Sam Vokes and David Brooks are the headline act in our latest Scout Notes article.

The pair were involved in Wales’ solitary goal against Spain in a 4-1 thrashing, but that comes off the back of recent form in Fantasy Premier League.

Their match was one of four international friendlies played on Thursday.

Turkey 0-0 Bosnia and Herzegovina

Caglar Söyüncü (£5.0m) – 90 minutes
Cenk Tosun (£6.7m) – 45 minutes

Asmir Begovic (£4.5m) – 45 minutes

Caglar Söyüncü may be without a single Premier League minute since joining Leicester City in the summer, but he continues to prove his worth to the Turkey national team. The centre-back played 90 minutes in this 0-0 draw with Bosnia. With Wes Morgan (£4.5m) suspended for the next two matches, Söyüncü and Jonny Evans (£4.9m) are the potential replacements.

Cenk Tosun featured only as a second-half substitute for Turkey, while Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic also came on at the interval for Bosnia.

Iraq 0-4 Argentina

Sergio Romero (£5.0m) – 90 minutes
Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) – 45 minutes

An Argentina side still without Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) were comfortable winners over Iraq.

The impact on FPL was also minimal with Manchester United’s reserve goalkeeper Sergio Romero playing the whole match, and Roberto Pereyra getting 45 minutes in the second-half.

However, the Watford did end his goal-drought, which stretches back to Gameweek 3, with his 53rd-minute strike.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Otamendi (£6.1m) was absent from the matchday squad despite being included in the latest selection. There does not appear to be any sort of injury. He could well be involved when Argentina face Brazil in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Wales 1-4 Spain

Wayne Hennessey (£4.6m) – 90 minutes
Ben Davies (£5.6m) – 62 minutes
Ethan Ampadu (£4.4m) – 50 minutes
Sam Vokes (£5.3m) – 90 minutes
Aaron Ramsey (£7.4m) – 90 minutes
David Brooks (£5.0m) – 45 minutes
Andy King – 40 minutes

David De Gea (£5.9m) – 45 minutes
Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.4m) – 63 minutes
Álvaro Morata (£8.7m) – 90 minutes
Kepa Arrizbalaga (£5.5m) – 45 minutes
Jonny Castro (£4.5m) – 27 minutes

Sam Vokes will be hoping his latest international goal will see him continue his run of four consecutive league starts for Burnley. However, it did come at the end of Wales’ mauling at the hands of Spain.

Bournemouth’s David Brooks, with back-to-back league goals for the first time in his career after Gameweek 8, provided the assist in a 45-minute appearance.

Tottenham’s Ben Davies was used as a centre-back in a three-man defence that was torn apart by the Spanish.

Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu was forced off in the 50th minute having fallen awkwardly under a tackle. He is already considered to be a doubt for Tuesday’s meeting with the Republic of Ireland.

“Ethan (Ampadu) just extended his knee a little bit in the second half, and we will assess it and see how it is.” – Ryan Giggs

There was less of a Premier League presence in the Spain side. Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeepers David de Gea and Kepa Arrizabalaga rotated between the sticks at half-time while Álvaro Morata managed a 90-minute appearance with no direct involvement in any of the goals scored.

Cesar Azpilicueta was replaced in the 63rd minute by Wolves man Jonny, who made his first international appearance in the process. Marcos Alonso (£6.9m) unused substitute.

France 2-2 Iceland

Hugo Lloris (£5.4m) – 90 minutes
Lucas Digne (£4.8m) – 90 minutes
Paul Pogba (£8.1m) – 67 minutes
Olivier Giroud (£7.8m) – 90 minutes
Kurt Zouma (£5.0m) – 45 minutes

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£6.0m) – 71 minutes
Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) – 80 minutes

It was a nervy night for France who had to rely on a late show of class from substitute Kylian Mbappé to avoid defeat to Iceland.

Hugo Lloris conceded twice in the first hour, Kari Arnason heading home a Gylfi Sigurdsson corner for the second goal. Everton man Lucas Digne played the whole match at left-back, with colleague Kurt Zouma coming on at half-time.

