It’s all change for Fantasy Premier League managers as Gameweek 15 looms large.

This is when the fixtures begin to swing in the direction of Tottenham and Arsenal and that has already had an effect on the captain debate.

We’ve taken a look at both the popular options and those most likely to do well in the midweek action in this latest article.

Captain Poll

Harry Kane (£12.4m) looks poised to go into Gameweek 15 as the runaway Fantasy Football Scout captain poll winner. At the time of writing the Tottenham man had a 42% share of the vote ahead of Southampton’s visit to Wembley on Wednesday night. The last time he was the most popular candidate was when they hosted Cardiff in Gameweek 8 – his owners will be hoping for a better showing than his blank against the Bluebirds.

A long way off in second place is Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) who has a 15% share of the vote. Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend and are expected to waltz to victory considering the form their hosts are in. The Clarets have allowed more shots than any other side this season which should afford Salah plenty of chances to finally get his second double-figure haul of the campaign.

Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) looks set to finish the poll in third place, as the most popular of the Manchester City options. He is the top-scoring player in all of FPL right now so there’s so surprise that he’s ahead of his colleagues in this vote. Some might have expected him to have garnered more than 9% support, but it appears the voters are aware of his rotation risk. An away match against Watford looks like one in which Sterling can certainly deliver but the fact that he played the full 90 minutes against Bournemouth does reduce his risk of starting this one – and that is reflected in his percentage share here.

Interestingly, Marko Arnautovic (£7.1m) is up next as he faces Cardiff City on Tuesday night. His 5.67% share of the vote is higher than Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) who trails behind the main group with 4.5%. There is considerable doubt over whether he will even start against Watford with his recent muscular injury, but he has also been so poor away from home too.

Despite emerging as a potential alternative to Kane in the minds of some Fantasy managers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) is lagging well behind in the captain poll. Just 3.49% of voters are considering handing him the armband this weekend even though he faces a leaky Manchester United defence at Old Trafford. Callum Wilson (£6.8m), who faces Huddersfield, is ahead of him on 3.81%.

Eden Hazard (£11.0m) and Sadio Mané (£9.9m) are even further behind with just 1.95% and 1.74% backing respectively.

    Gtg?

    Pat
    Alonso Robbo Digne AWB
Salah (C) Sane D Silva Rich
    Kane (VC) Arnie

    Sub: Stek, Doherty, Murphy, Success

Or is anything worth a -4, really want Patricio out but not sure if worth a hit and worried about Robbo being rested could leave me with no points double Wolves def again

    Last 6 GWs:

    Auba - 6 goals - 15 shots - 11 SiB - 1 assist - 5 attempted assists - 2 big chances created

    Kane - 3 goals - 22 shots - 12 SiB - 1 assist - 2 attempted assists - 0 big chances created

This ain't as clear cut as David Munday and Joe Whatshisname makes it out to be ^^ For me, the fact that Kane takes half of his shots from outside the box, and that Auba has higher assist potential made it easy for me. As well as the difference in price.

What do you think? The FFS boys most of the time use a four match focus when delving into statistics, and often without a thought to who they played against. Does this help us, or trick us, or both?

After that haul? He will more likely play against a "top" side like MUN, but be benched for the weekend.

Kane should also be rested soon, as Poch said in november that only Lloris was able to play all matches in december.

      2. Stat Sloth
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 days ago

If MUN are missing all the yellow defenders they will have big problems, I reckon.

Young, Smalling, Rojo, Bailly, Shaw, Darmian - all were not fit in the weekend or have picked up knocks or are suspended.

Who should play in defense then? I guess they will go 3 at the back again, with McTominay, Jones and Matic. Dalot taking up one wingback, and perhaps Valencia the other, if fit.

With Laca back Auba could go back to the wing

      1. Stat Sloth
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 days ago

Or they could play 3-4-1-2 as they did after Ramsey and Laca entered the field, with Laca and Auba as forwards and Ramsey in the hole.

Auba has been just as threatening if not more on the wing cutting in than being the out-and-out striker

It's a fluid system anway so he moves into central positions and swaps with laca

        1. Stat Sloth
          • 10 Years
          7 years, 4 days ago

True story. There is a reason why Auba is the most scoring FPL forward at the moment, even though he played a winger in half of the games.

    4. joeydelucchi
      • 8 Years

ive wanted Auba from the start, whilst scoutcast complaining about underlying stats and lack of shots from auba, all that tells me is how much more clinical and a better striker than Kane is. Doesnt need as many shots as Kane.

      1. Stat Sloth
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 days ago

Look at shots in the box. The numbers are about identical. However, if you look at what type of shots they are, half of Kane's are headers, while only one from Auba is. Everyone know how much harder it is to score on headers than when you shoot from inside the box. (Perhaps except for limited defenders like Skrtel or Yerry Mina)

This week's captain video was a litany of misrepresentation, selection bias and mental gymnastics.

