We have begun our update of the Watchlist ready for Gameweek 9.

Up first is the goalkeepers after we ran the rule over the best Fantasy Premier League options between the sticks.

Read ahead to find out how we’ve ranked each asset.

Alisson (£5.6m) remains top of the Watchlist for goalkeepers but has consolidated his position there. The Liverpool man’s latest clean sheet brings his form back to A, with only three shot-stoppers ranking higher than him in that department on the official FPL website. Alisson also gets the Favourable Fixtures back with Huddersfield (away), Cardiff (home), Arsenal (away) and Fulham (home) his next four matches.

Ederson‘s (£5.7m) factors remain the same, A for form and no fixture aspect, so he stays in second place. Two home fixtures against Burnley and Southampton appear to have excellent clean sheet potential but they sit next to a trip to Spurs and the visit of Manchester United.

Another shutout and bonus-haul for Rui Patricio (£4.6m) in Gameweek 8 justified our decision to put him third on the Watchlist several weeks ago. The Wolves man obviously retains his A for form, has appealing fixtures and is still a bargain at £4.6 so he stays where he is.

Kepa (£5.5m) comes back onto the goalkeeper Watchlist in fourth place following the recent drop in Marcos Alonso‘s (£7.0m) attacking numbers. We had taken the decision to remove the Chelsea shot-stopper because Alonso was offering potential at both ends of the pitch, and when we weren’t so sure about Chelsea keeping clean sheets, we did not want to hugely encourage a defensive double-up. However, if Alonso is regressing offensively, and Maurizio Sarri’s men are looking solid at the back, then Kepa deserves to be an option once again as he can offer the same level of defensive potential for a much cheaper price.

Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) rises up the rankings a little as Leicester’s fixtures look very promising after Gameweek 9. Furthermore, they have ranked very favourably for shots conceded, efforts on target allowed and big chances conceded over the last four Gameweeks, all of which can be seen in the Members’ Area.

Bernd Leno (£4.8m) retains the Favourable Fixtures for a little longer which is why he is still sixth in the list. Once a home match with Leicester and a trip to Crystal Palace are out of the way, Arsenal face tough matches against Liverpool, Spurs and Man United between Gameweek 11 and 15.

Likely to overtake the German very soon, and hot on his tails, is Brighton shot-stopper Mat Ryan (£4.5m). His first clean sheet of the season in Gameweek 8, plus some bonus too, was timed well with the Seagulls’ fixture swing and has seen his form rise from C to B. Between now and Gameweek 21 on our Season Ticker, they rank second for defence.

Ben Foster (£4.5m) returns to the Watchlist now that Watford’s fixtures have perked back up again. The schedule is favourable for the Hornets with Huddersfield, Newcastle and Southampton three of their next four opponents. Foster comes in with a C for form with no clean sheet since Gameweek 1, however.

Just below him is Newcastle’s custodian Martin Dubravka (£5.0m). The Magpies may have allowed a considerable number of shots over the past four Gameweeks but the quality of their fixtures cannot be overlooked. Brighton (home), Southampton (away) and Watford (home) are their next three opponents.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) gets onto the list for his ability to cover Rui Patricio’s tougher fixtures in Gamweeks 11 and 12. That’s when Wolves face Spurs and Arsenal while West Ham play Burnley and Huddersfield.

Not surprisingly, Wayne Hennessey (£4.6m) has now dropped off the Watchlist. Crystal Palace’s awful quadruple-hit of tough fixtures is now just one week away. Between Gameweeks 10 and 13, the Eagles must run the gauntlet of Arsenal (home), Chelsea (away), Spurs (home) and Man United (away).

Joe Hart (£4.6m) has also been pushed off the Watchlist after failing to keep it Cardiff or Huddersfield. Furthermore, it’s Man City (away) and Chelsea (home) up next for the Clarets.

Feel like I found out what I needed in WC

    Fabianski
    Alonso Robertson Doherty
    Hazard Sterling Richa Fraser
    Aguero Lacazette Mitrovic

    Button Bennett AWB Hodjbjerg

Laca + Fraser to Arnie + Maddy after 2 weeks. Sterling to Pool mid when needed.

    Gtg?

    1. Demel
      8 years, 11 days ago

I would definitely have Mendy on a wildcard. Apart from that I would say it is good to go.

I am pretty happy about my keeper and defenders for now.

Hard to fit Mendy in this team. What would you suggest

          More Pool players

          8 years, 11 days ago

True. You would have to downgrade Alonso, Sterling or Laca to fit him in.

