*This came in too close to the deadline to be published in time. It’s posted now to give a place for Eliteserien talk, and because it’s a nice preview!

With four rounds of fixtures to go in Norway the title race and relegation battle are in full swing, giving fantasy managers a chance to propel themselves up the rankings by backing the right teams. Some key suspensions and injuries this week could provide the perfect chance for anyone with their wildcard remaining to steal an advantage. The final two weeks could be a good opportunity to utilise any remaining chips, with all matches kicking off simultaneously.

Several teams will be tested on multiple fronts, as Strømsgodset, Lillestrøm, Start and Rosenborg will feature in the NM Cupen semi-finals following GW27. Rosenborg and Sarpsborg continue their Europa League exploits, with the latter still in with a chance of surprise progression despite tanking in the league.

Gameweek 27 Feature Matches

Strømsgodset vs. Vålerenga
(Saturday, 5 p.m.)

The news that Marcus Pedersen is out for the season is a blow for the underachieving Godset, but firepower hasn’t been their problem this season. Tokmac Nguen’s pace and skill on the ball can still be a source of creativity, while Eirik Ulland Andersen’s set piece ability always makes him a threat. Mos will probably get a chance to lead the line but hasn’t repeated his exploits for Aalesund last season.

For the visitors, Sam Johnson looks to have rediscovered his clinical early season form, while Bård Finne has added workrate and energy to the Oslo club’s attack. The unpredictable Chidera Ejuke is a difficult fantasy player to trust in, but he could thrive against a pourous defence.

Bodø/Glimt vs. Stabæk
(Sunday, 5 p.m.)

Without a win in five, the goals have dried up for the likes of Kristian Fardal Opseth and Amor Layouni. If they are unable to find an attacking spark, it could be down to the defence featuring the towering Martin Bjornbak to keep the northerners in the division.

Franck Boli is the star attraction in this relegation 6-pointer. Pedersen’s injury makes the Ivorian the favourite for the golden boot, and his price has risen by 1.8m following 13 goals in his last 12 games. Stabæk will hope he avoids a third consecutive booking that would see him fall off the suspension tightrope. For those with faith in the away team, there are budget options all over the park including goalkeeper Marcus Sandberg and midfielders Hugo Vetlesen and Moussa Njie, but Boli is the talisman.

Brann vs. Rosenborg
(Sunday, 7 p.m.)

The top two clash in Bergen. A Brann win would see them rise to the summit of the table, while a Rosenborg win would send them 5 points clear and make them massive favourites to retain the title.

Brann’s defence hasn’t been as impenetrable as it was earlier in the season, but Vito Wormgoor’s unit could still punish non-owners due to their high ownership and attacking potential. Fredrik Haugen is suspended for this one, so there will be added emphasis on the likes of Gilbert Koomson and Kristoffer Barmen to create chances. The frontline is difficult to predict; despite adding the exciting Dauoda Bamba to the reliable Steffen Lie Skålevik, Henrik Kjelsrud Johansen surprisingly started and scored last time out.

Rosenborg’s recent team selections have been impacted by injury and illness, but a host of players including Tore Reginiussen and Birger Meling should return to shield the league’s best goalkeeper Andre Hansen. While the defence have lived up to their hefty price tags, the same can’t be said for many of the champions’ attackers this season. Nicklas Bendtner and Alexander Søderlund are high-risk options, with neither having the form or security of starts to make them hugely appealing, even with Issam Jebali injured. Samuel Adegbenro could inject some energy on the wing after a lengthy layoff, but he is also expensive and faces competition from Yann-Erik De Lanlay and Jonathan Levi.

Start vs. Molde

(Monday, 7 p.m.)

Under Kjetil Rekdal, Start look far more competitive and have a chance of staying up. Herolind Shala has provided much needed attacking flair in the absence of Kevin Kabran, while Mathias Bringaker has been a super sub of late, grabbing 4 goals and 1 assist off the bench. Key men Aremu Afeez and Damion Lowe are suspended here; the latter’s 24 points awarded by the man in the stand have already matched Bendtner and Haugen’s bonus totals from last season.

Molde are the league’s top scorers and form team, unbeaten in their last six. A win here could give them an outside chance at mounting a late title challenge. Ole Gunnar Solskjær looks to have eased off his rotation policy, making all of Eirik Hestad, Fredrik Aursnes, Etzaz Hussain and Magnus Wolff Eikrem valid options in midfield. The latter is the least owned by fantasy managers and has set pieces at his disposal. They will look to make the most of wonderkid Erling Braut Håland before his move to Red Bull Salzburg in the new year.

I realize the deadline has passed, but thanks for this! Couldn't quite get it done in time.

How is everyone's season going? What are the transfers you're looking at for next GW? What are your season rank goals?

Are you looking at differentials to move up or just trying to hold a rank?

    1. MTPockets
      7 years, 9 months ago

Risked Rufo as trying to pick up players from teams still fighting to stay up (+ EUA, Boli, Smarason). Torn between looking at Nguen, Start and/or BG for same reason vs getting RBK attackers. Issue for the latter is they've pretty much already won the title, so will they rest/rotate given Cup and Europa games? Then Adebenro went off last night - hopefully just a dead leg but can't find info yet.