Don't get me wrong, as a non Kane owner I'm getting behind the sofa, because I know what he CAN do.

      1. Stat Sloth
        • 10 Years
        7 years, 4 days ago

Sure thing. This GW Kane might get a mega haul, and Auba might only get one return. However, if you look at the four-five next GWS it is not as clear cut imo.

Yup. That is why I transfered in Auba two days ago. But, to be honest, it was also because I need the cash to strengthen my bench players for the festive season ^^

Because last week, there wasn’t a clear cut captain choice so the vote was split. There are far more obvious picks this week. Didn’t help his case that he isn’t in the most prolific form either.

Bit punt-esque this week, despite probably being template moves.

    Hazard -> F. Anderson.
    Aguero -> Kane.

Feel like both Hazard and Aguero will be having their minutes managed this week - 60/65 tops, then they play each other which could be a low FPL-scoring affair.

Got money in the bank to get any City Mids I want for GW17, or even get Aguero back if needed. Fingers crossed and good luck everyone.

Thoughts on Hazard and Wilson -----> Kane (C) and Pedro (-4) ?

Not a bad shout at all, they have some great fixtures and are performing well..
Sterling, Kane , auba seem to be the most common picks, along with the must haves which imo are 3-4 full backs such as Awb, Alonso and robbo, taa

Have already used my 2FT to bring in Wilson for Vardy and Richarlison for Hojbjerg.

Have Patricio and Hart as keepers and all the chasing pack in my league (I’m 2nd) as well as my main rival have Fabianski in goal - tempted to bring him in for a 4 point hit.

    Thoughts?

      Team for this GW:

      Patricio
      Laporte Robertson Duffy
Salah (c) Hazard Sterling Richarlison Fraser
      Wilson Arnautovic
      Subs: Hart, Wan-Bissaka, Jimenez, Doherty

I did this and if you are looking to bring him in long term then I think this week is a very good punt for a -4

Sweet, yeah think I’ll do the same - cheers! Figured it’s now or never (aka until Jan wildcard) and I don’t want these two useless keepers while everyone else has Fabianski!

Probably not, every chance Cardiff will score and West Ham possibly without Balbuena too.

Not just a one week punt though, I’m thinking it’s more of a defensive transfer to match the pack around me and ensure I’m covered

Fingers crossed, worst case it sets me back slightly but again at least one less differential for the chasing pack to attack with!

Who would you get out for him, Patricio or Hart? They’re both as bad as each other... thinking Hart purely based on protecting TV as Patricio I got in at 4.5 so can afford nearly 200% drop vs hart already at -30%

Get rid of Hart, I think Pat is due a clean sheet or 2 in the few matches after Chelsea. Especially once I’ve got rid..

You can’t see onto the future though.

The full rule 🙂 is don’t take a hit for a keeper ... because they have the lowest ‘ceiling’ of all positions and you are unlikely to immediately recover the -4, you are therefore better off planning or defering the transfer so that you don’t take a hit

          1. Hits from the Bong
            • 7 Years
            7 years, 4 days ago

Yeah but still, you can’t see into the future with any transfer and the ceiling doesn’t need to be that high, just a clean sheet will do. Not to mention it might make lots of sense in the medium term too.

I would be a lot happier taking a hit to bring in Kane, Kun, Sterling or Salah rather than Fabianski .... surely you can see the point that ‘you don’t take a hit for a keeper’ ? Any way, we all play the game differently so good luck with your strategy 🙂

Yes I’d be happier, but that doesn’t mean a hit for a keeper can’t ever work. I think this community is slightly too risk averse to be honest, although I realise I’m too far the other way. I’m pretty sure whatever option I chose it’ll be the wrong one anyway. GL to you too.

    2) Pick 2 from

    a) Fraser
    b) Dunk
    c) Doherty
    d) Jimenez

Interesting that scoutcast probably 3 weeks in a row including the captaincy pick with Joe and David from yesterday, they continue to say that Palace are an easy game! ...3 clean sheets in a row and generally not conceding many chances i see them up there as one of toughest defences to break down!

    1. MTPockets

Sorry 2 cs in a row, but i just find this the most irritating thing when watching the scoutcast (i enjoy everything else mind you), when Joe makes this Bold statement " Well these are great fixtures!" when a top 6 team is playing someone like Palace Bournemouth and Watford....you just dont know in this league, i feel like he follows the ticker far too much as opposed to bringing it up-to-date with who is actually performing well now. the only great fixtures i consider are probably burnley and saints and maybe brighton away, even hud and cardiff have tightened up in the last month.

        Yeah they're just wrong.

Their lowly position is because of their horrendous fixtures not because of a lack of quality especially not defensives.

That and BRI do not look great offensively. 23 attempts in the box in the last four, which is the fourth worse in the league. BRI also have the third worse minutes per chance in the last four.
