The second match of three this Sunday takes place at St. Mary’s at 14:15 BST, with Southampton welcoming Chelsea to the south coast.

Marcos Alonso (£6.9m) is the most-owned player on show here, sitting in 46% of Fantasy Premier League teams – though the Chelsea left-back hasn’t registered an attacking return in the last three Gameweeks and has only had two shots on goal during that period.

It is fair to say the primary focus of this fixture will be Eden Hazard (£11.2m). The Belgian midfielder is the most popular midfielder in FPL, owned by 44.8% of us, and was the most-bought player in any position in the run-up to Gameweek 8.

Hazard is the third-most-popular captaincy option of this round (over one million FPL bosses have placed their faith in him) and those handing him the armband will be optimistic of a better return than the “one-pointer” that Harry Kane (£12.5m) delivered on Saturday afternoon.

Maurizio Sarri has made one change to his Chelsea starting XI from the side that drew with Liverpool last weekend, with Ross Barkley (£5.7m) replacing Mateo Kovacic (£5.9m) in central midfield.

Pedro (£6.5m), meanwhile, is back among the substitutes.

Mark Hughes has changed shape and personnel for the visit of the Blues.

The usual 4-4-2 has been abandoned in favour of a 3-4-3, a system Hughes trialled in the Carabao Cup tie with Everton in midweek.

Jan Bednarek (£3.9m) and Maya Yoshida (£4.2m) join Wesley Hoedt (£4.4m) in central defence, while Manolo Gabbiadini (£5.6m) lines up alongside Nathan Redmond (£5.3m) and Danny Ings (£5.7m) in the front three.

Southampton XI (3-4-3): McCarthy; Bednarek, Hoedt, Yoshida; Cedric, Hojbjerg, Lemina, Bertrand; Redmond, Ings, Gabbiadini.

Chelsea XI (4-3-3): Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Barkley; Willian, Giroud, Hazard.

Kane failing and hazard doing well is just pure luck.

Yeah agree. Unless you had WC available still it was never a great move. People swayed too much by the back to back hatricks last year.

    3. Jafalad
      8 years, 20 days ago

Absolutely. Captaining Kane over Hazard is not though.

Kane not even close to scoring yesterday

Chelsea and hazard have been amazing so far this season and are playing soton who haven't been good at all.. ask any spurs fan and they'd tlel you how crap spirs have been this season. They have Huge issues going forward and apart from the United game they've looked horrific all season. It's not just luck if u actually watch the games tbh

      1. Valar(Keith)
        8 years, 20 days ago

That being said a punt in Kane would work.. but the players ppl took out for him and the number of hits for him in my ML has been one of the biggest knee jerk moves I've ever seen based on fear tbh

    6. DLL18
      8 years, 20 days ago

Not really, Southampton are terrible, Hazard's been on fire. Spurs were missing half their team, Cardiff were going to sit deep. The signs were there.

    7. fusen
      8 years, 20 days ago

      absolutely this.

I have Hazard and captained him, I don't own Kane.

The fact Kane blacked against Cardiff and Hazard has already scored before half time is luck.

People want to big up the idea of playing the odds, which is 100% true. You need to accurately predict things in FPL, but luck is still a HUGE factor

To think I had even considered binning hazard for Salah

    What a moronic thought.

If Chelsea had a couple other players who could play at the same level as Haz they would be a real force.

He would be ideal. Arnie can do what Giroud does (link play and flicks) but has pace and decent finishing

  9. Desperately Seeking Dusan

If Kane non owners had to hide behind the sofa yesterday, it’s going to be hell for those who captained Kane yesterday having to hide not only for this game where Haz has already scored, but an absolute horror show for those who ditched Salah and Kun - some for at least one hit - when that LIV-MCY game takes place. Who knows, could be a 4-3 like the last time they faced off at Anfield.

    3. Four Hit Wonder
      8 years, 20 days ago

Not for me because I own Haz and Laca and Alonso.

Kane/Kun owners mostly don't own Laca and are going with the likes of Arnie, Mitro, Zaha, Ings.

      1. Four Hit Wonder
        8 years, 20 days ago

        And Wilson 🙁

Kante is useless. Wasting Haz and Alonso assists.

    1. Cilly Bonnolly

He’s not a goalscorer but I think useless is a stretch.

    2. LD

Hardly useless. Kante isn’t a goal scorer

    3. Four Hit Wonder

I think he did well and got close, considering the skill set and the price.

      He might yet score.

Sarri doesn’t need to play Kante when playing defensive teams like this

      He absolutely does

    2. Ghost Gooner
      8 years, 20 days ago

Kante should sit in front of the defence and Alonso be let loose to attack mostly

  21. S.Kuqi

Selling Wilson for Kane for a hit and removing armband from Haz to Harry wasn't my finest moment of fpl.

On a side note. Ramsey Auba and Laca hat 5 shots, 5 goals.
Im going to break 70 as a (K)ane captainer and triple Spurs owner... things could've gone so much better.

Oh well 2 FTs to do Kane + Son to Arnie + Salah
