Why is everyone thinking Mkhi is no longer nailed? One game on bench is enough to decide?

    Am I missing something?

      Just that.

He was never nailed. One of him, Ozil, Ramsey and Lacazette has to be benched

      1. Ruth_NZ
        • 11 Years
        7 years, 11 months ago

        ...or Aubameyang of course. 😉

But if we take the n-word out of it, the OP has a good point. Emery did say before the Cardiff game that he would be using specific tactics for that game so his team could be more direct, in order to answer Cardiff's long-ball approach. Previously he has said that his objective is for Arsenal to control games through possession and that playing 2 strikers would be the exception rather than the rule.

So, who knows what kind of formation he will use at Newcastle? Frankly, the current bullishness about Lacazette bewilders me a bit. People seem to think that a player that has started one game in four so far is now a surefire starter.

As an Arsenal fan I think Lacazette will play against weaker teams and benched against weaker teams

Was replaced by Laca with Auba moving out wide and apparently they looked pretty well going forward, many think Ozil should be dropped in favour of Mkhi but Ozil is there highest paid player, also mkhi has played 180 minutes of international football over the break where as Ozil hasn’t played at all. Forgive me if I’m wrong but this is what I think the concessions is

Yes, just got him last week. I am giving it two more weeks before I finally decide have more clear information.

It's regarding Arsenal formation I guess - but coach is not yet settled into any formation. I already have Obameyang and I am finding it difficult to find a more nailed Arsenal midfielder than Mkhi.

Pedro is class but how nailed-on is he under Sarri? Could he be sometimes limited to a finisher role? Sarri is a fascinating fella. Part-time footballer to a top line coach.

So Willian only played 65 minutes over the international break, how many minutes do you think Pedro will get over the next 2 games, my guess would be

    60 vs Cardiff
    30 vs West ham

Remember there is also PAOK in between and Liverpool in the league cup after the second so plenty of minutes for Willian, if he is indeed second choice

Having watched Napoli play and seeing how he has wanted a creative and a direct winger pairing I think Pedro will be first choice. But I have no more evidence than that. I am a happy owner at the moment

I think he’s great if you already own him, just thinking about bringing him in for Walcott, I think he’ll score well against Cardiff but have my doubts about him long term

I’ve had him from the start but I wouldn’t be bringing him in now. He’s in no way certain to start this weekend. If I had to guess I’d agree that he’ll end up first choice but second guessing managers isn’t a good idea in fpl. We need to be sure of our picks. The only reason he’s in my team is that I’ve got other problems to sort first.

I think it's also the alternatives. At his price point the only player I'm very interested in is RIcharlison. Maybe waiting for him to be back is better. If your alternative is James Maddison (possibly the most overrated FPL asset of all time) then I'd go Pedro any day

FWIW I'm looking at bringing him in if Walcott is still a doubt at the weekend. He's a pretty low-risk punt with 2 great fixtures who I could then shift to Rich with minimal hassle or keep if he proves his worth.

    What yous guys think?

    McCarthy

Kane and Sterling are great differentials, but could backfire as well. You might go Sterling -> Hazard and then spend that money to upgrade your bench.
Also, just curious, why pick McCarthy over Patricio?

    2. caldracula
      • 10 Years

Lovely team bar Kane, just think he’s not had enough rest, Lukaku on form and also a great differential, also good fixtures.

Good to go? WC team - need some differentials..
Want to push away in my mini leagues and everyone has Salah/Robertson etc..

    McCarthy/Patricio

    Alonso/Mendy/Holebas/Bennett/Cook

    Hazard/Mane/Maddison/Fraser/Hughes

    Aguero/Lukaku/Wilson

    1. Dion D's Solo Shower
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 11 months ago

      I like it!
You may need to worry about Fraser though.. But you could just bench him for this GW, it may not be too serious.
But maybe consider Bennett -> AWB? I know everyone has him, but there's a reason why..

  11. Dion D's Solo Shower
    • 8 Years
    7 years, 11 months ago

How does this WC team look? Any suggestions?

    Patricio - Hennessey
    Alonso - Trippier - Mendy - AWB - Bennett
    Mané - Hazard - Gray - Pedro - Højbjerg
    Lacazette - Aguero - Wilson

Should I consider Vert over Trippier to reduce the risk of rotation?
    And I'm thinking Pedro -> Lingard/Richarlison in GW 7.

    4. HamezMace

I disagree to some extend, I'll try and give you an example.

Players who are totally nailed - Kane, Lukaku. Both will play if fit to play of course, they are nailed because of how important they are to their teams, and how much better they are than the alternatives available. Llorente doesn't even play when Kane is injured, Poch would rather play Son/Alli as a false 9.

Then you have players like Alonso, Aguero, who are certainly 'first choice' or what people here term 'pretty much nailed', and that is because although they are first choice, they have a history of injuries, or being rotated because of the nature of the position they play (more kM run over 90 minutes) and there is a player of decent quality available to play in there position.

What are your thoughts on captains this week?

I'm currently on Aguero at home to Fulham. He seems to be so much more reliable as a captain when at home and Fulham have been leaky. Could be in for another haul like against Huddersfield.

Hazard also a potential captain, but can see Aguero scoring more.

Played every minute so far and scored in the last game, don’t see why he would be dropped now?

Any Wolves fans can tell me if they think Traore could start the next game? I quite like him as a player

Don’t see Nuno changing his starting line up just yet. Reckon Costa will start and Traore will continue to be impact sub for now...

There was some talk of a Jimenez knock yesterday.

Who should start: Arnautovic or King?

Also on the bench are Bissaka and Peltier.

      plans to bring in Richarlison?

I like the back line. I personally would be tempted to go Salah to Mane and then upgrade Fraser or Wilson, but each their own!

    A) Transfer in Wilson this week
    B) Wait a week and transfer in Richarlison

Both options would be to start in XI. Both being transferred in for bench fodders
