Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) is now without an attacking return in Fantasy Premier League since Gameweek 4.

Despite proving a hugely popular figure, there has been a drop off in his offensive potential in recent weeks.

In this members’ piece, we’ve taken a look at whether or not his owners should be worried about his place in their squads.

    Wrong place..

Fraser and Wilson for two weeks then for free Neves/Hughes/5.5m and Arnie/Mitro seem ok for a WC?

      I wouldn't touch Neves

Knockaert Hughes Kenedy are who I would look at

Mitro over Arnie for next 3 games

On WC as well and planning may have both of them. Keeping some money in the bank for Wilson -> Arnie in GW11. I can't say I like any of the options in Fraser's price bracket though.

Sounds good in theory but 2 weeks ( 3 really) is a long time in FPL, good chance you’ll want to make some other kind of change before that double swap.

what is your take on the Mendy and Sane situation..? Rotation between those two in matches to come?..how to solve Sterling,Sane, Mahrez and Mendy puzzle?

Sane and Mendy will share minutes alot, not really sure where Mahrez fits in and Sterling's minutes have been pretty assured up to now.

Stay away from Sane and Mahrez
Sterling is quite sure starter like last year. Mendy seems to play when fit but wouldn’t be surprisedto see Sane starting over Mendy when they have 3 games a week

Mendy is defender. Why he should be rotated by mid/strikers. Sane/Mahrez/Sterling will definitely rotated

Mendy and Sane both play LWB basically , they won't play together, they will share minutes on the left

This is one of those observations that are taken too far.

Sané will play when Mendy isn't playing, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to start any games together. Mendy's injury last season occurred in a game where he was starting alongside Sané.

60 points in the first 8 gameweeks is enough to justify it.

TAA and Mendy rotation risks, though. Maybe not sucj an issue with TAA at 5.1m, but dishing out 6.3 for Mendy one would like to be a bit more confident of his minutes

Thoughts on WC team? 0.1 ITB:

    Fabianski, Button

Yeah mix it up maybe. So lots of groups of 4 teams made up of eg Spain, Guinea, Venezuela and Fiji. First progresses automatically and second goes into a play off maybe. Logistically won't be easy to accommodate all these nations but needs mixing up imo.

Referring to an earlier post of mine.

    Team is

    Patricio

    Mendy/Doherty/Alonso(PVA/AWB)

    Haz/Son/Maddison/Richarlson

    Kun/Mitrovic /Wilson

    2fts 3.6m itb

    1st ft

    Son ➡️ Salah

PVA ➡️ TAA leave me 0.6 short....

So how do u get pool defence in without a hit or losing Mendy or Alonso??

Mate, tried to tell you on last post last page, TAA is cheaper than PVA so you would not be .6 short as PVA is 5.5 and TAA is 5.2. You can not be short in this situation as the player coming in is cheaper than the player you are getting rid of. You might be confusing the price somehow.

I was confused at first too, but ive finally cracked the code.

He cant actually afford to do Son > Salah with only 3.6m ITB.
He needs to find the extra cash somewhere and PVA > TAA doesnt generate enough

ohhh I see, thanks mate, I was so confused. Would have helped if he replied back, was only trying to help him. I did not see the ITB part, I thought he was able to get Salah in with 1ft from the way he explained it, so was struggling to work out how he could not afford a player that was cheaper with his other FT.

should note that Alonso had a long ordinary spell (about 12 GWs) after a bright start last season before refinding his scoring form.People were getting similar pts from Christensen until that Xmas debacle (which i think was when Alonso refound his form)

It's about the biggest points makers in each position, although I absolutely understand the sentiment. The only reason i really considered Mané in this situation, looking at it critically, is for coverage for those two epic fixtures.

re. the previous post. Yes, it's the last 3 games only. You can ignore HUD and CAR being tighter of late than people are giving them credit for and SOT and BUR being a bit of a disaster away from home if you please. Always looking for edges and I think having teams who have conceded twice as many of late and an additional home fixture gives MCI an edge here

Fair enough, still don't think it's significant enough to be that much of an edge when it's just the last 3 games

Agree it is absolutely no guarantee of anything. But there's an enormous movement towards Liverpool players and we have a ready made player already performing week in week out in sterling. That makes Salah/Mane the gamble for me, given MCI comparible fixtures

😀 lighten up 🙂 you said yourself that Spurs would struggle to score last week because of CL hangover, but now it's because Cardiff have an improved defence!? Just looking at who did/didn't let goals in in the last few games is a bit simplistic imo.