Basically still trying to move up from 1k ish rank.

Nguen is looking really good.. but RBK attackers are also looking like they could do well. Not sure if they'll rest/rotate but they might be playing with confidence and less pressure.

Looking at Bendtner but not sure it's worth it

Great to see a new article! Big night for me with 3 players from Molde (Håland as capt, Hestad and Aursnes). Wish me luck! Contemplating a move for Adenbeno as my aim is the top 1k but is he worth the cash?

Yeah definitely! Hope we have another one for the next GW.. if someone is doing one make a post so we don't double it up! Or so people can collaborate.

Big night! I'm not sure if he's worth the cash.. certainly wait until after tonight. I feel like I remember seeing that he picked up a knock but maybe it was someone else?

Week started well with Nguen and EUA, but Rufo was only other outfield player to get more than two points (and captained Håland).
Total 51 and a small green arrow to c.1400, still targeting top 1k, think it will come down to luck though for using my last chip (two captains).

        Should be a nice boost

Are you looking at differential picks or kind of just going standard?

My points are bouncing from 30s to 50-60s almost every other round now, so I'm losing the ground I gained the round before on a week to week basis, which is frustrating.

Other than that I'm still aiming for and thinking top 10% is decent enough for me, personally. Turns out I'm 2000 places away. But that's only about 25 points to climb.

Thus I need to find a good combination between performing differentials and common point haulers. Got Two Captains left to play.

Thanks for the post, always appreciated.

Up to 659 OR with a couple of players in tonight’s match.

    https://en.fantasy.eliteserien.no/a/entry/571/history

Would be well chuffed with a top 1% finish so inside the top 600. And would like to finish top of the country league (Thailand, where I live), I’m top just now, 19 points clear of second place but second place has all three Chips still to play and he’s an active player so I guess he will comfortably over-take me.

Plan to roll the transfer for GW 28, one transfer in GW 29 and two transfers on GW 30 and go for some differentials with the last three transfers.

I captained Håland too, but have Aursnes and Sarr still playing. Currently ranked number 1 for players that joined in GW9, and 24th in the FPL Withdrawal League - hardly setting the world alight, but I love having an interest in Eliteserien.

Hi guys, currently beating my Norwegian friends despite being fairly clueless as to which transfers to make. I currently have 2 chips left, Spissrush and To Kapteiner, could someone please tell me exactly what these do? I also have wildcard left. Which chip would be best used over the coming weeks?

Just figured out what they mean, hehe. I'm thinking I should either WC this week or save for IB and use Spissrush this week with Johnson, Bamba and Boli up top. Thoughts?

    2. MTPockets

Depends on priorities. Need to use a chip a week so if e.g. want to get RBK players in then would wc this week, otherwise could leave it until final GW as you say.

Ohi. Two home games. Could be coming back into form and still has something left to play for. Bit of a differential as well. Only dead teams and casuals like me will have him.

Tough one. Haven't decided. Didn't have many forwards in mind for the coming weeks originally. Thinking about Wadji or Mortensen. Got Boli, otherwise Ohi could've been an alternative, as well. Then there's Johnson, who has two home matches and the occassional haul potential.

Nice one. I have Johnson and Boli so looking for a third to maybe play Spissrush with.

          Or I'll just play Smarason

See above, Wadji or Ohi at present are on the radar. Latter seems the sensible pick but former has form, fixtures, and price advantage.

    3. MTPockets
      7 years, 9 months ago

No idea. Maybe a Brann fwd if one was nailed. Akinyemi keep getting subbed after 60-70 mins. Mos should play with Pedersen out, but with EUA seems overkill away at Brann. Hadn't noticed Wadji until now. There's always Bendtner. Will wait for cup semi finals first anyway.

Went with Wadji, leaving me with the following squad:

      Hansen
      Tønne - Woormgoor - Stølås
      Smarason - Kalludra - Nguen - Shala
      Wadji - Bamba - Boli
      (Maric; Rolantsson, Ejuke, Ruud)

Unsure about who to bench or not. Ruud on the bench is a bit scetchy, but he's up against RBK. Considering him for Tønne, though. Smarason or Boli gets the armband.

Not taking any hits but 0FT and 8.1(!) itb

That's a ridiculous bank balance, I'll have similar though if I go for Wadji...
ATM I'm benching Ruud and Nguen (playing EUA assuming he's fit). Both benchings don't seem right, despite who they're playing.

I have no idea how I ended there, myself! But sold Bendtner and Pedersen fairly early, and most late season assets I've been getting has been cheap performers. Plus in general the glaring hole in my lineup that is only one RBK-player....

    5. TallestJohn
      • 9 Years

Probably Boli, although I do like the Ohi shout as it looked like he got a bit less defensive attention against B/G. I like Mortensen's fixtures and he's old reliable but feels a bit risky bringing in players with nothing to play for at this stage.

