While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

Why is everyone overlooking Hazard as captain? Great form, only played one game over the break, and has Man United who look terrible and shipped two goals vs. Newcastle at HOME! Hazard could score a hattrick tmrw. Just saying.

Mourinho typically comes prepared with a plan to shut down single star players. We've seen it time and time again. I think it's much more likely that Hazard is kept really quiet than him exploding.

        I agree with the above

      2. THEBLACKSWORDSMAN
        8 years, 15 days ago

Yes that's true but you have to look at the context of each game by itself. Right now Man United are struggling and Mourinho job is under threat, he is desperate for a good result. He may very well attack because sitting back against Sarriball is just asking for a blowout. Also Matic and Fellani are injured so who is gonna mark Harard? McTominay? I think this game will be a big win for Chelsea. We'll see but I'm going with Hazard captain.

      1. THEBLACKSWORDSMAN

What curse? I think that one is more psychological than anything. People hate seeing their captain go first because there are so many other games played after that they perceive could be better. In reality every game is just a game and players can score big if its the last game or the first.

Why? If anything, he needs to play to regain his confidence and form and this is a perfect fixture to do it. Also with Mane likely to be out, he's even more likely to play.

Again, I think he's like 90-95% certain to start.

          1. Desperately Seeking Dusan
            8 years, 15 days ago

Come on Camzy... "regain his confidence". He just scored direct from a corner for Egypt.

There's a narrative around that Salah is somehow in crisis. FACT, he has 42 points this season after playing Chelsea, City and Spurs. At exactly the same point of last season when he was considered absolutely essential, he had 46 points. The only difference is his price now and something people can't get out of their heads.

            1. Camzy
              • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Still doesn't mean he's back to top-form. He needs to bag a few in the league.

          2. boogle
            8 years, 15 days ago

Good point on Mane... you don't see a front 3 of Shaqiri - Sturridge - Firmino ?

            Maybe you are right..

        3. Desperately Seeking Dusan
          8 years, 15 days ago

Honestly, I think he starts but I don't think it's a crazy worry. It's not non-negligible. Last season LFC didn't have the squad depth they do now. They didn't really have options to rest most players and a criticism of Klopp's teams at Dortmund was that they ran out of steam in the latter part of the season because of how they play. I do think it's possible that Klopp could rest - bench anyway - important names for the weaker teams and be able to bring them on if necessary.

          1. boogle
            8 years, 15 days ago

Good point, I am a little worried - I do think Liverpol need to keep the pressure up though and cannot afford to drop points in this fixture so that could mean a start for Salah

I wouldn't ditch TAA either. Even if he IS a rotation risk vs the top teams, would you want him playing against them? He's got such assist potential, I like him playing vs the weaker sides.

Not sure on Mendy.. I planned to downgrade Alonso but I wonder how nailed Mendy is. I can handle rotation risk with Sterling and Kun given their potential for attacking returns coming on for just 20 minutes or overall. I think given their upcoming schedule, I'd be inclined to go Robbo and double on Liverpool defence if you can.

How does Fraser + Mane > Haz + Schurle look for a (-4)? With 3 doubts I’d like to have some security. Don’t like WB coming off the bench.

    Patricio
    Smalling Alonso AWB
    Haz Richa Mane(75%) Fraser (75%)
    Aguero Jimenez Kane

    Subs: Hamer Stephens Kabasele Peltier

2 FT and 1,3m in bank

Thinking Sterling and Wilson for Kane and Fraser. Then Salah for sterling the week after.

    Thoughts?

Up for interpretation really. I choose to take it as that Salah is fit to start.