Laca will go after 2 games but not getting Mendy as I would be upgrading Fraser to Maddison

      I'd keep Sterling long term

Would like to keep him. But no other way to get Mane/Salah once they show form.

And if I need to select only one city asset it would be Kun for sure

I might have exactly this team, with Pereira instead of Bennett

My plan is exactly like yours
Laca & Fraser to Arnie & Maddison

      1. EMERGING STAR
        8 years, 11 days ago

Great. I am on right direction then.

Pereira instead Bennet is excellent. I can't do it though.

I have enough funds to do Mitro -> Arnie later

No. Salah is a better option than Sterling imo.

    2. Phil's Stamps
      8 years, 11 days ago

      Yes, Salah vs Sterling:
      1. uncertainty around Salah injury
      2. comparison in form between Sterling and the Egyptian.
      3. Liverpool players seem to be dropping like flies, who's going to be playing around and supporting Salah?
      4. Significant price difference

  5. Atimis

Any word on Salah? Still worth considering him as transfer in for this week?

I am not sure if I should be flattered or slightly concerned that you have studied my team's gameweeks so keenly. If owning Ryan from GW1 is my worst blunder you can find then I guess things haven't gone so badly this season.

    WC team

    Patricio/Foster

    Mendy/Luiz/TAA/Bennett/WB
    Hazard/Mane/Rich/Mad/Schurrle
    Aguero/Firmino/Jimenez

1.1 ITB do I hold some of that or upgrade WB?

    Too many Wolves players?

Jimenez third on the watchlist for forwards!? Come on.. Arnie, Mitro, Wilson, Vardy, Murray all better options. He isn’t exactly prolific and never has been. Price aside he plays for Wolves and has butchered plenty of chances this season

    1. Demel
      8 years, 11 days ago

I have owned him all season. He is a steady source of points and a bargain price. What is not to like?

      1. IRBOX âš½

I didn’t say he wasn’t to like, just that he should certainly not be that high on the list

Funny on some other sites I look at a lot of Mane & no Salah owners going lol to me when it seemed Salah was in strife yesterday & Mane was looking good & now today things have altered & they're nowhere to be seen. The moral is never make fun of others because karma will strike you down.

Stuck with Hennessy and want to get Dubravka to replace him. I am 0.1 short.
    Do I:?
a Hen to Duv and Shaw to Duffy/Yedlin
b Hen to Duv and Seri to Kennedy
c Hen to Duv and Kane to Firmino. Will have 3.0 mil upgrade Moura to Mane next week.
    d Hen to Patricio

    2FTs. Need some advise.

    Current team:

    GK: Hart
Def: Castro (Jonny), Trippier, TAA & Alonso
    Mid: Maddison, Richarlison & Hazard
    Fwd: Kane, Augero & Mitrovic

Subs: Foster, Fraser, Wan B, & Obiang (bench fodder)

    a) Kane & Mitrovic >> Firmino & Lacazette
    b) Kane >> Firmino
    c) Kane >> Lacazette
    d) Mitrovic >> Wilson (punt)
    e) Trippier >> Doherty (free up some cash)
    f) some else, but what? 😛

News from Liverpool Echo 45 mins ago.

Let’s start with some big news emerging about three of Liverpool’s major stars.
James Milner, Mohamed Salah and Virigi van Dijk are all set to be fit for the Reds’ game against Huddersfield on Saturday,
    according to the Metro.

Make of it what you will.

    1. Taking the Mkhitaryan
      8 years, 11 days ago

If it quotes the metro, I won't be making much of it I am afraid

    2. Pacer.
      8 years, 11 days ago

Let's be honest, Salah hasn't actually looked fit yet this season. Passing a fitness test relating to the recent injury is just a ticket to be mentally and physically under par in the PL

Well I'd be more confident with Salah starting over Mane.

        I own both though

        1. Pacer.
          8 years, 11 days ago

Anecdotally I think Liverpool look worse in the past without Mane. Also there's Shaqiri now. Feel that Mane could be the one viewed as crucial if both are borderline

    Hazard(MUN,H) Sterling(vc)(BUR,H) Richarlison(CRY,H) Maddison(ARS,A) Fraser(SOU,H)

Currently have Salah and Fraser on knocks but if i want Doherty he needs to come in before rising. If one of Salah/Fraser ends up dropped, that'd leave me Bennett first sub for a Wolves double up; any worries there?
    A) Double Wolves looks good.
    B) Double Wolves looks too much this week.

If all nightmares come true and both Salah and Fraser miss out, that would mean AWB or Westwood coming on from second sub: who is the better of the two bad options?
    A) Westwood.
    B) AWB.

    Two boring questions but thanks!
