Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Gregor’s WC RMT

Begovic McCarthy

Mendy Robertson Alonso Doherty AWB

D.Silva Salah Ramsey Pedro Ward

Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

Goalkeepers

Begovic and McCarthy – I like to have a choice of goalkeepers and someone to fall back on in case of injuries, etc; I also don’t trust Hamer so i’ve gone with these two.  Their home fixtures normally rotate quite well – McCarthy’s looking good for saves and Bournemouth seem to have tightened up at the back.  I also like the Patricio and Hennessey rotation but as I’ve got those defences covered I decided to look elsewhere.

Defence

The holy trinity – Alonso, Mendy and Robertson.  Don’t think this needs much explaining other than to say I had started the season with Van Dijk due his threat at corners and feeling that Robertson will miss the odd game around the Champions League, but given Van Dijk has yet to have a single shot and the strength of my 4th and 5th defenders to fall back on, I’m now going with Robbo.

Doherty and Wan-Bissaka – Bargainous attack minded defenders playing for solid defensive outfits and their favourable fixtures seem to rotate rather nicely.  I may even play Doherty over Robertson this week.

Midfielders

David Silva – Nicely priced, posting good underlying numbers and hopefully should be pretty secure for starts for the time being at least given his international retirement and De Bruyne’s absence.

Salah – The Egyptian Messi – He stays.

Ramsey – Looks to be more in favour than Mkhitaryan and should thrive in a central attacking role. A nice differential with good fixtures, all for a reduced £7.4m.

Pedro – Probably a placeholder for Richarlison who I might look to bring back in a week or two but will see how it goes. Nice and rested during the international break so will hopefully compensate for having no Hazard over the next couple of plum fixtures for Chelsea.

Danny Ward – Easily benched given Cardiff’s fixtures but has an attacking threat that you don’t often find at his price. I also like the look of Hojbjerg though and could go with him to save an extra £0.1m.

Forwards

Aguero – If I hadn’t wildcarded I would have seriously considered playing my triple captain on Kün this weekend; the leaky Fulham defence seems a much better bet for a haul than the well organized Newcastle one last time out.

Mitrovic – Probably my biggest regret so far this season is not sticking with Mitrovic in my initial draft and going with King due to fixtures.  I fancy he might even do well at City this weekend in what I hope to be an open game.

Wilson – Form and fixtures align to make Wilson hard to resist, more shots in the box than any other player this season and if he can start converting more big chances then he’ll really be in business. I barely even considered him at the start of the season as I had him last year and he did nothing for ages but it’s an easy downgrade to Ings or Jiminez if the goals do dry up.

Notes

No Man United, as I don’t trust them at the moment and a win over an insipid Burnley could just be papering over the cracks.

No Spurs due to stadium issues, potential fatigue given their players international excursions, and a tough Champions League group. Might look at changing David Silva to Son or Moura in a few weeks though if one of those looks to have secured their start.

Conclusion

What do you think of my team? Where have I gone right and where have I gone wrong?

What does your WC team look like?

Don’t forget to reply to others while you’re here!

It is maverick but looks ok. A bit risky in midfield though. I would probably do Lukaku > Vardy and upgrade if you want to keep a similar structure

Gonna keep Holebas because Shaw is a needless short-term concern. Holebas looks worth the money, even if he may sit out a couple for AWB. Prefer Mitro and Fraser atm.

      That is almost my team.

I'm currently on Salah and Ings instead of Pedro and Lukaku, just because the amount of chances that Salah has had makes me think that he'll deliver well also against tougher opponents. More space for counter-attack should also be good for him.

RMT please, feeling fairly ok but have some considerations.... definitely open to advice/comments

    McCarthy, Hennessey;
    Alonso, Mendy, Robertson, Holebas, AWB
    Hazard, Mikhitaryan, Mane, Hojberg, Schurrle
    Vardy, Ings, Aguero

Vardy + Hojberg or Mitrovic + Pedro?
I'm a bit worried Pedro isn't nailed and think Vardy is a very good differential and has a great run of fixtures

    Mikhitaryan vs Moura?

    Wildcard done, RMT please

    Begovic (Foster)
    Mendy Alonso Pereira Doherty (W-B)
    Mane Hazard DSilva (Richarlison Billing)
    Wilson Aguero Mitro

Going very basic/template-y here bc there's some easy money to be made in a couple of my mini leagues, but this should be pretty solid for a while?

Plan is to get Salah in around GW9, should be plenty of room/money for that.

How good are we actaully feeling about Wilson?

I would prefer to argue about this statement....... What has shown Wilson....2 goals against weakest defenses (cardiff/ west ham/everton). Also he lost the penalty spot. Mane scored 40% of his shots. In the long term he will go down between 10-20%.

Lukaku is a good choice as he scores against weaker teams....together with fraser/schurle....who knows

            Great,

Also, the RMT build my team tool gives Hazard (7.25) a clear advantage over Aguero (6.55) for the captaincy this week as well which i thought was a bit surprising

Bilva or Mkhi have to go. Probably Bilva played enough time and I would change him to Madison as he has good fixtures and seems to be nailed.

As Jonty said, Bilva will get at least 15 minutes every week, cameo versus a weary opponent is still good enough. Mkhi > Gray & Robbo > Alonso +0.8

Looks good enough to hold I think.

