Some Fantasy Premier League managers may have been too quick to jump on the N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m) bandwagon this season.

The Chelsea midfielder is now in 22.1% of squads after netting a rare goal against Huddersfield Town in Gameweek 1.

However, it seems there is little to suggest Kanté will provide much value this season in spite of his new role at Stamford Bridge.

While this is a debate that raged on the Scoutcast a few weeks ago, we thought we’d take the opportunity of the international break to give it a bit more of a look.

After all, we now have more data to rely on when assessing the changes surrounding Kanté this season.

Goalkeepers are fine, especially if you’re someone who likes a rotation pair.
Defence looks good, same as mine other than Tomkins over Doherty
Salah a keeper (for me anyway). If you think Mane can keep it up, keep him, otherwise I’d like for a way to get Haz in. Alternatively could look at Alli/eriksen if they start firing. I’m giving Mkhi one more chance personally too. As for Walcott, keep and wait to see if there’s more news, but if he’s out I’d get Fraser in; good stats good fixtures.
Frontline looks fine, especially if Zaha is fit. If he’s ruled out and you don’t have enough playing bench maybe think about Wilson or deeney

I’d wait and see if there’s any more news regarding Walcott and zaha injuries, then reassess. Repost then and I might have some transfers I’d suggest

Wait for injury news of course but Mkhi and Tomkins prob priority imo.
Maybe a WC if some of the injuries conformed longer term

Maybe Zaha to Wilson. Imo Wilson looks better long term than Zaha and has a decent fixture run. This also frees up funds allowing more flexibility next week.

we have missed the price increase this time.. so best is to WC some other GW to get the price increase...

Walcott will play -99% was very positive in his talk,

Zaha, Mikhi you can get out depending on presser

Gunnarsson has slim chance of playing - but no point losing him now since you would have lost 0.1 already...

I pressed wildcard with similar issues and kind of regretting it. Sounds like zaha might be ok. Tomkins would be on your bench anyway, and you can deal with walcott and mkhi with one hit. Not worth a wildcard.

Very similar to my team - I have problems with Zaha, Walcott, Mkhi, Gunnarson and Peltier. My thoughts are if I can tread water a little bit until GW9 there's a bit of a fixture swing that will mean I can really take advantage of the WC.

Individually on those players, here's my thoughts:

Mkhitaryan - No injury problem so definitely giving him another week. He could easily start or get something from the bench.

Walcott / Zaha - Waiting on injury news for these, fully expecting to get rid of 1 for Wilson/Fraser, may get rid of both for a -4 if necessary and look at getting Lucas Moura in.

Gunnarsson - Worth holding for now as cover, he'll be back soon and will be a nailed 90 minute man.

Peltier / Tomkins - Will hold if it looks like I can get a full XI out (even if that means Mkhi coming off the bench). If you pushed me to make an extra transfer though, this would be where I'd make it.

Just procrastinating at work. Barring any injuries think I will hold this week but mid term I feel something not quite right wirth this team and unsure where to change.

    Robertson Mendy A.Smith
    Mane Salah Pedro Neves
    Auba Aguero Ings

Hamer Schnderlin Wan B Peltier 1FT 0.0 ITB

3 Liv? Ederson not really doing it? Auba not justifying price but fixtures so good? Schnerin to Cardiff 4.5? Neves to Kante? Peltier cannot be Bennett now.

I do quite like it tbh. Obvious missing (from the template anyway, and who I hope both do well) are Alonso/Haz. If you were on WC I could see a couple things I’d suggest, but you could always roll them out with a hit or two over the coming weeks.

I do like Auba, and started the season with him, but have dropped him now. Fixtures are good, but new A ain’t no easy fixture. I think you could get vardy in for Auba this week tbh or even one of the 6mil bracket options if you’re not too averse to having only one premium striker (vardy could be good though, he’s on my wishlist). Would also lose Ederson to a 4.5 in the coming weeks, and both of those give you some funds for upgrades elsewhere.

Pretty solid team though, and could see if you want to roll the Ft

No problem. I personally think that’s the way to go, and if there’s any fixture of the upcoming bunch you could justify dropping Auba for I’d say it’s this one.

