Gameweek 9 comes to a conclusion on Monday evening as Arsenal take on Leicester City at the Emirates, a fixture in which seven goals were scored last season.

Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.7m) scored in that match in August 2017 and both players lead the line for their respective clubs this evening.

Unai Emery has once again chosen to overlook Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m) and Aaron Ramsey (£7.4m), however, with the pair among the Arsenal substitutes.

Any disheartened Fantasy owners should perhaps take some consolation from the fact that the pair went on to score 15 and ten points respectively when named as substitutes in Gameweek 8, though the Gunners were up against a welcoming Fulham defence a fortnight ago.

Mesut Ozil (£8.3m) returns to the side to line up alongside Alex Iwobi (£5.5m) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£6.9m) in the three attacking midfield positions behind Lacazette.

Sokratis (£5.2m) and Petr Cech (£5.0m) were doubts for this match and haven’t quite made it, while Nacho Monreal (£5.5m) has been withdrawn from the Arsenal squad as a precaution with a tight hamstring.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (£4.6m) makes his first league start of the season at left-back.

Leicester City’s team news is less eventful, with Claude Puel forced into the only change he has made this evening: Jonny Evans (£4.8m) replacing the suspended Wes Morgan (£4.5m) at centre-half.

Summer signing Caglar Soyuncu (£4.9m) is among the substitutes.

Ricardo Pereira (£5.1m) once again lines up “out of position” on the right of midfield on the opposite flank to the most popular Fantasy asset in the Foxes’ squad: James Maddison (£7.0m).

Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Bellerin, Holding, Mustafi, Lichtsteiner; Xhaka, Torreira; Ozil, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan; Lacazette.

Leicester City XI (4-4-1-1): Schmeichel; Amartey, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell; Pereira, Mendy, Ndidi, Maddison; Iheanacho; Vardy.

Mendy or Alonso in my WC?

Thoughts on this WC team then?

            Current:

            Foster Fabs
            Doherty WanB Tomkins Alonso Robbo
            Sterling Hazard Rich Maddison Stephens
            Kun Ings Mitro

            WC:

            Hamer Fabs
            Doherty WanB Alonso Robbo Mendy
            Salah Hazard Rich Maddison Billing
            Madine Kun Mitro

            Would pretty much play 442

Terrible start to the season, but 18 juicy points today from Ozil and Steve Cook autosub have brough my OR from 500k+ to just over 200k 🙂

I was originally planning to get rid of Ozil, but at this point I'm not sure what to do now.

    Ederson | Hamer
    Alonso | Mendy | Robbo | S. Cook | AWB
    Haz | Mane | Ozil | Fraser | Guendouzi
    Aguero | Mitro | Ings

    1 FT, 1.4 ITB

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Not necessarily. They've got some interesting options with Snodgrass there, Wilshere and Obiang, etc. Antonio is going to have to play better to be handed more minutes, I think.

    2. Dopey44

No guarantee. There's Snodgrass and Diangana playing better, not to mention Chicharito fighting for a spot too

Diangana or Chicharito. If it's the latter, Arnie might might dissapoint. Snodgrass for all his effort just isn't up to it. Antonio's confidence is shot.

    Aubameyang
In my team: 7 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, 4ppg
Not in my team: 2 games, 4 goals, 1 assist, 13.5 (!) ppg despite being benched!

So, after skilfully avoiding most of King and Mitrovic's points (despite owning both at different times), it's now Aubameyang and Lacazette's turn! 😀

OK, 2 goals in 2 matches from Lacazette has hardly been a disaster, but it still feels painful to have Aubameyang explode for 2 braces in 2 matches after keeping faith with him for seven whole weeks.

    1. jia you
      8 years, 4 days ago

Just unlucky thats all mate, just goes to show that having a litte more patience with Auba would have been rewarded! But tbh the bigger problem likely was that you held him too long!
Just the 9pts seperating us at 9k and 16k.

      1. Pierce34
        8 years, 4 days ago

I shouldn't complain really because I even got a tiny green arrow, but it's still annoying, haha!

Their stats and average positions all pointed towards Lacazette as the man to get - not to mention that the transfer left me money ITB to get Mendy (which I used to get Sterling instead - facepalm!).

        1. jia you
          8 years, 4 days ago

So hard to get these decisions correct and not go against you, the fickle nature of this game!
I didnt see the game but read that both Laca and Maddy were unlucky not to have gotten points!

          1. Pierce34
            8 years, 4 days ago

I followed live commentary and looked at stats later - Lacazette apparently missed an absolute sitter that was tougher to miss rather than score. Checking the stats later showed an xG value of 0.77 on that chance alone! On an alternate universe Lacazette had a brace and Aguero 4 goals with the chances they got this week 😀

  10. stat
    8 years, 4 days ago

Assuming Hazard misses the Burnley match, who would you captain from the following?

