There were impressive performances for Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andrew Robertson on international duty on Monday night.

That may be of encouraging news to their owners currently worried about whether to start them for difficult fixtures in Gameweek 5.

All that and more Fantasy Premier League talking points from another night of international action in this latest Scout Notes article.

SERBIA 2-2 ROMANIA

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.7m) – 90 minutes
Nemanja Matic (£5.0m) – 19 minutes

Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his blistering start to the season by adding another two goals to his tally. The Fulham man has now found the net six times in the first five matches of 2018/19 with two assists to boot, one of his club and one for his country. In his last 30 matches in all competitions he has scored 23 goals.

Such form should ease any concerns among Mitrovic’s 19% ownership about starting him in Gameweek 5 when he faces a trip to Manchester City. The champions remain without a clean sheet in their first two home matches of the campaign while Fulham have registered more big chances than either of the sides to have already scored at the Etihad Stadium in 2018/19.

SCOTLAND 2-0 ALBANIA

Andrew Robertson (£6.1m) – 90 minutes
Kevin McDonald (£4.5m) – 45 minutes
Stuart Armstrong (£5.3m) – 45 minutes
Scott McTominay (£4.4m) – 11 minutes

Andrew Robertson was a standout performer for Scotland as they recorded a much-needed win over Albania. The Liverpool man has recently been handed the captain’s armband and he led by example at Hampden Park. Much of the play went down the left side of the pitch and it was Robertson’s cross for Steven Naismith that created Berat Djimsiti’s own-goal.

There was disappointment for the 6% of Fantasy managers invested in Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser (£5.6m) as it was revealed he picked up a knock in training with Scotland and missed the match with Albania. He is now a doubt for Gameweek 5.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.5m) and Callum Paterson (£5.3m) were unused substitutes for Alex McLeish’s Scotland side.

PORTUGAL 1-0 ITALY

Rui Patrício (£4.5m) – 90 minutes
Rúben Neves (£5.2m) – 90 minutes
Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) – 90 minutes

Jorginho (£5.1m) – 90 minutes
Emerson Palmieri (£5.3m) – 16 minutes

There was a positive update on Bernardo Silva after he played the full 90 minutes for Portugal as they beat Italy in their UEFA Nations League debut. The Manchester City man had revealed last week that he came out of a friendly match at half-time with a groin complaint, but his run out on Monday night allays any injury fears ahead of Gameweek 5.

Rui Patrício got another 90 minutes under his belt, which should come as no surprise. But there was another full appearance for his Wolves colleague Rúben Neves who appears to be slowly establishing himself in the international picture. Southampton’s Cedric Soares was an unused substitute again.

Jorginho was the only Premier League player to play the whole match for Italy. Chelsea teammate Emerson Palmieri made his debut for the Azzurri while Davide Zappacosta (£5.2m) was not in the matchday squad.

SWEDEN 2-3 TURKEY

Victor Lindelöf (£4.9m) – 90 minutes

Caglar Söyüncü (£5.0m) – 90 minutes
Cenk Tosun (£7.0m) – 90 minutes

Everton striker Cenk Tosun played his part in a dramatic comeback Nations League win for Turkey on Monday night. He provided the assist for Emre Akbaba’s first goal of the night, an 88th-minute equaliser.

Elsewhere there was a second full appearance of the campaign for Leicester new boy Caglar Söyüncü as he builds up his match fitness. Watford’s Ken Sema (£4.9m) was an unused substitute for Sweden.

HI guys, looking to strengthen my midfield lineup with a 5th playing midfielder and currently locked my crosshairs on Kante and Jorginho as Chelsea fixtures look pretty juicy as I have only 5.3M ITB currently. Please advise as I see Jorginho's price is due to rise in the next couple of days (not sure why) or suggest an alternative. Thanks and good luck to all.

Neither are good options, but Kante between the two. He does get more forward this year, but so far tends to look completely terrified when he does so 😀

    A. Walcott + Fraser -> Pedro/Lucas Moura + Maddison (-4)
    B. Walcott + Tomkins -> David Silva + Doherty (-4)
    C. Walcott -> David Silva and play 4-4-2 with Lowton (wol) or 3-4-3 with Ward (che)

Is Maddison worth the extra 1.2 over Ghezzal? Ghezzal seems to have a spot in the starting XI, has scored 2 in 2 starts and appears to have a share of set pieces.

Ghezzal obviously represents a risk but Maddison seems to be regularly subbed off early.

Agree the subbing off is a bit of a bug-bear for me, but I think he is worth the outlay.

More chance of a start, on set pieces. Takes a fair few shots. Annoyed he isn't cheaper, but fair play to the FPL folks for making him a headache.

If Sterling's fit then I'm pretty sure the lineup will be

      Ederson

      Fern Gundogan
      Dilva Serling
      Aguero Jesus

sorry that posted before I finished!

However, I don't mind the idea of him cameoing for a bit. Can see City getting 3+ goals so if he comes on with 25 left I'm fine with that.

Have Holebas first sub in case of a no-show.

Ings or Jimenez over next few weeks and why?

    1. Thinkering like a Boss

Jiminez. He plays 90 minutes, the most dangerous Wolves player, his stats impressive too.

Ings. He play just about 70 minutes. His shots on goal attempted very impressive, but risk rotation (Have Austin, Gabbi, Long waiting in line).

      I choose Jiminez tbh

    B) Wan-Bissaka (Away to Huddersfield)
    C) Mitrovic (Away to Man City)

Some Mini-League rivals have Wan-Bissaka & Mitrovic, wondering if that should make me bench Bennett.

So this article is telling me start Mitrovic this week! So who do I bench out of Pereyra/Wan Bissaka then?

Time will tell. I am shipping out Salah after the Sou game though. Still got my wildcard, so its easy to get him back if he proves me wrong. Only reason to NOT transfer him out, would be if he provides good points vs Spurs AND sou (C). If that is not the case having a 13 mil, who you are not gonna captain for a few weeks, is just not the way to go for me.

If your WC is active though, shipping out Salah seems like a really bad move, as it will be difficult to get him back in without changing the team structure

Nothing wrong with that. Infact even if you dont have a WC, taking Salah out and bringing him back in could pay off as long as you plan how you bring him back in

I still have more confident in Liverpool attacks more than Chelsea. So, Mane & Salah will stay in the team and get one of Pedro or Hazard.

What do you think about these options ?

    A: Hazard + W.Hughes
    B: Pedro + D.Silva

I have stats to back it but think about Cardiff’s problems at rb and Haz & Alonso on Chelsea’s left side. Kun can easily bag a hatty against Fulham.

            Terribly as always, besides GW1.

            GW1: Mane (16) [benched Mendy (15) & AWB (12)]

GW2: Mendy (8) instead of Mkhi (12) or Mane (10) [benched Hughes (8)]

GW3: Aubameyang (2) instead of Alonso (11) etc

            GW4: Aguero (6) instead of Alonso (9), Mane (10) & Aubameyang (8)

Brave with Mendy is GW 2 which could have gone far worse. Not too bad tbh.

Could have gone a lot better as well. He was close to a third assist being awarded. Close to a CS. Either one of those events would have given him 2 bonus points. Both events would have been an extra 9 points, and a total of 34 points as a captain (not far off Aguero, who I didn't own at the time :/ ) How are your captain decisions going besides missing out on Kun's goals, like me?