Paul Pogba came off in the 67th minute while Olivier Giroud lasted the whole match up front. Mamadou Sakho and N’Golo Kante remained on the bench.

Can people advise on what they would do and why, it's either save or Trippier to Robbo?

    Foster (Hart)
    Laporte Alonso Trippier Doherty (WBA)
    Hazard Richarlison Fraser (Maddison, Billing)
    Kane Aguero Mitrovic

      I’m doing Trippier to Robbo.

Risky to go without attacking Liverpool options.

Very tough, probably Trippier > Robbo if it stays like this but I would defo wait a week in case your decision is made easier by some injury news.

I would be looking at Trip/Laporte to Rob/Mendy myself. It might take a couple of weeks or so to pull off.

Thinking of using WC on current squad:

    Ederson Hennessy
    Alonso Doherty TAA Shaw Kelly
    Salah Hazard Kante Neves Stephens
    Zaha Kane Arnie

    A

    Ederson Button
    Alonso TAA Bennett Doherty Robertson
    Salah Hazard Richarlison Hojbjerg Westwood
    Aguero Arnie Wilson

    B

    Ederson Button
    Alonso TAA Mendy Doherty Robertson
Mane Hazard Richarlison Knockaert 4.3 Mid
    Aguero Arnie Wilson

    1. Use WC or stick?
    2. A or B for WC?
    3. Any other changes, suggestions, advice?

    1. Demel

I would wildcard. The midfield is a mess and other problems as well. Option B is more balanced longer term.

    2. MTPockets
        7 years, 5 months ago

Looks like wildcarding for Aguero + Richarlison + Robertson.
Assuming you have 1ft could get 2 of those for just a hit.

Why Alonso over Mendy in A? His output has dropped off. You could maybe even upgrade Hojbjerg or Westwood depending on when you bought Alonso.

Alonso is nailed on and I'm just weary of Mendy being rotated. Have had Alonso since GW1 though so tempting to make that change!

I need to free up 0.3m with the below WC team - Ideas how to do it...

      Patricio / Hamer
TAA Doherty Duffy / Wan-Biss Bennett
Hazard Salah Sterling Richarlison / Mendy
      Aguero Mitro Wilson

      A) Mitro > Murray
      B) Wilson > Jiminez (Would mean Patricio > Fabianski)
      C) Richarlison > Fraser (Actually leaves me 0.6 to play with and could fund Wilson > Arny in GW 10)

Or any other ideas welcome. Thanks

Yes, it's the one i'm leaning towards the most at the moment if needed.

It's a risk going a bit lighter at the back but it feel like it's the right time to drain the funds from that position and get on the next wave with players like Sterling. Easy to swap back in 2 moves if needed later. Hoping Duffy is a nice punt with their fixture swing.

Looks like Stephens will drop to 4.3 before next deadline and speroni will drop to 3.9.
        So
        Hamer > speroni
        Mendy > stephens

No chance, when a flag is removed, transfers only start counting towards a rise/fall from that point. Mendy would need huge buying to rise, so it won't be for a while.

I'm pretty sure it was GW5, at this point he wasn't injured yet. Maybe I'm wrong though as he wasn't even on the bench but he certainly wasn't flagged as injured on fpl until before GW6

That was the game where Pep said something like 'injury could be days or weeks' afterwards. He could have been lying all this time to make a point to Mendy, but assuming he wasn't was injured rather than rotated.

Mendy worth the risk if you have good back up for possible rotation. Robertson/Mendy/Alonso with Jonny and Wan B as back for me.

i can see why you'd have jonny as back up, though i would go for Bennett as back up. I don't get why you'd have Wan B though. I know he's cheap but i doubt he'll get any clean sheets in the next 10 games. Plus you get more points for a 6m defender than from a 6m midfielder/striker, so i rather go 4 top defenders and just one cheap rotation defender than 2

Had Wan B since GW1 and happy for him to be third on bench during the tough run ahead. Had the funds to buy Jonny rather than Bennett as if there is rotation and he comes in, I like the possibility of attacking returns as well as his clean sheet potential.

