Harry Kane (£12.5m) is already the runaway leader of our Gameweek 8 captain poll, but do those currently not in possession of the Spurs forward need to sign him?

That is the big question on the minds of many Fantasy Premier League managers this week, especially with Liverpool and Manchester City options potentially cancelling each other out.

We’ve gone over some of Kane’s numbers from the first seven Gameweeks and compared them with how he was faring 12 months ago, to see if it’s worth selling the likes of Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) or Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) to get him in.

    Interesting listening to Joe's justification for bringing in Kane this weekend as this is a general talking point.

    So he's essentially looking at 2-4 transfers to make that move. He thinks there could be a 20-30 point swing for Kane cappers this week. For a 30 point swing you'd be looking at Kane scoring a hatrick AND Aguero(C) blanking. Those two events occurring together are not that likely. What's a more likely outcome, Kane scores 2 and Kun 1? That's closer to a 10 point swing, and this isn't even accounting for the change he'll have to make elsewhere and the impact of that.

    2-4 transfers for a potential swing that's more likely to occupy the 5-15 bracket than the 15-30?

    Sounds to me like those transfers could be more valuable setting a team up throughout for mid/longer term, especially with the WC burned

      I understand the move if you've got an FT or 2 in the bank and nothing more pressing. For me it's just not worth the chew when I have Aguero, will definitely want him back for BUR & am happy to captain Hazard.

        But he owns Ings away to Chelsea! Players like Deeney and Gray face BOU. 2-4 transfers hokey cokeying a single budget striker with plum home fixtures is a nicer option imo

      Yup. I considered this briefly. Not worth it by far. This does not even consider the team value loss if applicable plus that Liverpool Man city fixture may see some goals as well and that Kane has a a decent chance of just scoring one goal or less.

      I think your wrong.

      Agueros never scored at Anfield. So I genuinly think it’s more likely that Aguero blanks and Kane scores a hat trick.

        I agree. And I wouldn't be too swayed by Kun's record of 2 assists in 6 at Anfield. Only 3 games under Pep and City and Aguero have improved in time

    Watching Pool v City matches of the last 2 seasons and it does feel a bit wrong to get rid of Aguero. The guy is just so good. If it were me I'd find other ways of getting Kun. Don't think I'll be getting Kane though. Will bring in Trippier for Mendy though and maybe cheekily captain Trippier.

      I'm not a fan of those transfers personally. There may be some merit to offloading Silva but Ings is a good option long term imo. Maybe just switch Silva and keep 2FT for the international break?

    Really might have to drop Fraser to play Robertson this week. I can see the Watford Bournemouth being a 1-1 type of game and I just need to pray that Fraser doesn't get involved too much. Where as I see the City Liverpool game being a 2-2 and Robertson could easily get attacking returns.

        Az isn't right. Knockaert's last two games were vs Spurs and Mcy. His heatmap is understandably a lot further back. Against worse teams, he will have far more influence going forward.

    I’m clearly at risk from losing lots of points on the bench but BOU double up didn’t appeal and I think Fraser edges Wilson. AWB is great but I fancy Doherty to return more than him

    Still have my WC and will play either during IB or try and hold

    Some analysis I've just done for those interested:

    For the 8 GWs from GW9 (so after Kane vs Cardiff), I've taken a look at the 6 weakest defences (imo) and who faces them most.

    These are Cardiff, Huddersfield, Fulham, Brighton, Burnley (controversial I know) and Southampton.

    So scores out of a maximum of 8, notables are:

    Liverpool 4 - 2H, 2A
    Leicester 4 - 1H, 3A
    West Ham 3 - 2H, 1A
    Wolves 3 - 1H, 2A

    Others include Man City (2H), Everton (2H) and Chelsea (1H, 1A).

    These teams have all been predictably bad against "better" opposition. The exception being Brighton holding Man City to just two goals perhaps.

    I'm looking at using my next 3-4 free transfers to bring in players exclusively from these teams.

    Maybe not groundbreaking, but useful nonetheless.
