This latest members’ article looks at the performances of the top-flight clubs this season from an underlying statistics point of view.

The aim is to pinpoint which areas all of the Premier League teams are strong in, as well as highlighting any weaknesses that the key performance indicators might betray.

Each statistic is ranked in relation to the other Premier League sides, with 1st being the best and 20th the worst. For example, Manchester City are marked as 1st for expected goals conceded (xGC) as this is the lowest figure in the whole of the division.

We have also calculated the 20 clubs’ average FPL fixture difficulties (where 2.00 is the easiest fixture and 5.00 is the toughest, according to the ratings given in the game itself) from Gameweeks 1-8 in order to give some context – and mitigation where needed – as to the rankings.

So i did that terrible Kun > Kane for a hit last week. Now i cant decide what to do the upcoming GW. What do you think.

    A) Kane > Kun
    B) Kane, PVA > Kun, Robbo
    C) Trippier > Robbo
    D) Save

Honestly with this week's fixtures I think you should save. WHU is an okay fixture for Spurs assets and would give you way more options next GW.

How about Salah to Mane, then upgrade your bench fodder to bench bargains that can actually get you points in dudd gameweeks?

Especially considering it's WC - you may be in trouble once the fixtures come thick and fast in December and I doubt you'd want to take hits down the line to upgrade your bench - I wouldnt be playing any of that bench on current form so one injury/suspension and you're effectively down to 10 men.

Which transfer is deemed more important for this GW (I already have Robertson and no City) :

    A) Sterling
    B)TAA

Considering the next two fixtures in tandem, TAA could have near guaranteed clean sheets against HUDD and CAR whilst Sterling has BUR,but then a tricky fixture against TOT.

I'm leaning towards TAA for this week, then roll a transfer in spurs week for sterling and then possible use two free transfers the SOT week and bring in Sterling and KDB in for Ralls and Fraser (already have Wilson and fixtures turn for BOU)

    Would appreciate your thoughts, TIA

Is anyone else slightly concerned with their FPL obsession?
    - I find myself going to the team in my head whilst in queues and on the bus making calculations on who to get in to kill some time.
    - when I see a players name somewhere I believe it could be a sign and maybe I should bring that player in? Whether it’s Maddison’s hotel, Kings fish and chips or the other day at work someone asked me over email for an awb! (Air way bill I believe)
    - I find that going through my team in my head helps me prolong during 😉 haha

    Can anyone relate?

Which team would you prefer? The Non-WC team (-4) or the WC team?

    A (Non-Wild Card team i can get for -4 by doing stephens/kane >> hazard/jimenez)
    Patricio • Foster
    Alonso • Robbo • Shaw • Doherty • Awb
    Salah • Hazard • Maddison • Richarlison • Camarassa
    Kun • King • Jimenez

B (potential WC team from gw10 if i keep kane for one more week and then wc in gw10 to bring in hazard as planned)
    Ryan • Fabianki
    Alonso • TAA • Mendy • Doherty • Bennett
    Salah • Hazard • Maddison • Knockart • Hojberg
    Firmino • Arnie • Mitro

If i dont WC in gw10, the only other time to use it will be in gw15 when spurs fixtures improve for the better. There arent any other major fixture swings and i can easily get spurs cover with 2FT's come gw15 so might as well set my team up in gw10 for the long run.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn't really wildcard that team - the midfield is nearly identical (I'd actually prefer Richarlison over Knockaert and downgrade elsewhere). You still have Alonso, Liverpool def, and Doherty.

There's also nothing in the forward lines points wise - Kun might even score as much as Firmino and Mitro combined!

Alonso seems to have been dialled back offensively by Sarri. Will he get as many attacking returns now? Chelsea had quite a soft fixture schedule (save for Liverpool) in the first 8 GWs.

Of their next 8 PL fixtures, only Palace, Everton and Fulham at home look easy. In that time they play MUN bur tot wol MCI

I'd argue MUN, bur, wolv aren't exactly hard for cleansheets.

Fine, MCI and tot aren't the best but not unsalvageable.

I agree, Chelsea could certainly keep a CS in those you mentioned.

That said, Alonso is expensive and if there were more mids firing or high priced forwards I really wanted I would consider selling him. As it is, I can't really see where I would better spend the funds so I'll be holding Alonso

    2. Pinturicchio10
      7 years, 9 months ago

You know you're over-thinking things when a defender going 4 games without an attacking return is worrying. With 1 goal and 5 assists already, and a couple of unlucky goals against away from 4 clean sheets on the spin, there's no reason sell whatsoever. Look at gwks 9-12, 14-15, 17-22.......... sell? No effing chance.

