There are plenty of options to help Fantasy Premier League managers invest in Manchester City’s attack for Gameweek 5.

The defending champions are facing a leaky Fulham defence at home on Saturday with a lot of attention on Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), but we’ve found there’s a case to be made for his strike partner too.

Elsewhere, we’ve got routes into the Southampton defence and Leicester attack to help propel you up the rankings.

Gabriel Jesus (£10.4m)

Ownership: 2.0%

If Gabriel Jesus starts for Manchester City in Gameweek 5, he has the potential to score very big. Fulham look set to concede heavily in this one with no side allowing more shots in the penalty box than the Cottagers in the first four Gameweeks.

Jesus has a good chance of capitalising on that having actually bettered Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) in some areas so far this season. He is ahead on minutes per shot in the penalty box, minutes per shot on target, and minutes per pass received too.

The Brazilian has played fewer minutes than his Argentinian in 2018/19 (187 to 335) having started half as many times. That could mean that he is named on the bench against Fulham, but he has started alongside Aguero in both home matches so far. If that trend continues in Gameweek 5, then he could match or even outscore his more popular colleague.

Jannik Vestergaard (£4.9m)

Ownership: 0.4%

Southampton’s towering centre-back has the potential for a big score in Gameweek 5 with a clean sheet and attacking returns all achievable for him.

The Southampton defence is expected to do well on Monday night as they host a Brighton side that has been largely ineffective on the road.

The Seagulls are currently the worst side in the league for big chances and shots on target recorded in away games.

The Saints admittedly rank fourth worst for big chances conceded at home, and only five sides have allowed more shots on target. However, goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) is third for saves so far and second for xG prevented. That suggests the Saints will concede less and keep more clean sheets than their underlying numbers suggest.

Furthermore, Vestergaard carries some goal threat having scored seven times in his spell with Borussia Monchengladbach. Brighton look primed to concede from set pieces having allowed more attempts from such situations than any side other than Cardiff and Newcastle.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 3.3%

Leicester City’s talismanic striker Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is set to return to action in Gameweek 5 after serving a three-match suspension.

His absence since his sending off in Gameweek 2 has caused the typically well-backed striker to drop to just 3.3% ownership, giving him the potential to be a powerful differential.

The Foxes rank highly for attack on our Season Ticker currently with a trip to Bournemouth coming up in Gameweek 5. After that, Leicester face a home match against Huddersfield, an away match at Newcastle before hosting Everton.

Vardy can be very effective for that run of matches having scored at least 20 goals in two of the last three seasons.

I don't think it will take 2-3 weeks for him to be eased back in. He's available for selection. I expect him to start in midweek.

Shaw looks best option to me, even if out this week, its a concussion so should be able to go right back in the week after if out.

Next best option for me is Sakho at palace, good fixtures, bonus point mad, and must be as nailed on to start as you can get.

Hey guys. People that are gonna wait one more week on mikhy. Why do you think he will start? He played both of international games while ozil played none. Laca wont be dropped after the man of the match performance last week. Ozil played 0 in internation and received praise from manager post match last week and for some reason he really likes him. So what are the odds he is gonna start. Surely its 0 or 1 right?

    3. MTPockets
      7 years, 10 months ago

I don't think he'll start (so benched). Just that waiting a week gives me 2FT or even 3 for -4 when I can properly fix him, rather than opting for another rotation risk or meh mid-priced mid.

As a liverpool fan firmino out would be recommended, he is dropping deeper than ever so far this season. Vardy or a left field choice i really like is morata, he has to score goals this that midfield behind him surely.

      Looks grand.

Personally Hamer is too risky for me, it's unclear who is first choice. Backline is perfect.
Pogba is a punt, I'm still waiting to see if Man U can turn a corner. Two weeks ago they were looking like they were going to implode. I would have Mitrovic on a WC, ditch Vardy and upgrade Pogba to Mane.

I think Mikhi coming on for a solitary minute was a one off. There were two occasions earlier in the game when he was almost brought on, then Arsenal scored. I believe in future he will be more like Pedro, either starts and gets 60 or 70mins, or comes on as a sub for 20-30mins against tiring defences.

Might be right - and that seems to do Pedro no harm. Just seemed odd that they had defenders on the bench at 2-3 yet he came on.

Probably because he was already warmed up.

Would you prefer to Start Wan Bissaka (away at Hud) or Shaw (away at Wat)?

leaning towards WB since Watford have been doing well and Shaw is not 100 % sure to start per Mou's comments. Just feels kinda yucky benching Man U defenders.

        o0o is this new info?

Last I saw from Mou on Shaw:

“I don’t know – we still have a training session,” said Mourinho.

“Contrary to some news, to some opinions, by the protocol point of view and according to our doctor, he will be free to play.

“The only situation we have to analyse is if you are going to play him when, during the week, he was not training with the team or if, even, he decides to play”.

        Thanks for the response mang.

Wan. I think Watford more likely to score than Hudders.
