 1pt cameo) or play AWB instead?

Best time to WC.. Imo it is gw7-8.. or when you really need it (multiple issues/ not being able to field a playing 11 side)..

Fixture congestion will hit liverpool and man city real hard very soon. in fact spurs will also struggle with CL commitments/ tough group.. However there are a few picks in each side that are fixture proof imo and they are the players to start getting on wc.. Examples include vertonghen, eriksen, kane, KDB (when he is back), ederson, allison.. Chelsea players are also a good bet as Sarri often doesnt rotate.. fixtures swings for likes of Brighton and watford is also one to consider..

What are your thoughts on when to WC (obviously not for the ones who have already wc'ed).. Who are the best picks to target in a few weeks time?

Unlike others I'm looking a getting some United.
Lukaku or Lingard could be good, slightly under the radar options imo
Murray is another I'm looking at for a few weeks time.
As for when to wildcard, I will hit the button when I feel my team needs more than a -8

        Morning,

Those in LMS. Once you are out your are out. Is this correct?.
Why are new players allowed to enter after season starts?. The later you enter the more chance you have of winning.

...or have I got the rules completely wrong?

        thanks

When you enter doesn't matter, there's a qualifying score each week to be accepted, post GW1.

        Thoughts on this WC

        Patricio (Hamer)
        Alonso, Mendy, Holebas (Bennett, Wan-Bissaka)
        Hazard, Mané, Pedro, Fraser (Billing)
        Aguero, Lukaku, Mitrovic

Pedro Will most likely become Richarlison in 2 GW
