Aside from all the talk about Harry Kane, there are still several differential options available in Gameweek 8.

We’ve picked out three more players owned by less than 5% of Fantasy Premier League managers who can help propel you up the overall rankings.

This week we are turning to assets at Leicester City, Wolves and Manchester United.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m)

Ownership: 4.8%

A Gameweek 2 sending off and the success of James Maddison (£6.9m) has hit Jamie Vardy‘s (£8.9m) ownership hard in the early part of 2018/19. But the Leicester City man is still a great option to own for Gameweek 8.

In the last four Gameweeks, only four players have registered more shots on target than Vardy. He also ranks joint-third for shots inside the box and is still on penalties for Leicester City.

His next opponents are an Everton side still with just one clean sheet to their name in 2018/19. Vardy is especially fond of the Toffees having scored four times and assisted twice in his last five Premier League matches against them. In that run, he has won two penalties, scoring two himself.

Vardy looks like a good option for long-term investment too with Arsenal (away), West Ham (home), Cardiff (away), Burnley (home) and Brighton (away) also coming up in the next six Gameweeks.

Adama Traoré (£5.5m)

Ownership: 0.6%

Adama Traoré (£5.5m) may not have started a match for Wolves yet, but he is certainly pushing for one. The rapid winger has promised attacking returns if he can get some more minutes on the pitch.

In the last four Gameweeks, Traore has managed five shots on target, the same as Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.9m). He has achieved that in a fraction of the minutes, registering just 105 to Aguero’s 271 and Salah’s 317.

Wolves go to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in Gameweek 8 and look like they will have plenty of opportunities to score. Only two sides have allowed more chances considered to be ‘big’ by Opta in home matches than Palace this season.

Chris Smalling (£5.8m)

Ownership: 2.2%

Any Manchester United player is going to be considered a differential for Gameweek 8 after their surprise defeat to West Ham last week.

However, the nature of their upcoming fixture demands some attention from Fantasy managers.

Newcastle United come to Old Trafford with just one away goal to their name this season. Furthermore, they have the lowest shot tally on the road in 2018/19 and are in the bottom efforts on target too.

A clean sheet looks on for Chris Smalling (£5.8m) and his United colleagues, and the centre-back promises some attacking threat too.

The Magpies are in the bottom three for set play attempts allowed away from home so far this season, and Smalling has already found the net once in 2018/19.

I'm convinced Zaha blanks against Wolves. Would it be foolish to do Zaha to Arnautovic for a hit?

You could still seek input from others, to see if they might say or know something you didn't know or hadn't thought of which might make you change your mind?

You're right. I'm not just sure if one should change his mind when getting couple of responses here, at least when you have clear idea what you want to do (or if you are convinced*). In this case of course he was also contemplating whether Arnautovic would get anything to justify that hit this week.

            I'd not take that hit.

I understand. And most likely you're right, but I think that 1. Sometimes people don't mean the words literally (a lot of people here are, like myself, don't have english as their native tongue which could play part in that) 2. Even if you are convinced there could be new info/input that could make you unconvinced and it could never hurt to see what people have to say (well, yeah obv sometimes it can hurt, I don't mean that literally 😉 )

Unlike almost everyone else who's advised you I'd say yes. Not because I necessarily think it will pay off but because:
        1. You think Zaha will blank and Arnie will score, people say that leaves you on break even (although it enables bonus points as well) but since it's what you think will happen, go for it.
        2. You'll have him for the future game weeks as well (I reckon *you* think it COULD even pay off this GW but if not then surely over the next 5?)
3.. FPL is for fun (at least for me) and it's more fun to have players you believe in.

Last year I think I took well over 200 point hits and still managed to finish with an OR of 761. My analysis is that point hits isn't something one should take too lightly too, however we shouldn't be too afraid of them either. Bottom line: if you think it will get you more points/fun, do it. After all, it's just FPL and if it doesn't pan out the way you'd hoped: "there's always next year" (as we Liverpool fans are used to saying..)

        whatever you choose, good luck!

Well over 200 point hits? If you're telling the truth I'd guess odds are against you that you can achieve similar rank many times with that playstyle 😀

Yeah mate, think it was 264. And I agree with you, it's not something to recommend. Last year was the first year I started playing seriously (other years I made a team and lost interest sometime during the fall and didn't log in after christmas).

However I stay by what I said in my initial post "My analysis is that point hits isn't something one should take too lightly too, however we shouldn't be too afraid of them either." A lot of those hits were points wasted and If I'd played more wisely I probably would've won the whole thing. However, a lot of those (especially early on) paid off and without any hits I probably would be nowhere near my final OR of 761.

