It’s all about Harry Kane in the world of Fantasy Premier League this week, and with good reason.

In this latest article I’ll be giving my thoughts on whether he’s worth signing for Gameweek 8 as well as touching on a few other areas.

They include Manchester City rotation and my plans for budget options in defence and attack.

To Kane or not to Kane?

Kane is the standout captaincy option in the final Gameweek before the dreaded international break as Spurs host Cardiff. A brace against Huddersfield last week and a goal against the mighty Barcelona on Wednesday night has FPL managers ripping up their teams to fit him in.

Will he send his backers into the break buzzing or will he frustrate in a so called ‘easy fixture’ like he has done many times before? Is he back to his best or is it chasing last week’s points?

Whether you’re on the Kane train or not, Saturday’s game at Wembley is sure to be entertaining.

When I finish typing this, I’m going to hoover my living room, paying more attention than usual to the area behind the couch because that’s where I’ll be from 3pm to 5pm on Saturday.

As much as I’d like to own Kane and captain him this weekend, I don’t want to lose Eden Hazard, Mohamed Salah or Sergio Aguero to do so. Spurs have a tricky run of fixtures after the Cardiff match and he hasn’t passed my eye test yet this season.

The David Silva myth

There’s a belief among some in the FPL community that David Silva can’t play three games in a week because a ‘source’ claiming to be ‘close to the player’ said so. This information came out when the Spaniard was rested for the Cardiff game. Since then, he’s played three games in seven days against Oxford United, Brighton and Hoffenheim.

Like the Sergio Aguero fiasco in Gameweek 2, the lesson here is to trust your instincts rather than those of others who claim to be ‘in the know’. I expect to see Silva’s name on the City team sheet for the Liverpool game on Sunday. He’s pivotal for them while Kevin De Bruyne is out, and he’s got two weeks to put his feet up afterwards, having retired from international football.

That said, even though I think he’ll play this weekend, Silva could be the makeweight in a double move I make to improve my strike force. Five games without a goal for Callum Wilson has me worried and losing patience. I’m eyeing up Marko Arnautovic to replace him with Richarlison coming in for Silva.

The Holebas roller coaster

As the clock ticked past eighty minutes at the Emirates on Saturday, Holebas was looking good for an unlikely clean sheet and three bonus points. It was too good to be true. He’s now scored me a grand total of two points from three matches since I brought him in after accumulating thirty-four points in the opening four Gameweeks.

I’ll be taking another ride on the Holebas roller coaster this week, so you can be certain that he’ll pick up his fifth yellow card of the season after Callum Wilson wipes out his clean sheet!

Good luck to all in Gameweek 8 and stay strong during the international break.

You can follow the FPL General on Twitter HERE. He has achieved three top 500 finishes in the last four seasons.

Only way I can get to Kane is a -4 and lose Vardy (+ Mendy) worth it?

    A) Vardy > Kane -4
    B) Walcott > Son/Moura

Vardy seems to be hitting form. Wait for Mendy update I suppose.

Thus seems the sensible option I guess

Although expecting Pep to be as vague on Mendy this week as he was last...

    Morning guys,

2FT and no idea what to do. I'd like to have 2FT for the Int Break so need to do a transfer really.

    Ederson
    Alonso / Chilwell / AWB
    Salah / Maddison / Fraser / Hazard (C)
    Jimenez / Mitrovic / Aguero
    (Hamer / Robertson / Doherty / Billing)

    £0 ITB. Any ideas?
    Cheers

I've thought about that, but would mean using both FTs and I'd only then want Salah straight back. Still an option though. Cheers

Kinda is, don’t use, you lose. You cannot carry over unlimited trades. 2 max. A hate this rule. Should be unlimited. Anyway, if you use 1 trade, yes, you’ll still have 2 free transfers next gw.