I’m dropping Alonso, , brought him in at the wrong time and I’m not convinced about the clean sheet prospects.

How does this looks for a wc...Not pressed the button yet but thinking about it! Thinking WC as I have a few issues in my team (Shaw/ Stephens/ Peltier/ Fraser)

    Fabianski/ Patricio
    TAA Mendy Alonso Doherty Balbuena
    Hazard Salah Richarlison Seri Billing
    Aguero Wilson Jimenez,

Cash in the bank to do Wilson > Arnautovic in GW 10/11 as his fixtures look pretty decent from there.

Well Shaw and Fraser not really issues if you have cover.

i think one of the most important bits of fpl advice you'll ever get is not to think about this kind of thing. It doesn't matter if you already have players from a given side. Just choose the players that you expect to get the most points. At present, Patricio and Doherty both look fantastic value, so definitely wouldn't worry about that. I haven't really looked into Fab and Diop, they don't look terrible straight off, but also don't look great.

Thinking of moving Alonso for Robertson for minus 4. I think it will pay off in the next 7-8. Plus need the cash to upgrade my 3rd striker. Could work?

Oct 06: "Christian has no chronic injuries - nobody has said that. He just has an injury related to some fatigue and, for that reason, he is having some rest."

Potential return date is given as the 20th but we don't know if that'll happen.

        'Nobody has said that' 😀

        Age Hareide:

"Christian has an issue with an abdominal muscle, and Tottenham have tried to say it's a long-term problem," Hareide told Denmark's Canal 9. "It's doubtful that we can bring him to Dublin and get him to play. I don't think Tottenham are very interested in that.

"It's been long-term since he missed the game against Barcelona and [was] out again against Cardiff. It's been over a week and I know he's known about this problem for a while. Such an injury can become chronic, and I think that's what Tottenham are fearing as well.

"Hopefully that won't happen with Christian. We have two important games in November as well. We will take a look at him, but I don't think we will see Christian in Dublin."

He is very unlikely to play next GW. Don't know about fatique but he has an abdominal injury and read some dutch news spurs think it'll be hard to make it in time for CL game vs PSV (24th) So w-h is very unlikely.

What do you mean by flanks?

    2 defensive mids in a 4231?
Or flanks are there in all formations?

Think I’m settled on my wildcard team, I’ve spent quite a while toying with Arnie, but think he can wait until Mitros fixtures turn in 3 weeks.

    Fab, Pat,
    Doherty, Robbo, TAA, Duffy, AWB/Bennett
    Salah, Haz, Rich, Schurrle,
    Aguero, Vardy, Mitro.

Double Fulham just for the fixtures, switching over after a few weeks.

laca and wilson , vardy mitro all good prospects at the mo , really hard to say who will do better so too sideways imo

Nope, toyed with Laca but couldn’t get him in during the great fixtures, so that time has passed for me.

Same for Wilson, had King and not interested in B’Mouth attack despite their nice next fixtures.

Vardy is all but locked in. Great fixtures, guaranteed game time, on pens, and always scores against Arsenal.

Yeh that is exactly the issue I’m having. Good fixtures to cover, but GW11 is a dud, unless I think Liverpool can keep arsenal out.

By then I may have 2 free transfers so may use one on a defender as a one week, or look to bring a defender in specifically with 11 in mind now.

I watched the most recent you tube video, 'Meet the manager' and I was left thinking 'Does this guy care about team value?'

He said he's very very patient with players but that surly damages team value.

How important do the top managers take this?

    1. asquishypotato
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Case by case, no real right answer. Only thing is if you are doing well your value will go up regardless, so top managers tend not to worry about it as much.

    2. MTPockets
      7 years, 9 months ago

Can't speak for them, but less relevant when referring to cheap bench picks.

I find it very frustrating that I seem to do everything the other top managers do, I plan ahead, give careful thought to transfers and I'm very methodical. But my current rank is 1.6m!!

I used to always focus on TV but I’ve realised it’s not as essential as you may think to make early transfers. As long as you are getting the right players your TV should look after itself. I’ve been making transfers late in the week, each GW this season and my value is still respectable IMO - TV 103.2 (SV 101.6).