Cheers! Unfortunately don't have any print screens or anything like that (or know if it's possible to get that information now?) but there where posts in it here last year where I tried to figure out if anyone had taken more hits than me, and what their OR was. When looking around the top100/1000 I couldn't find anyone who had taken any where *near* as many as I had (obviously, it's a stupid thing to do and most of the top1K are good at FPL and don't make stupid decisions)

Hmm.. I wouldn't. Just opinion but I don't see Hazard doing much in that game. After Chelseas last EL game they went goalless away to West Ham (and you know how their defense is). And Liverpool looked horrible vs Napoli in midweek and are probably tired, and Aguero and Silva are likely to start (we don't have to comment on their quality..)

As a Hazard owner and a Liverpool fan I hope that I'm wrong, even though I rarely am 😉

Also, Aguero and Silva both get rests during the IB (If I'm not mistaken, at least Silva does) which immensely increases their chance of 1. starting 2. playing well and they have Burnley at home. So you'd maybe want them for that game over Hazard v (a very defensive) Man United?

But if your gut/head says it's the right choice, go for it! Good luck!

You tend to bring in players that have already done well as opposed to looking at players who are likely to do well in the future with good fixtures. You tend to take the wrong approach.

So i will have 3 city players (Ederson, Bilva and Aguero) and TAA benched for the Looserpool - Manchester City derby. Should i hide behind sofa ?
Should i play TAA instead of Bilva ?
          Thanks

Won't be able to do Agüero> Kane for free as a short-term punt, though.

For the game on sunday, would you rather have mane (and no city cover) or sterling (and no pool cover)?

          Best pick here guys:

          a) aguero >>> kane (c)

          b) mendy/zaha >>> TAA/kane (c) -4

Option a) is tempting because obviously there isn't a -4 involved. but the downside is I lose aguero who i want for gw9 at home to burnley, so I'd have to reverse the transfer for gw9.

Option b) allows me get in TAA who has some great fixtures coming up, I lose mendy who could be back for gw9. but I have ederson so that kinda covers me if city get a clean sheet. also this option is for a -4

What do ye think guys ?
Appreciate yer thoughts on this one.
          Thanks.

0.7m in the bank, 0FT. Gtg?
          Fabianski
          AWB, Pereira, Alonso
          Salah, Hazard (C), Rich, Fraser
          Arnie (VC), Aguero, Mitrovic

          Subs: Hamer, Westwood, Robbo, Bennett.

Most would probably start Robbo over Pereira but a potential OOP start is too good to turn down for me. Any other changes needed?

          Patricio
          PVA, Duffy, Alonso, Robertson
          Salah, Hazard (C), Fraser, Richarlison
          Wilson, Kun

          Stecklenburg, Peltier, Stephens, Ings

          1.1 ITB, 1FT

Thinking I'll save this week. Could do Wilson->Arnie or Robbo->Trippier, but quite like the extra transfer over the IB. Either worth the transfer?

          Thanks!

Mendy not back yet I suppose. So you have to choose playing between robertson and WB, also the dilemma I am having coupled with a wolves defender. Apart from that looks good. Try not taking hits for the entirety of the season.

Would be great if Mendy played this weekend, but I guess that's unlikely.

Just one hit so far which was justified as I wouldn't have had 11 players otherwise, and it paid off in points.

I wouldn't start Mendy. He's very unlikely to play 90 minutes so I think you run the risk of a cameo with no CS potential and it's away to Liverpool anyway. I'd rather start Robbo in that game as LIV are at home and he'll play 90 minutes. I've got both PVA and Robbo in my team ahead of Ings; can't see SOU doing much against Chelsea.

Really tempted by Salah & Ings > Madison & (C) Kane. All thoughts/advice gratefully received:

          Reasoning:
I can keep Kun in my squad
Madison could be the next Michu, is at home to Everton and is feeding a quality striker
Salah struggling for form; snatching at chances ATM and has Man City next. Would I captain Salah over Kane v Cardiff or Kun v Burnley? I lose no value if I decide to bring him back GW10 for Cardiff at home.
          Ings has Chelsea next.
Kane seems to getting his confidence back; finding the net again and has Cardiff next and my rival doesn't have him

          Downside:
No Hazard but my rival does
Move would be for 2 GWs and Salah has Huddersfield away GW9

          Fabianski
          Tripper, Alonso, Boly, Wan-Bissaka
          Richarlison, Madison, Mane
          Agüero, Kane(C), Arnautovic
          Foster, Robertson, Neves, Cairney