Mkhi, Bilva, Shaw obviously worries. And Pelt. But I don't know where I'd move - Mkhi > Ramsey feels sideways but could be good.

Bilva > Pedro maybe? Could wait until next week and get Richarlison

Not on WC but had a look at a differential WC (less than 10% ownership)

    Vorm, Bettinelli
    Laporte, Monreal, Luiz, Pereira, Bennett
    DSilva, Sterling, Eriksen, Ramsey, Westwood
    Lukaku, Vardy, Ings

Aside from obvious flaws (no chels/pool attack and lack of premium wingbacks due to ownership rule) I reckon it's pretty good

Some interesting punts, but like below - are you confident in going with just Bego as fire and forget? Bou could be decent options defensively but I don't think I'd be that confident in them

      1. Will Grigg's on Fire

I am not confident. They are the team with one of the best next 6 fixtures.....the other 4.5 options does not impress me....and a nailed GK like Alisson/Ederson is like a suicide (when you need 3rd from Pool or City.....). Pedro and Moura will be downgraded in the future...so I may find funds for a rotation Begovic/McCarthy

Sounds good TC, rolling a FT is very under-rated around these parts. Still got a WC available?

Yup WC available. Just used two transfers all season, been lucky with injuries/suspensions.

The suggestion is good but my main issue with that is that it would give me massive benching headaches every week being forced to bench two of Shaw, Bissaka and Ings. I'm struggling as it is having benched Ings for Bissaka last GW.

Yep very true. Personally I'd be happy enough to bench Ings and Wan B regularly and use them sparingly through the season, but I can see how might be annoying.

Thinking about it, you'd be playing 4-5-1 then, a formation I'm really not a fan of...

          I don't think I'm being a help here! 😉

If Ings (5.5) and Bissaka (4.0) represented those price points then I would have no issues benching them most weeks. But Ings is at least a 6.0 striker, maybe even 6.5. Bissaka should clearly have been 4.5 in hindsight. So I'm thinking of them as 6.5 and 4.5 players and I'd seldom bench them if that's what they cost. With a premium defence plus big hitters in both midfield and attack I believe it's important to fill the rest of your XI with cheap value players (instead of letting them rot on the bench most weeks).

Of course you're helping! My opinion isn't exactly gospel. Nice to hear different opinions and reflecting on this.

Lots of good players there, hope the rotation works out nicely for them - got a feeling you might have a lot of benched points, which isn't necessarily a bad thing 😉

Still not a fan of a 4.5 & Hamer combo, but the saved cash has made your team v. nice

I'm not really a fan of the 4.5 Hamer combo, but I can't really find another one that works and is cheap.

Afternoon, all. Wildcard team coming together, would appreciate your thoughts:

    Patricio & [4.5?]
    Alonso, Mendy, Chilwell, AWB, Bennett
    [Mane], Pedro, Hazard, D.Silva, Hojbjerg
    Aguero, Mitrovic, [Ings]

    Key questions...
    (1) Not sure who to get for my second keeper.
    (2) The above leaves me 1.4 ITB so can either save it and bring in Zaha when he's definitely fit, punt on Zaha this week, or even go for Arnie.
    (3) Tempted to swap Mane and Ings for Moura & Lacazette... too risky not to have any Liverpool attackers??

Who is the better option out of Demarai Gray and Adama Traore?

If Adama can nail a starting place, him. Both pretty poor options.

    Thanks!

    Patricio - Hamer

    Hazard - Mane - Pedro - Maddison - Stephens
    Aguero - Lukaku - Jimenez

My ideal WC Team (0.4m ITB)

    Ederson (Hamer)
Alonso - Mendy - Chilwell (Holebas - AWB)
Salah - Hazard - Richarlson - Fraser (Biling)
    Aguero - Mitrovic - Ings

Not sure what the best move to make is with my cheap mids
    A) Richarlson --> Pedro for 1 week
    B) Fraser --> Gray until hes fit
    C) Both
    D) Neither

    TAA, Mendy, Alonso
    Fraser, Salah, Haz, Lucas
    Jimenez, Aguero, Zaha
    Speroni, AWB, Kabasele, Odoi
    0.7 ITB 1 FT.
3 players have 75% chance but feel like i should hold and wait for 2FT next week

        Because of Dilva?

He wont start every game. Vardy will. Hence the hesitation.

Dilva is a big factor surely and he more nailed now with kdb out and no more matches in IB.

WC activated with 0.2 ITB left...

Is it important to have two playing keepers? Should I downgrade Holebas to Bennett? to upgrade Hamer to Hennessey/McCarthy?

    Patricio - Hammer
    Robertson - Alonso - Mendy - Holebas - AWB
    Salah - Hazard - Moura - Fraser - Billing
    Aguero - Mitrovic - Ings

Any other thoughts are much appreciated!

I'd say its worth the risk as Holebas is great, so long as you're going to play him. I prefer 2 playing goalies, but doesn't mean it right tho.. Looks good..

Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking that I would gain more with Holebas than by picking the wrong GK each week.

I am not playing with the coin. It is always best to use one GK....well who knows with my luck from 32GW last season...still continue.
