We have begun our update of the Watchlist ready for Gameweek 9.

Up first is the goalkeepers after we ran the rule over the best Fantasy Premier League options between the sticks.

Read ahead to find out how we’ve ranked each asset.

Alisson (£5.6m) remains top of the Watchlist for goalkeepers but has consolidated his position there. The Liverpool man’s latest clean sheet brings his form back to A, with only three shot-stoppers ranking higher than him in that department on the official FPL website. Alisson also gets the Favourable Fixtures back with Huddersfield (away), Cardiff (home), Arsenal (away) and Fulham (home) his next four matches.

Ederson‘s (£5.7m) factors remain the same, A for form and no fixture aspect, so he stays in second place. Two home fixtures against Burnley and Southampton appear to have excellent clean sheet potential but they sit next to a trip to Spurs and the visit of Manchester United.

Another shutout and bonus-haul for Rui Patricio (£4.6m) in Gameweek 8 justified our decision to put him third on the Watchlist several weeks ago. The Wolves man obviously retains his A for form, has appealing fixtures and is still a bargain at £4.6 so he stays where he is.

Kepa (£5.5m) comes back onto the goalkeeper Watchlist in fourth place following the recent drop in Marcos Alonso‘s (£7.0m) attacking numbers. We had taken the decision to remove the Chelsea shot-stopper because Alonso was offering potential at both ends of the pitch, and when we weren’t so sure about Chelsea keeping clean sheets, we did not want to hugely encourage a defensive double-up. However, if Alonso is regressing offensively, and Maurizio Sarri’s men are looking solid at the back, then Kepa deserves to be an option once again as he can offer the same level of defensive potential for a much cheaper price.

Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) rises up the rankings a little as Leicester’s fixtures look very promising after Gameweek 9. Furthermore, they have ranked very favourably for shots conceded, efforts on target allowed and big chances conceded over the last four Gameweeks, all of which can be seen in the Members’ Area.

Bernd Leno (£4.8m) retains the Favourable Fixtures for a little longer which is why he is still sixth in the list. Once a home match with Leicester and a trip to Crystal Palace are out of the way, Arsenal face tough matches against Liverpool, Spurs and Man United between Gameweek 11 and 15.

Likely to overtake the German very soon, and hot on his tails, is Brighton shot-stopper Mat Ryan (£4.5m). His first clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 8, plus some bonus too, was timed well with the Seagulls’ fixture swing and has seen his form rise from C to B. Between now and Gameweek 21 on our Season Ticker, they rank second for defence.

Ben Foster (£4.5m) returns to the Watchlist now that Watford’s fixtures have perked back up again. The schedule is favourable for the Hornets with Huddersfield, Newcastle and Southampton three of their next four opponents. Foster comes in with a C for form with no clean sheet since Gameweek 1, however.

Just below him is Newcastle’s custodian Martin Dubravka (£5.0m). The Magpies may have allowed a considerable number of shots over the past four Gameweeks but the quality of their fixtures cannot be overlooked. Brighton (home), Southampton (away) and Watford (home) are their next three opponents.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) gets onto the list for his ability to cover Rui Patricio’s tougher fixtures in Gamweeks 11 and 12. That’s when Wolves face Spurs and Arsenal while West Ham play Burnley and Huddersfield.

Not surprisingly, Wayne Hennessey (£4.6m) has now dropped off the Watchlist. Crystal Palace’s awful quadruple-hit of tough fixtures is now just one week away. Between Gameweeks 10 and 13, the Eagles must run the gauntlet of Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Spurs (home) and Man United (away).

Joe Hart (£4.6m) has also been pushed off the Watchlist after failing to keep it Cardiff or Huddersfield. Furthermore, it’s Man City (away) and Chelsea (home) up next for the Clarets.

Just got enough ITB for Mane to Sterling -4 (already done Holebas to Mendy).

    Yay or Nay ?

It's VERY tempting — as I was already planning for this move — but the performance from him + Mane's broken thumb make it more so. Sterling feels like Kane before his brace a few weeks ago (Assuming he plays after two Internationals ahead of CL game that is...)