    Hart/Hennessey

    Alonso/Laporte/TAA/Wan B/Bennet
    Salah/Hazard/Morrison/Richarlison/Højberg
    Aguero/Mitrovic/Wilson

I have two free transfers but nothing in the bank. I used my wildcard already

    a) Aguero and Wilson ---> Arnautovic and Lacazzette ( bring aguero back GW9)
    b) Richarlison adn Wilson ---> Arnautovic adn Fraser
    c) Do nothing

    Bottomed on last page.
    Simple A or B:

    A) Aguero to Kane for free and most likely reverse the move in GW9 or 11

    B) Save Ft, Hazard(c) and take the risk of falling 20-30 points behind if Kane hauls.

Team has no other issues as of now.
Getting Kane in and out will probaly mean I’ll have to delay my move for bringing a Pool defender & Arnie to around GW10-11 depending on when I plan to get Kun back.

    Cheers! 🙂

A is a good plan, but B is more practical and pragmatic. If you would like to captain Aguero against Burnley home than B, if you have other options play A.

Salah is obviously my other option to cap in GW9. That decision is going to be tough if it wasn’t Huddersfield then I would be certain of capping Kun in GW9.

    Fab
    Alonso, Robbo, Doherty

I'd be cautious about doubling up on a newly promoted teams defence for an away fixture...but it's such a tricky decision. I would probably play TAA over Doherty given that you have Rui in goal.....but go with your gut feeling.

I have thought about playing TAA, but for WB. To be fair Wolves have only conceded 2 goals in their last 5 games. Both 1-1 draws against the Manchester clubs. Tough one.

Unless your planning to WC over the IB then I’d say go for it.

"There’s a belief among some in the FPL community that David Silva can’t play three games in a week because a ‘source’ claiming to be ‘close to the player’ said so. This information came out when the Spaniard was rested for the Cardiff game. Since then, he’s played three games in seven days against Oxford United, Brighton and Hoffenheim.

Like the Sergio Aguero fiasco in Gameweek 2, the lesson here is to trust your instincts rather than those of others who claim to be ‘in the know’."

This wasn't some random journalist coming up with something for views, this is a guy that definitely knows David Silva.
Look at his post history: https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/members/bluwhit.38382/

He knew things about David Silva before anyone else posted them such as "Got a slight problem with his hip. 50/50 for Sunday. Last min decision (Sat) if he travels. Getting better though each day."

In the past he's correctly predicted that Silva would miss out on certain games, such as the West Ham game towards the end of last season: https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/david-silva-2017-18-performances.329627/page-130#post-10959714

Here's a picture of Bluwhit with David Silva: https://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/618809291479322624/EyrIBIZM_400x400.jpg

So I don't know why Silva ended up playing 3 times in a week, but Bluwhit is definitely in the know.

I found this article quite an irritating read. Like you I could recall there was some substance to a lot of the stuff we got fed about Silva previously.

Also it doesn't really answer the statement in the headline. Feels like clickbait, and that don't feel nice

Yeah, putting Bluwhit in the same group as that fraud from the Guardian is disrespectful IMO

                Defo still do Kane->Kun

All I am saying is you'll feel quite siilly taking Sane out for a hit ahead of a home game vs BUR

I’d be playing Doherty. If your mind is made up about getting Kane then do it but I’m not sure about the hit the following week I think I’d prefer Sane v Burnley than Hazard v United and just do that transfer for free after.

What do we think of this free hit team? Or more importantly, chances of it outscoring a team with Salah and Aguero...

        Hart
        Alonso Shaw Tripper
        Hazard Son Bilva Maddison
        Kane Vardy Arnie

There is a good chance ManC score but he wont be involved. Maybe Willian if Pedro not fit today? Dont know the news on Lingard but him or Martial? Players i would never get if not on FH, but one differential risk could be worth it on FH.

Would you WC this team this week

or do a -8 (Aguero, Salah & Pogba > Kane (c), Hazard & 9.5 MF) and WC next week instead

        Ederson Ryan

        Alonso Bellerin Boly Kabasele Cook

        Salah Pogba Richarlison Jorginho Fraser

        Mitrovic Aguero King

        1.6 ITB 1 FT

        Any ideas would be welcomed

Loving the desperation to get Kane in for a hit and potentially ditching Aguero and losing value only to want him back next week. Pass me the popcorn while I watch.