Wish I could bin Lehne Olsen or Engblom as both were shocking in front of goal this week, could've easily had 4 goals between them but I've got Håland, Ejuke, Acosta who are bigger problems.

  13. MTPockets

    Smárason - Eikrem - Akintola - EUA
    Boli - Finne

Need some help with this team. Have two free transfers and 1,8 m itb. Braut Håland needs to go, but is there an obvious second transfer to make? With an OR currently at 4,016, I can't hope for a good finish to the season, but I do have both Spissrush and To kapteiner to play.

I like the rest of your team. That's a really solid rank to have with 3 weeks, 2FT and 2 chips left. I'd imagine you've got a chance of top 1k if you play chips right. I'd probably roll the second FT and use it to set up to play a chip in GW29.

      1. TAT

I hope you're right re. chips! Have no idea when or who to spend the chips on; Wadji looks to be in form, so can always play the Spissrush chip on him, Boli and Finne this week, for example – possibly saving To kapteiner for one of the remaining GW's.

Might just save that second transfer. It can come in handy.

    2. MTPockets

Your squad's similar to mine, where once you 've switched Haaland the rest have ok fixtures this gw (except EUA but assume you'd start him regardless).

So agree with rolling 1FT. Could maybe take a midfield punt but then have a bench headache. In fact already the usual headache with defence and Tønne.

Bendtner is on trial today in Copenhagen. Norwegian and Danish sports media are reporting live. The case is described as a stress factor, for obvious reasons, but his cup goal yesterday is nevertheless a good sign on that part. No good signs so far in court, though.

The prosecutor is asking for 3 months. 1 for the taxi driver. The final verdict will fall shortly. No certain reports on how RBK will react at this time as far as I can see, but I certainly wouldn't bring him in, no matter the outcome. Seems pretty certain his national team career is over if found guilty, though. Perhaps either way.

I’ve had 4 red arrows last 6 gameweeks but hit it pretty good in GW 25 and 27 so up to OR 198. Mos as captain last GW and my mids Eikrem/Hestad/Nguen helpt me to 56p. Have used my free transfer this week on BrautH > Mortensen. S08 have Tromsø and Sandefjord in the 2 last games and I think we will see some goals there... My team this GW:
    Hansen/Regis-Tønne-Worm/Eikrem-Hestad-Shala-Nguen/Boli(C)-Mos-Mortensen. Good luck everyone...

Sarpsborg still in Europa which is putting me off, otherwise would get Mortensen too.

Who to captain out of Boli, Eikrem, Finne ot Wadji? Also looking at the posibility of playing the Spissrush on these strikers.

Wadji seems a decent bet as you have him.

Definitely considering it. Also tempting to play Spissrush now, before it's too late. Also have Two Captains still.

This or final gw look best for spissrush on those 3.

Definitely. The risk with the final GW is the potential of rotations (depending on how much is decided in the league). Well, I think that's decided then – Spissrush this GW it is!

Another dilemma: Need to bench two out of Tønne, EUA, Wormgoor and Ròlantsson – but who? Leaning towards benching Tønne and Ròlantsson.

Would probably do that (currently benching Tonne over Wormgoor).
But Brann haven't kept a cs for 6 games, so I'm wavering.

Still can't decide who to get for Haaland either - want Mos but that blocks RBK mid.

Yeah, don't trust Brann for clean sheets anymore, but they can still manage a few, I think. Tønne away is probably more unlikely to deliver returns, I think.

    Expected RBK team:

    André Hansen
Erlend Reitan - Even Hovland - Tore Regiiniussen - Birger Meling
Mike Jensen - Anders Konradsen - Matthias Vilhjalmsson
Pål André Helland - Alexander Søderlund - Nicklas Bendtner

Can't decide between Søderlund and Bendtner...

I've got Soderlund, but may only be for one game and couldn't afford Bendtner.

Dilemma: should I cap Boli, Rofus or Wadji? Considering Rofus since insane poins last games, but start defenders and LOWE is back on track and I Guess Rekdal is focusing on defence this game..

      Boli the sensible option.

Real benching and captain headache this week. On Boli but probably Wadji if I had him.

Braut and Acosta → Boli and Reginiussen my boring but sensible transfers this week. Captaining Smarason, Lehne Olsen can't hit a barn door but he was better at linkup play at Tromsø too and I think Smarason will be LSK's main attacking threat in a must win game.

Not a good start for Spissrush…

At least you have more captains...

Yeah, luckily. Mini league rival got Kristiansund double up with Aasmundsen and McDermott, so definitely need some returns from the two other strikers.

Do people still have chips left? I still have double captain and thinking of using it on two RBK defenders in GW30 because... why not? Attackers are way too unreliable.

Have the same chip for final gw, but depends how bottom of the table/playoff position looks.

Playing Spissrush this GW, and have double captain left. Have no idea when to play it, or who to captain. Wouldn't be surprised if I leave it to the last GW.

Yep, also have Two Captains. Might use it next week, I fancy Godset attackers.