                  Ok!

I'm not just looking at that. There's a huge list of pros and cons. I just think that people have overlooked that MCI may have equally or more favourible fixtures across three games. No need to leap on a questionable Liverpool right now. Can just watch it unfold and in the event they outscore the form MCI players can act on it then

Is Mendy a sure starter when fit..? First 4 GWs when he played all of them when Sane was out of form..but now when Sane is in quite the form,,how do you see this puzzle going to solve in the future GWs..?

Don’t think Pep will start both same time. For now i see Mendy starting and Sane sitting bench. Mendy was Peps favourite at the start of the season.. its Pep so who knows? Maybe Pep..? Maybe not even Pep...

It precisely for this reason why mendy puts me off. Pep doesn't seem to like the idea of having them both in the same lineup. I think when one plays the other will be benched which isn't ideal when you own mendy

Just remember, when Mendy has been fit, he has started every match! That does not seem to be rotation?
People just trying (like myself) to quess how much rotation there will be. I have Sterling and Aguero. Definetly looking possibility to bring Mendy in. Had him for firts four gw

Having Mendy means Pep doesnt need a left winger at all on the pitch. Playing Delph means someone else is needed for width. Basically Mendy allows Pep to have a single player do the job of 2 players. Hes nailed on for that simple reason. Sane can play with Mendy on the pitch but he is more at risk than when Mendy is out.

Good point actually, Pool defence needed over the coming weeks, think i must have read Doherty as Robbo in my mind. Tripp to Robbo would be best, but best to check his situation first as someone saying he limped off today, probably nothing though.

I would not worry too much about TAA game time, it could just be top 6 sides he dropped for. I would be surprised if he suddenly dropped him as he has been playing well. But Robbo the better choice, so yeah if that gets you Robbo and is free I would do it (if all is well with him).

I would do it, but leave it as long as you can to find out the situation with Robbo (as i say most likely nothing, just comments i have seen). For long term is good move, he should get plenty of assists and clean sheets. .

I have robbo, however both Scotland games look like they took a toll. He was made Capt and I thought he played awful, in particular today where he was made to look very ordinary. Yeah Scotland weren't great from what I saw in first half, but he hasn't got the same level of player around him at Scotland. I think he will play unless injured. He the best option for Pool in that position, and that was Scotland's last game, so plenty of rest. I own him too, so am hoping I am right.

you can try to get Mendy for Duffy, but that would probably mean losing Dilva, so not sure about that

Hamer to Speroni if he drops.

Or Billing to Stephens if he drops.

      Aka...penny pinching.

Thoughts on this as a WC team:

    Ryan, Fab
    Tripp, Mendy, Luiz, Robbo, AWB
    Mane, Haz, Richarlison, Maddison, McTominay
    Aguero, King, Mitro

    Bank: 0.4m
(King > Arnie in 2 weeks)

    On a WC

    Pat / Stek
    Alonso / Robbo / Mendy / Trippier / AWB
    Hazard / Mane / Maddison / Richarlison / Brooks
    Mitro / King / Aguero

    0.1 ITB. Any changes?

Surely price is also pretty key

Hazard is a no brainer. The other slot depends on the Salah injury news

After some tinkering I think im finally happy with my team. Any opinions from you guys?

    0.1m ITB

    Ryan, Hennessey
    Robertson, TAA, Alonso, Bennett, AWB
    Hazard, Mane, Richy, Maddi, Billing
    Aguero, Laca, Arnie

Think ive got a good spread of funds giving me plenty of flexibility for fixtures

I'd have one gk to avoid benching headaches. I'd use that money to get Kenedy for Billing

Not on a WC, this would be my team after a -4.

Tbh ill definitely be playing Ryan for the next 5 gameweeks, and if Brighton defence looks like its improving I will probably just do Hen > Button for when Ryan leaves for the Asian Cup at the start of 2019

Apologies, I somehow thought it was a WC draft. I'd do it any way (with free transfers though) seeing as the rest of your team is solid

    Best transfer/s?

    a) Trippier > Mendy/Robertson

    b) Kane > Lacazette

    c) Fraser + Kane > Salah + Ings (No Hit)
