How premium options compare with best-ever FPL scores: Harry Kane

In this short series over the international break, we will be comparing some of the top premium options against their best-ever FPL campaigns.

With big fixture swings approaching in Gameweeks 15 and 16, Fantasy managers will have to make sure they are in possession of the right expensive options.

As Tottenham Hotspur are one of the teams with an appealing schedule on the horizon, we have started this series with their star striker Harry Kane (£12.4m).

Kane’s best-ever FPL season was recorded in the 2016/17 campaign when he scored 29 goals and assisted seven others.

Those figures combined for a total score of 224 points, 33 of which were registered through bonus.

The England captain gave a valiant effort in trying to follow up that career high-score in 2017/18. His 217 points last year were just seven short of the previous campaign.

So far in 2018/19, Kane has amassed 61 points at an average of 5.08 per game. If he continues at his current rate he should record a total score of 193 points, which would be the fourth-best of his FPL career.

Kane will probably score over 200pts again this season. The issue with him is he is unpredictable in his points scoring. He is the type of player that can score a brace against Utd away and then blank against Cardiff, Fulham and Watford at home.

Owning a 12.5m player who you don't know when to captain is not great.

    1. Cok3y5murf

He's shite. And 200 pts isn't enough for his price. Needs more like 240.

He's not shite but he isn't justifying his price tag this season (neither is Salah though). I never bring him in until he starts banging them in, although admittedly that is looking like it won't happen this season. He may have to start nicking goals off his team mates again 😉

I posted before the season that he should be priced the same as Aguero at 11 and everyone disagreed.

He should be, but the advantage he had over Aguero pretty season was that there was no direct replacement for him on Spurs bench, whereas Keiss was thought to be a serious threat to Aguero 's starts.

The extra money is because of Kane 's nailedness.

That's understandable from an FPL point of view.

I did argue that Aguero had the advantage of better PPM, whereas Kane had the advantage of nailedness which made it even. But anyway, don't want to get into that again.

Definitely not worth 12.5. Why wouldn't anyone have salah instead for slightly more when he gets assists, extra goal points and clean sheet points? Kane would have had to score about 20 more goals last season to get more than 300 points!

Or Aguero who's the best striker in the league, gets assists, is a lot cheaper and and plays for the team that scores the most goals (by far)?

If he goes on to score 30 this season and the 24 goals remaining are scored in the remaining 27 fixtures, then he will be a decent pick. But I just can't see him as better value than hazard, Aguero, sterling or Salah.

I 'll be getting him in rather than Kun on WC, thinking of GW 18 - 27 at least. That covers the festive period and periods of possible rotation for Aguero once CL starts up again.

He's a shoe in over the festive period and when he gets going, he can brace quite often.

I'll try and get him in for saints gw15 using fts and captain him

Agree with this, that's why I may pick him, but he'll always be a very short term pick this season and may affect the rest of your team slightly which isn't desirable.

It's all about catching the front end of 3-6 GWs of hauls to pick up rank before he becomes template and hope a Kun injury doesn't force everyone to fit Kane in their team before those hauls come....if they do.

Mourinho does seem to reward good form though. Remember when Lingard went on that amazing run and was starting all the time.

I'll only be worried if Martial has a couple of bad games on the spin.

I thought this. Can't predict that though. I do think if he gets a start though, he will likely do nothing and this will annoy Mourinho and then Martial will be back in. Lukaku is neither in good form nor 100% fit (I imagine).

So for the first time this season I'm feeling a little pressure that my team is starting to dip and I have a few players that are losing form, or are no longer offering the best value. I'm also looking at players if like rising in value. I don't want to make rash moves that cost hits, but equally don't want to be too slow to move. My rank is V high so ownership is a major consideration for me

What formation do you play? Do you normally play 3-4-3? If so then I would be seriously tempted to swap Wilson to jininez and maybe even Maddison to martial for a hit. Or just do Wilson - Jimenez and play 433 this gameweek and make Maddison trade to Filipe Anderson for his amazing run of fixtures!

B - Kane more nailed on than Salah and could match his scoring, and that gives better options on the bench too.

I think Salah > Kane at GW17 might be the ideal time to make the move.

    Salah:
    United (H)
    Wolves (A)
    Newcastle(H)
    Arsenal(H)
    Man City(A)

    Kane:
    Burnley(H)
    Everton(A)
    Bournemouth(H)
    Wolves(H)
    Cardiff(A)

Salah can obviously score in any fixture, but can't see him hauling in those fixtures apart from maybe Newcastle.

no need to (c) Kane. Just having might be enough conidering his 1.4% ownership in top 10k.

Haz or Kun can be captained.

Let's be fair, only ManC away is a tough fixture. ManU cant be looked at like last year and Arsenal leak goals (from a Gooner).

Anyone still has their WC? Wondering when is the best week to use?

I'm thinking GW15 to swap haz&aguero to salah&kane, with a view to bring at least one of them back in GW17. Then load up on spurs, whu, eve.

I'm really not sure any more, could be any week from 14 to 18.

GW 14 if I can't see a way to get Hazard back in, 15/16 are best fixtures but not much time in between GW's, and if neither I'll wait until GW 18

Salah is a no go unless his form changes, the lack of bonus even when he scores is maddening. Needs a goal and assist just to get 2BPS, due to missed big chances and lack of touches. He needs to overachieved on goals per shot like last year....not a lethal finisher.

Salah has been perfect in a captaincy rotation with Aguero and Hazard for me this season. Can’t see that changing much in December either.

salah will probably be just for GW15&16 and he will become haz(or kun) in GW17. I think he will outscore both haz and kun over those two game weeks. I can only afford to have 2 10m+ players in my team.

Was holding for the Spurs/Arsenal fixture swing but set on my team and not sure there are too many punts I want to take. Probably Alli or Ozil would be enough.

Brave if you are ditching Hazard and Aguero though.

Fulham's owner Shahid Khan delivered combative public support for manager Slavisa Jokanovic in his programme notes for the home game against Bournemouth less than three weeks ago, telling fans "don't believe anything" in reports he faced the sack.

Meh. I'm glad he's gone. He did us good last season. But he's had trouble with this pick and mix team he assembled this season. Ranieri will work out the right structure and get the right signings going forward.

They then got embarrassed by Bournemouth at home and lost a classic six-pointer against Huddersfield without threatening at all. While I have no doubt that a lot of messages of 'public support' by owners are just for show, at the same time they are allowed to change their mind.

I'm beginning to wonder why I brought barkley in after his last haul, now I'm stuck with him as I already have planned transfers to make

              Defo was a trap.

As was Walcott, and Morata more recently.

Likewise. I was over thinking it. So many players in my team had bad fixtures and it seemed like a good idea with Chelseas 3 good home fixtures in the next 4. Currently down 8 points as a result and need to move him on.

Is David Silva viable? KDB out means he’s playing in a further forward role and I’d say he was one of the more nailed on players.
I’m looking to do these transfers between now and gw16/17
            Holebas > Laporte
            Bennett > alderweireld
            Salah > David Silva
            Murray > Kane
            Ings > kamara
            With 0.1 ITB.
            My team would then be
            Fabianski
            Alderweireld robbo Alonso Laporte
            Mane hazard richarlison David Silva
            Kane arnautovic
Bench wan bissaka diagana and kamara.
Apologies for the long post but thoughts??

Genera thoughts are Kane can be downgraded to Aguero or auba if either of them start going mad but spurs’ run just looks too good to ignore. Also Ben Davies is cheaper than alderweireld but is he as nailed on?

I think you'll find Aguero is an upgrade over Kane 😉