Long term plan is to get in KDB. Perhaps I should just wait and see on Mane. And in a few more weeks get KDB. All feels like a red herring.

Yeah, that's the pragmatic approach. I can field a sterling rise / mane fall (have .2m difference) if it were to happen. Ta.

Nope. Have Hazard, Lacazette and Aguero who I want to keep (+ Maddison/Mitro/Rich).

Mane does not play cricket. Cannot see a thumb having an affect on his football.

How do you know? He might be a classy opener?

But you're right - you'd think a thumb injury, unless it was a severe compound fracture, wouldn't keep him out. Will sit on this.

    Bottomed,
Looks like so far i've dodged injuries in my squad, opinions on transfers? WC probably next week, Firmino was one to transfer out but looks like he is the safer option in Liverpool attack at the moment.

    Hennessey
    Alonso TAA Doherty
    Sterling Sane Richarlison Maddison
    Kane (C) Firmino Mitrovic

    4.0 Kenedy WB Peltier

    A) Kane to Aguero (C)
    B) Sane to Mane
    C) Save
    D) WC (get Mendy, Hazard, gk)

Mendy & Salah’s respective ownerships have declined quite significantly from their peaks.

It’s interesting that we are approaching a plum set of fixtures for both, with both as relative differentials compared to a few weeks back, injuries and doubts not withstanding.

This is going to be a massive couple of weeks for OR’s One way or the other I feel.

Agree. I’ve never sold any of them and feel now is the time they reward the owners.

It's one way of looking at it. It's also an awful lot of money not to be playing.

Mendy benched all this time would have seen your team value plummet and the chance to capitalise on rising stars in his place - not to mention the PP£ for the rest of the team.

This season I think my SV could reach 105m. Enough to buy a spare man. Or to put it another way. An extra big hitter.

I would have thought those that held Mendy had him for 6.0 and are stilling on a profit in him

I have held Salah & Mendy and my TV is quite healthy I think at 103.3 ?

If he does haul, you could either add 4 points to his score for the hits non owners take to get him in, or take the differential captaincy points v Cardiff & Fulham in 2 of the following 3 weeks... hopefully

Would almost take a quiet week against Huddersfield (maybe just an assist and a clean sheet) for him to be even more of a differential against Cardiff.

    2FT. Choose two please.

    a) Pva >Duffy
    b) Pva > Balbuena/Zab
    c) Pva > Yedlin

    1) Ings > with mitro (arnie in GW11)

    For anyone benching Maddison -

In the last 6 gameweeks (since Arsenal's fixtures turned, basically), they have been:

3rd worst for attempts conceded from set-pieces (24).

Joint top for errors (5), only 1 of which was punished by a goal.

And if Maddison plays off the left as he has recently, Arsenal are 4th worst for chances conceded from the left (25).

    Just food for thought.

      Nice stats.

      Somehow they have conceded just

      .9 goals/game across 8 games

Is be inclined to go with momentum over underlying stats on this occasion

Yeah fair enough - just looked at the stats to verify what I've seen on the eye test.

Watched the Everton game and have no idea how they avoided conceding - Ev wasted so many good situations. Only saw Watford highlights but again, lord knows how they didn't score.

        Sokratis injured as well apparently...

              Salah Hazard Richarlison Fraser
              Aguero (c) Ings

              Hamer Maddison AWB Kamara

Could just play safe and bench Ings for Maddison cause of his higher ownership but I do like Ings as a player and a differential

agreed. nearly every time they lose the ball in midfield they concede a chance. maybe texeira torreira will improve things for them but they were pretty lucky not to concede more, especially against Everton and WHU.

        • 7 Years

Torreira looks good, and will help a lot. But yeah I agree they've been a bit fortunate not to have a few more goals against. Seem to give the ball away in their own third fairly often, and their defenders stand in very strange positions - one always seems to drop further back than the other 4, meaning offside traps are blown.