Just taken my first hit of the season to get this lot (Pogba & Shaw > Mané and Duffy) -

                Begovic - (Boruc)
                Duffy - Alonso - Robertson - (Wan B - Jazzyboy)
                Hazard - Mané - Fraser - Moura - (Stephens)
                Aguero - Lacazette - Arnautovic

                Looking ok?

Thoughts on John Stones people? Is he being overlooked or too much of a rotation risk?

Also currently on WC and ran into a similar issue. Since I already sold Salah for Hazard and kept Mane, the team overall is much more healthy. While Salah could punish, I just recognize that this is my only WC for this half of the season, so a dead bench will kill me in December. I'm hoping the extra cash will even out what I might lose from not having Salah.

Would appreciate some perspective on potential transfers. Current team:

                    Fahianski
                    Alonso Robertson Doherty Pva
                    Salah hazard Maddison Richarlison
                    Aguero mitrovic

                    Hamer awb Stephens kamara.

£1.6 itb. I'm thinking about Pva-> Mendy and carrying on with 442 formation.

                    I could upgrade 5th midfield slot to a 6.0 midfielder or 3rd striker to a 6.0 striker.

Is Stephens -> schurlle madness? He shoots for fun and has 3 goals already with a good run of fixtures ahead? I'm really tempted but not sure if this is a stupid mistake that I'm taking myself into?

Is Jimenez a good shout or have I missed the boat a bit with him?

Any feedback would be appreciated as I have done research and not been lazy but haven't watched Fulham play tbh so not sure if schurlle is passing eye test? Same as Jiminez.

I would turn PVA into a NEW or BHA defender who can be rotated with Doherty for WOL tough upcoming fixtures. And bring in Arnautovic for Kamara.

That's my team, difference being Ederson, Bennett and Moura in place of Fab, PvA and Maddison. I'm guessing you're around 40k overall rank?

Bringing in Mendy for PVA and continue on 4-4-2 strikes me as the most sensible solution.

                    Morning guys

I am definitely not going to captain Kane in the next few weeks. I am planning on using the funds to buy Mane and Wilson/King and will not captain them either. However, surely those two will outscore Kane (as he is not a captaincy option for me?)

                    Any views appreciated

For me I think that makes good sense. Bournemouths fixtures turn after next 2 games but they are Saints and Fulham so surely there are a couple of goals in there for Wilson/king. There is a good chance one of them could either keep pace with or even outscore Kane on their own. Factor in mane with a great set of fixtures then i would firmly expect these 2 to well outscore Kane and Westwood.

                          Hope that helps

I would expect so. Kane is too expensive, will miss passes from Eriksen and possibly Allli. Replacements will outscore Kane un short run , if they continue current form.

Looking at fixtures ahead it looks like Bournemouths are turning and West Ham's are improving. Wolves aren't terrible but certainly not great over next 6-7 weeks. For me I would do A. This also depends on your team structure though? Are you wanting to upgrade Westwood or is he bench fodder?

                    B) Maddison (ars)

Not if Maddison stays on the left and Iheanacho central. Looked rubbish last game and I was primed to get him in for Pedro.

I think Richarlison is by far the better pick as I don't like Puel's management and I think Marco Silva is more all out attack

50/50 atm I'd say. Personally I slightly favor Maddison as he'll have good fixtures every week, while Richarlison has tougher away games.

Richarlson greater goal threat and playing up top plus cheaper...

                        That's 4-3-3?

Would pick one of the keepers not both.

The rest I quite like although really uneviable bench headache.

Very flexible I suppose, base it on fixtures

Looks strong 433/532 options - decent bench.

Tbh can't really find a fault.

Not sure when to WC but wanted to get an idea what people’s ideal WC team be if they were Wildcarding now. My Selljng value is only 100.5 which is much lower then most so assuming 101 is about par, what your imaginary wildcard team?

                          If I were WC'ing now

                          Patricio Hamer
                          Mendy Robertson TAA Doherty AWB

                          Aguero Mitrovic Wilson

                          That's what I'd go.
