There are plenty of options to help Fantasy Premier League managers invest in Manchester City’s attack for Gameweek 5.

The defending champions are facing a leaky Fulham defence at home on Saturday with a lot of attention on Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), but we’ve found there’s a case to be made for his strike partner too.

Elsewhere, we’ve got routes into the Southampton defence and Leicester attack to help propel you up the rankings.

Gabriel Jesus (£10.4m)

Ownership: 2.0%

If Gabriel Jesus starts for Manchester City in Gameweek 5, he has the potential to score very big. Fulham look set to concede heavily in this one with no side allowing more shots in the penalty box than the Cottagers in the first four Gameweeks.

Jesus has a good chance of capitalising on that having actually bettered Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) in some areas so far this season. He is ahead on minutes per shot in the penalty box, minutes per shot on target, and minutes per pass received too.

The Brazilian has played fewer minutes than his Argentinian in 2018/19 (187 to 335) having started half as many times. That could mean that he is named on the bench against Fulham, but he has started alongside Aguero in both home matches so far. If that trend continues in Gameweek 5, then he could match or even outscore his more popular colleague.

Jannik Vestergaard (£4.9m)

Ownership: 0.4%

Southampton’s towering centre-back has the potential for a big score in Gameweek 5 with a clean sheet and attacking returns all achievable for him.

The Southampton defence is expected to do well on Monday night as they host a Brighton side that has been largely ineffective on the road.

The Seagulls are currently the worst side in the league for big chances and shots on target recorded in away games.

The Saints admittedly rank fourth worst for big chances conceded at home, and only five sides have allowed more shots on target. However, goalkeeper Alex McCarthy (£4.5m) is third for saves so far and second for xG prevented. That suggests the Saints will concede less and keep more clean sheets than their underlying numbers suggest.

Furthermore, Vestergaard carries some goal threat having scored seven times in his spell with Borussia Monchengladbach. Brighton look primed to concede from set pieces having allowed more attempts from such situations than any side other than Cardiff and Newcastle.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 3.3%

Leicester City’s talismanic striker Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is set to return to action in Gameweek 5 after serving a three-match suspension.

His absence since his sending off in Gameweek 2 has caused the typically well-backed striker to drop to just 3.3% ownership, giving him the potential to be a powerful differential.

The Foxes rank highly for attack on our Season Ticker currently with a trip to Bournemouth coming up in Gameweek 5. After that, Leicester face a home match against Huddersfield, an away match at Newcastle before hosting Everton.

Vardy can be very effective for that run of matches having scored at least 20 goals in two of the last three seasons.

The tweet about Walcott is a bit misleading as he didn’t actually say “in contention” and yet those words are in quotes. Unless there was another presser? He just said that he was OK.

Still don't understand why Andy wildcarded before the pressers?

He missed loads of price rises because he wanted to wait for the "info".

He then wildcarded a couple of hours before he heard the "info" from the pressers ... and all the players he was waiting on (i.e. Walcott, Zaha) where passed fit!

he's a big boy. listen to mark's views, sure, but follow his every word, come on. it's only gw4/5, maybe he wildcarded because he wanted to wildcard

Now is not the time, but I think there'll be a ton more who get found out this year because Mark's not leading them. Incredible how much power the man had. Remember him single-handedly starting a Coutinho bandwagon 1-2 years ago when no one was even considering him.

P.S. Just clarifying, I wasn't commenting on Andy but just in general. His wildcard is for him to use, whenever he decides. Don't see why he has to justify the timing.

    Patricio - (Foster)
    Mendy - Robbo - (WB) - Boly - Alonso
    Maddison - (Wally) - Haz - Mane - (Odoi)
    Zaha - Kun - Arnie (0FT, 1.2 ITB)

How's she doing for the week? Not a WC.

    Foster - Fabianski
    Mendy - Robbo - WanB - Tomkins* - Schelotto
    Wally* - Mane - Salah - Miki - Fraser*
    Ings - Arnie - Aguero

    A: Tomkins+Wally -> Alonso + Ward (-4)
    B: Fraser+Tomkins -> Alonso + Højbjerg (-4)
    C: Fraser+Tomkins+Wally -> Ward+Alonso+Maddison (-8)

    Or just play wildcard

    Any suggestions.....?

A couple of questions for the upcoming 4/5 GWs:

    1. Given the tight schedule for Liverpool, and Shaqiri available as a sub for Salah post 70-80 minutes - is it worthwhile to consider Mane + Haz (given fixtures) as potentially more rewarding for the near future?

    2. I know everyone has Aguero and 1/2 budget forwards - but is Aub/Laca a good pick considering the kind fixtures (so two expensive forwards up top)?

    3. Finally, why is there so little love for Kane? And if you are considering getting him in, when and who do you sacrifice?

    Cheers!

      1. Who knows. community is split.
      2. No, better premium options (Aguero, Hazard, Salah, Mane, Lukaku)
      3. Once he hits top form. Probably will have to lose Salah for it to be possible

Thank you! And fair point on Aub/Laca - I just felt that Arsenal attacking coverage would be necessary for their kind run of fixtures. Probably better to look for that in the midfield.

On Kane, feels very weird to consider him as a differential in FPL - but yeah, would need to lose big players to get him in

      1. Yes
      2. Yes (Laca. for me)
3 Own him. (No kun, but have Sterling + Dilva)

Haha, thanks for the reply - feels good to have someone considering an Arsenal forward. But I'm still tweaking my team (wildcard) every few hours.

No Aguero and Kane could potentially be a super differential - though I assume that means a very jittery 90 minutes watching City play.

Worst time is the Citeh team sheets. :). I think Laca. has made a big statement to his manager and would be surprised if he doesn't reward him now. You have to feel that the Arse attack can get something big soon but I have swerved it tbh.

I trust Kane and he will be cemented.

I think Pep has Assassin's Creed motto as his own - Nothing is true, everything is permitted 🙂

Spoilt for choice, and he might just decide one day that Stones should play up front in one GWsl - it's an absolute nightmare waiting for the team sheet, I agree 😀

Trolls frequently. Plus with Mourinho, you never know which United is going to show up. Inspite of his brace for Belgium, can't see him regularly getting points

I have Shaw and Fraser in my starting 11 and AWB and Mitro on my bench. Is it worth leaving it this way on the off chance either/both of Shaw and Fraser will start, or is there a risk either/both of Shaw and Fraser might come on for just a few minutes and not just be replaced by my own sub options?

(Sorry if this is worded poorly... English isn't my first language.)