    A) Robertson vs CAR - Great chance of a clean sheet and bonus points.
    B) Sterling vs tot - Rested & last season he scored 3 goals and got 1 assist in 2 PL games vs Spurs.
    C) Aguero vs tot - Great underlying stats, but hasn't scored against Spurs in the league in 5 games. Might be subbed off early.
    D) Mitrovic vs BOU - Potentially a high scoring game, likely to be involved if Fulham score
    E) Wilson vs ful - Potentially a high scoring game, likely to be involved if Bournemouth score

    1. Viper

Liverpool have kept 9 clean sheets in their last 9 home PL games. Last time they conceded at Anfield in the league was on the 24th of February to West Ham.
If Hazard is fit will you go with him?

Wilson especially. Bournemouth are such an unpredictable side. Losing to Burnley 4-0 and beating Watford 4-0. Wouldn't be surprised if Fulham somehow kept a clean sheet against them, because you know, it's Bournemouth.

The same Fulham defence that just two days ago shipped four to Cardiff, as many goals as Cardiff have scored so far this season?

          1. stat
            8 years, 4 days ago

            Missing the point
My point isn't that Fulham's defence is good (it's utter rubbish)
It's that Bournemouth have been so unpredictable that if they failed to score against Fulham I wouldn't be surprised because they're elite level FPL trolls

            1. Eddie
              • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I get that. Just think that you might be overstating Bournemouth's inconsistency. Burnley can defend exceptionally well at home, whereas Bournemouth have always been leaky for the very reason that they are so attacking. The surprising thing in your example was more that they managed to keep Watford out, not that they blanked away at Burnley.

As I suggested, I think they are likely to score against Fulham, and as you pointed out, Wilson has a good chance of being involved.

              1. stat
                8 years, 4 days ago

                Yeah you're right.
I was exaggerating because I've been burned by Bournemouth assets this season - benching Wilson's 14 pt haul against Watford away to start Pedro vs sou (Wtf was I thinking?), and getting rid of Fraser on my GW 5 wildcard because I didn't want to risk carrying a potentially injured player. He then got 18 pts.

Ryan + Patricio owners, who are you going to start this GW?

Brighton are at home to Wolves.

Wolves have the upper hand in terms of attacking and defending underlying stats in the last 4 GWs when compared to Brighton. However Brighton have shown us that they are a decent side at home and they rarely fail to score there.

I missed out on Ryan's 11 pts this GW. In the future I'm just going to set and forget a keeper and hope for the best.

Tough one. Normally I'd back the home team if it's 50/50. But I think Wolves edge it. Plus, Murray could be out.

I thought Wolves were unlucky to concede this week, haven't caught much of the Brighton games but didn't think their defensive stats were that great.

            8 years, 4 days ago

Ya 1st goal was out of nowhere and they were stunned from it and conceded again within a minute. Patricio only made 1 save outside of that. Just a hiccup for Wolves

Brighton's two clean sheets came against West Ham and Newcastle. I watched the West Ham game and saw the highlights of the Newcastle game and I think both teams were unlucky not to score.

    2. Ziyech on the Bench

Wolves just lost 2-0 at home to a side that lost 3 games in a row, I would go with Brighton but with the way this game works, it'll be a 1-1

      1. stat
        8 years, 4 days ago

And Patricio has only conceded 3 goals in 4 away games while Ryan has conceded 6 goals in 4 home games.
I think you're right - both teams will probably score. Brighton normally score at home and Wolves have only failed to score twice this season (Brighton only three times).
But if Murray is out then I'll surely go with Patricio.

But think it's late enough in the season for us to have a good idea of who is nailed and how sides are shaping up so happy with picking fairly template picks and wait and see how KDB or other potential picks perform.

Can I get thoughts on the following. I've had this WC team in mind for a couple weeks and worried I'm becoming a bit blinkered. Plan to play 4 at back every week, Doherty and Balbuena rotating.

    Pat Fab
    Alonso Mendy Robbo Doherty Babuena
    Salah Haz Richarlison Fraser 4.4
    Aguero Arnie Ings

Anyone point out any obvious weaknesses?

      It looks decent.
I think Doherty plays every week.

Really? Wolves have some horrid fixtures incoming. Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool in next 9. I don't see cleansheets every week.

I don't think West Ham will get any.

I've thought they've looked really tight last few games. I'll check stats and maybe reassess.

Agreed on West Ham Eddie......good choice in an attempt to get ahead of the curve. The right Hammers pick could be a very useful accumulator of points in the coming weeks.

      Really love it
Ryan instead of fab maybe coz double westham def is risky and ryan doing well. Somewhat similar rotation with pat.
Maybe change rich if he keeps his oop?

Thanks. Difficulty with Ryan is that both he and Patricio rotate really well with Fab, like really well (Only face 2 top 6 teams until end of season with a particularly nice early run).

Trouble with Rich is price point. I don't really like him as a pick but can't find much better and don't want to pull apart back line or big hitters. If Salah doesn't produce over next few I'll lose him and get two decent mids.

Any cash left in the Kitty? Maddison looks an upgrade on Richalison.

None at all unfortunately. Thus the 4.4 mid. I'm willing to see what Rich can do over his next 4 home matches. I am concerned about not having maddison over their fun of fixtures.

Does Babuena to Bennett give you the funds for Maddison? I hear ya on Richalison though.

Yeah it's my best ever start to a season. Just gutted because my captain choices have been poor as usual and I could have been much higher. In total my captains have only scored 3 goals, got 5 assists and 1 bonus point.