Zidane playing like us with a WC... wants Thiago A, Cavani, J.Rod and Toni Kroos..... to come to Man U if he becomes manager... and the headlines continue. This is intriguing, probably because I had those same players in FIFA WC game and Pogba.. and money was tight in that game. I can't imagine the price tag for those four in real life. .

How many points is worth 0.1m?

Everybody found themselves in this situation before:
    - Should I take a hit in order to avoid a price drop?
    - Is it worth losing 4 points to avoid losing team value?

Obviously it depends on the relevance of the transfer "in" as transferring "out" the dropper is often due to injury/form/fixture behind the negative bandwagon.

So how do we assess a good hit? Is there a rule of thumb based on expected points?
I'm sure this was debated before but I'd like to gather the thoughts once again, to understand if regardless of the players, a hit is worth more or less than 0.1

In my personal case I'm looking at 2 hits (or most probably 1 hit over 2 GWs) in order to do Salah+Bilva+Tosun => Hazard+Lucas+Lacazette
The hit(s) seem well justified here but at the same time I'm well ahead in my ML so I'm not convinced I should be aggressive.

So I guess the OR or MLR also plays a role in the hit valuation.

What do you think guys? How much point is worth 0.1m?

    1. FPL Scoop
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I generally only take hits when:

      A) I’ll be priced out of a move I want to do if there’s that 0.1 price rise/fall

      B) The player I’m transferring out is very likely to be dropped, or is suspended/injured so won’t play. In this case the ceiling for just paying back the hit is only 4pts, which is something I’d hope someone I’m taking a hit for can AT LEAST score.

Those are the two main situations that come to mind for me. If you take a points hit just to avoid a drop in team value, but you can still afford to do what you want to do after the price change, it seems pointless (no pun intended lol) to take a hit to me

    2. Holmes
      • 12 Years

I'll probably never take a hit just to save few 0.1s but I'm stubborn, team value is the last thing I would consider in this game...

If the moves are likely to bring more points, then hits are the way to go.

I’m almost always disappointed when I do a move based on Price Drops/Rises!...puts a time limit/rush on my decision making(usually the night that matches just finished too)...
As for hits, (not that i haven’t used a bunch of alternative rational), My Favorite Way to Asses/Calculate the Potential move is:
Will the ‘Player>IN’ Score more than (‘Player

I wont take a hit to save 0.1 TV, unless i will be priced out of a move that increases your total expected points over a period of time (very rare).

To quantify hits, try to think about the total increase in expected points vs -4 over a period of games. For eg I am hoping to WC around gw8 when I have more information on players gametime and teams form after UCL kicks in. If I have a player with 3.0 ppg dropping 0.1 TV, I will compare his 9 points (3 gameweeks) vs a new player -4. Ie the new player needs to deliver 13pts or 4.3 ppg over gw5-7 to justify the hit.

    6. Sharkytect
      • 11 Years

Sinilar to all the other responses; i only take a hit to save a 0.1 if the player dropping is clearly going to stay down, i.e. nit playing or injured. In which case, you want them put of your team and best to do so before losing money.

I'm stretched on budget - can't even get Kamara for quaner... ; ) Wilson has decent fixtures though

Can also trade one of the big 3 mids down if needed. I had Richarlison Zaha, Moura and Mkhi but they all had doubt so I just WC'ed.. more fun.

I think a strong bench is going to be more important than ever and I don't think yours is strong enough if I'm honest.

Still think Emer’s tinkering; and imo, a starting 11, with Mkhi, Auba, Laca, & Ramsey will be the answer!
Either way, worth waiting in your position, cause Maddison has to score 5-6pts, just to break even on the hit(assuming Mkhi gets 1min again or does nothing).

Hi Guys, which team would you prefer? Im in the midst of engineering the second team without using WC...