Brilliant going forward though - very happy Laca owner!

Draft league, just read that J Milner "could be ready" vs HUD. Which one to start? Vietto seems the obvious choice but the rest are mids so an extra point for cs could be handy.

People who own Salah or had firm plans to get him in will obviously be hoping for positive news. The more pessimistic view of this though is that Salah was struggling already and this latest injury seems unlikely to boost his fitness or mentality. It's another warning sign on top of the existing ones

We all hope this. The issue we have is (as annoying as it is) these managers aren't giving the update in an FPL context and so don't see the vital importance of knowing the certainty of a player starting a match before 11:30 ;-).

Therefore it is reasonable to assume we get something like "Mo trained with the team and looked great. Things are looking positive." Which is not trolling like Pep ("We will see") but doesn't help us!

Exactly! As I think I commented yesterday on another post, Klopp cares and so could be justified to either rest Salah to make sure he doesn’t totally screw himself up for “bigger” matches, or to play him to give him an ego boost and hope he hits scoring form

Only [3] PL players have missed game(s) with thumb related injuries since 2012, broken or otherwise.

All goalkeepers - Myhill, McGregor and Foster.

Expect Mane to be OK for Saturday. #LFC

Yes and of the 31 related injuries only two were had by outfield players. That the last three were goalkeepers is therefore no surprise.

We've gone from Milner out for weeks and Mane on pens to Mane out for at least Hudd and Milner back in less than 24 hours. Brutal swing for Mane owners.

                Don't bench fraser.

Jiminez out for Joselu. Use money to upgrade Fraser to Rich in two weeks.

Rotate Joselu in for Doch bad fixtures.

What's with the music on Youtube football videos?! Pick any Youtube 'Goals and Skills" etc. video and you're guaranteed the worst music you have ever heard in your whole life. I don't even know what genre this fits into?? Or where else you can possibly hear such dog sh!t?! It makes me physically sick!!

I believe it's actually called the dogshit genre. The music scene, for the most part, has been depressing since about 1998.

May as well get used to it I'm afraid. Originality and individuality has been shackled for many years. Social engineering pit an end to all that. Least we lived through some good years though right? Some at least.

Most definitely "D". You have a proper team and there's too much uncertainty around Liverpool attacking assets. I believe you'd be happy with MiniWC next round.

I'm suspicious of this next game. Liverpool with minor injuries all over the shop and international minutes. HUD with their very up for two weeks. It's not the consensus because HUD haven't scored at home yet, but I think it's going to be much more challenging than people anticipate.

you may be right about being suspicious

apart from that odd result vs City last year, Huddersfield tend to loose quite heavily vs the top 5 teams and Liverpool being what they are defensively, there is better arguments for saying Liverpool will keep a cs than not, so i wouldn´t be bothered with speculation based on maybe´s and whatnot. I´m not saying Liverpool will win, but the probability of it could not be questioned, even if you put in Moreno at left back-).

Scout Picks Community Champion Lottery – Gameweek 9

Once again, one champion representing the community will take on the Scout Picks this week with a chance to win a prize at the end of the season!

If you want to take part please email your FFS name and FPL ID number to community@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk by midday on Wednesday.

The champion will be selected at random at 17:00 on Wednesday and then asked to submit their XI by 10:00 on Friday.

This will require 11 picks, fitting into an 83m budget. There is no captain in the picks and the community champion must also stick to a designated FPL formation, and also must not include more than three players from a single team. Again, no chips or captaincy will be applied.

At the end of the season the champion who has beaten the Scout Picks by the highest margin will receive a £100 Amazon voucher.

The weekly champion will be revealed in the midweek Scout Squad article, which will outline the Scout’s initial thinking around the choices. Our picks and the champion’s picks will be revealed, as usual, in the Scout Picks article.

Should the community champion fail to provide an appropriate squad, fitting the budget and formation constraints, an caretaker manager will be appointed to take control of the selection to represent the community for the gameweek in question.

Submit now if you’re interested for Gameweek 9!

                  Good luck
