A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

    Bottomed

Already own robertson (no plan to make any of the moves till end of next week)

    A) kane and moura > Salah + firmino (-4) fancy firmino to step up over the next few games given the fixtures over laca

    B) alonso and moura > Salah + Bennett (-4)

    C) moura > mane (ft)

A, back Firmino over laca as well. One slight worry is Sturridge rotation though, could also lead to bobby playing deeper

Yeah I’m going to try make my moves as late as possible though and keep tabs on how everyone’s doing away on international duty. If Salah blanks for Egypt twice I may reconsider but those fixtures against hudd and Cardiff even then.. are so juicy.. lol

Prefer to have double Liverpool defense and one mid.

I reckon Robertson is gonna average like 8 points in the next 5 weeks. I really want him. But I also want Salah.

A looks okay but I'd pick someone who isn't Firmino so I could get another Pool def.

Is Murray worth a punt as third forward for next couple of months?
    Got Deeney at present.
Which defender to go with these, Alonso, TTA, Docherty, AWB......? 7 m to spend.

4 of the next 6 for Brighton are away from home, not a hope would I bring Murray in even if the opposition is weak.

It not worth a hit imo, can you not transfer Mendy in for the Burnley game? and keep Moura for West Ham game, then do the transfer for the game week after.

Ahhh, i see, you could just make both the transfers after next game week when you have the 2FT as you have a good team to put out for next week benching AWB, Ings and shaw. That is what I would do.

If Pep opts for a similar line up against Shaktar Donetsk as he did v Pool, there is a chance Sane will start V Burnley and Mendy could be saved until Champs League 3 days later. May not happen but worth considering.

I have to get Keepers right next week and plan for Pool and Citeh.
Wolves obvious less expensive way out but have Doherty.
    for -4
Kane to Laca and Hennessy to Ederson/Alisson (I have Robbo and Kun)
    or
Kane Laca and Moura Mane and do Hennessy next week?

I think west ham arent great at the back. No need to get rid of kane just yet. May as well back yourself with the kane transfer and give him one more shot. A 4.5m swap for Hennessey if you must. Ryan or Fabianski my pick of that bracker

But the reality is salah could haul as much or more next day out. It would be different if liverpool were facing a tough few weeks of fixtures. Seems like a sideways move ( i dislike that term) and I dont have the tranfers without taking hits to do anything with the spare cash....

What are everyone’s thoughts on players records vs teams in previous years?

I’m considering firmino and Salah for this run of four games

    - Firmino vs Huddersfield last season: goal in each game

    - Firmino vs arsenal last season: goal in each game

    - Salah vs Huddersfield last season: one goal

    - Salah v arsenal last season: one goal in each game

This is before counting any assists either of the players may have made in these games.

How do you lot read into stuff like this? Do you consider it at all?

I take it seriously when it's more than 4-5 games played against the opponent. Especially for captains pick.

Salah scored against most teams last season. Not so much now.
I guess it depends on the player. Someone like Hazard likes certain teams.
Some players are just confident vs some opponents. Kane vs Hudds is another.

        True

Firmino has scored 5 in his last 5 games vs arsenal - not too shabby. Despite his ill form perhaps he could become an option again

Firmino 5 in 5 vs Swansea was his favourite.

I believe Salah took a penalty in both fixtures vs Huddersfield last season too. Scored 1, Missed 1 lol.

All pretty even. Got rid of Zaha recently, Moura has dried up and Trippier may struggle for points compared to Mendy.
      One for next week.

Mitro as he has Cardiff next and Spurs fixture is good enough to keep them for 1 more game I think.

I’d go with just one, probably Laca because he’s cheaper.

Thanks for this very informative article, makes it much easier to keep tabs on players.

Might be a stupid question but is there a reason why Wilson is not involved in internationals?

Which country does Wilson play for?

Thinking of bringing him in early before price rises since he's not involved.

How’s this draft WC squad? Salah Wilson could be Mané Vardy?

    Fabianski Button
    TAA Doherty Alonso Mendy Robertson
    Hazard Salah Richarlison Knockaert Obiang
    Aguero Mitrovic Wilson