    Current: 4-4-2
    Ederson (Hamer)
Alonso | Mendy | Monreal | Robertson (WB)
Mane | Hazard | Pedro | Lucas (Walcott)
    Ings | Augero (Kamara)

    New: 4-4-2 or 3-4-4
    Hennessey (Etheridge)
Alonso | Mendy | Monreal | WB (Bennett)
Mane | Hazard | Fraser | Lucas (Biling)
    Lukaku | Aguero | Ings

I also agree with the Monreal issue
(Didn’t say anything, cause he’s in both squads; therefore prob a favorite of yours..lol)
Personally, I prefer PVA or TAA (both result in double-ups for u)
...also, not sure that Moura will be dropped(especially not right away). Very Interested to see what Pochettino does tho!
**Optimistic Idea: He could use a Back 4(with Tripper kinda allowed to play WB), drop Eriksen deeper(to take a HoldingMF role w/ Dembele), and then have a murderous Front-4 of Kane, Moura, Alli, & Son
(would be cool to see, but prob unlikely..lol)

So you are getting in Lukaku by downgrading Robertson Walcott Ederson and Pedro. In terms of playing 11 its basically Henessey WB and Lukaku vs Ederson Robertson and Pedro. The Lukaku team may be slightly better but only because there was too much money on the bench. I would do this by downgrading Fraser to 4.5 mid and downgrading Monreal instead of Robertson. Overall though I dont rate Strikers playing under Mou so wouldnt do it. Not for hits anyway.

Play B.Silva H2 Fulham or Walcott h2 Wet Ham? Other options are Neves and S.Cook.

    1. Jackie Moon

Walcott still an injury doubt and I think BSilva went off with a knock in internationals so you probably want to hold off on making a decision until some more certainty around those issues. Neves and Cook could actually both be good options as well. You got yourself a benching headache unfortunately!

Seeing a lot a people going with Maddison here. I am on wildcard and have gone for Vardy instead even though costs more. Is Maddison just because he's heaps cheaper and could be good value? Or do people think he's going to score similar to Vardy, but at a cheaper price?

Its kinda coming down to: Vardy and DSilva, or Maddison and Auba/Lukaku. I'm currently thinking Vardy can score similar to Auba/Lukaku for cheaper price more than I expect Maddison to match DSilva. Thoughts?

Maddison is one I am monitoring for sure. He’s had a decent start but not haven’t completed 90mins yet concerns me.

But of those 2 options you lay out I do like Maddison and Lukaku over Dilva and Vardy. Think Lukaku will be in the goals.

Aubs clearly a great player but fan he justify £11m out on left wing ans seldom Captain material

Cheers for the comment. I desiphered it! I’m not as convinced about Lukaku as you are. Man U just looking a bit all over the place, but I suppose he is the 1 consistent player in their team. I’ve been leaning towards DSilva and Vardy myself. Kinda see them both with potential for premium scores for less cost. I’m actually 0.1 off affording Lukaku as well so need to see where I can find that.

Vardy and DSilva, or Maddison and Lukaku. Hmm that's tough. Vardy n Lukaku both can be explosive and has pk duties as well. Don't buy into fixtures with these two, despite those flat track bully claims.

Its coming dpwn to Dilva or Maddy. Dilva can be focal point without KDB, and has looked lively. Rotation or minutes management with UCL looming can be frustrating. Maddison otoh looks very nailed, key and cam benefit from vardy.

In terms of value and potential of explosiveness, I'd go maddy n lukaku. Just

Can’t say I agree on Luk flat track claims.

To prob confuse your decision-making even more(or just be ignored..lol):
Right now, think I like Lacazette more than any of the other Strikers mentioned(Vardy, Lukaku, or Auba)!
...he has a hunger to get into that first11 that we didn’t see last year. Plus, he’s got Form (maybe not over Lukaku, but he almost showed me more with his Misses of late, than his returns! Just not the same player under Mourinho/at ManScrew).
Laca’s also got Fixtures right now; plus, arguably the best Service out of those options...
Anyway, that’s imo; and i’m just saying

Always happy to get other ideas, but unfortunately I’m not going near Laca. Already take a risk playing an early WC so don’t want to take another with someone like Laca that might only play every 2nd of 3rd game. If he nails a spot then I’m interested.

I have decided not to wc or take a hit this week. I do want to improve my defense tho and i have 1.2m itb.

    current :
    Fabianski Foster
Mendy alonso WB Daniels and Suttner

    A/ Daniels to Laporte or
    B/ Fabianski to Ederson

Considering Daniels and Suttner are certainly not gonna play I can play safe, bring Laporte and bench WB. Or i could take a more risky approach, hope my 3 defenders that play will not get injured and bring Ederson in since Fabianski-Foster pair is not working well for coming fixtures.
