While Mohamed Salah has dominated the Fantasy Premier League talking points this week, there are still plenty of differentials worth considering.

We’ve gone in search of assets owned by fewer than 5% of Fantasy managers once again.

Gameweek 17 sees us turn to Wolves, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Diogo Jota

Price: £5.9m

Ownership: 1.0%

After a tricky start to life in the Premier League, Wolves’ top-scorer from their Championship winning season appears to have found his feet.

Diogo Jota (£5.9m) has re-established himself in the first XI having started the last two matches, recording two goals and one assist across them.

Crucially, he has maintained a 100% shot accuracy in that time and this week goes up against the Bournemouth defence which propelled Mohamed Salah to a hat-trick in Gameweek 16.

The Cherries still sit bottom of the pile for shots allowed in the box over the previous four Gameweeks, so Jota should have plenty of opportunities to continue his run of form.

Robert Snodgrass

Price: £5.3m

Ownership: 1.2%

West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass (£5.3m) continues to offer great potential as a differential.

The Hammers’ fixtures continue to look appealing over the Christmas period, especially a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.

The Cottagers are still leaking chances and goals at the back even since Claudio Ranieri took over, presenting a great opportunity for the Hammers to score three goals for the fourth match in a row.

At the heart of their recent form has been Snodgrass, who now has three assists and a goal in his last three matches.

That form looks set to continue with the Scottish international’s imprssive underlying statistics.

He is the chief creator for West Ham with none of his colleagues even close to his number of chances created in the last four Gameweeks. In fact, his total is just one fewer than Eden Hazard during that time.

Andros Townsend

Price: £5.7m

Ownership: 2.0%

With Wilfried Zaha suspended for Gameweek 17, there will be more of an onus on Andros Townsend (£5.7m) to be the central attacking threat for Crystal Palace.

The midfielder has been deployed in a forward’s role for much of 2018/19 already so he should be relatively comfortable with that mantle.

There are still encouraging underlying statistics for Townsend in the last four Gameweeks too.

He has been offering the potential for a spread of attacking returns, his chances created also one fewer than Hazard (like Snodgrass), and eight shots on goal too.

Townsend’s last match at Selhurst Park yielded a goal and assist so he will be hoping to replicate that when Leicester City visit this weekend.

    TAA to Luiz done
no pool player now and a little scared but long term plan is in order.

Ideally wanted trippier but injury and rotation pushed him out now,i'll probably think of getting Lloris later

Good transfer. Perhaps look at Mane in due course. But with rotation and tough games no pressing need to buy Liverpool assets except the £13m one. Even he isn’t essential imo until January

If he starts putting away a few of the chances hes getting, he'll clean up but I wouldn't be getting him in now, just because of fixtures.

United, City, Arsenal and Wolves away in the next 5? I wouldn't call that good, but thats not to say he wont get points in them games. I just think there are better options at the minute

    2. joeydelucchi
      • 9 Years

Definitely , doesnt score for a number of weeks and people that dont watch the pool games say hes no longer a decent option...if you watched the games youd know how unlucky hes been at least on 2-3 occasions he would usually score and then would still be considered, still looks extremely dangerous in a liverpool team that is looking to peak at the right time.

I am chasing always players who find them in scoring positions and who arent dropped if they miss those chances for couple of weeks. So I am definitely afraid of watching the first full game this season without Mane.

A comparison of Salahs 2 premier league seasons:

    Last season:
    Aug: 2 goals 3 games
    Sep: 2 goals 3 games
    Oct: 1 goal 4 games
    Nov: 7 goals 4 games
    Dec: 5 goals 7 games
    Jan: 2 goals 3 games
    Feb: 4 goals 3 games
    Mar: 6 goals 4 games
    April: 2 goals 3 games
    May: 1 goal 2 games

    Total: 32 goals 36 games

    This season
    Aug: 2 goals 3 games
    Sep: 1 goal 4 games
    Oct: 2 goals 3 games
    Nov: 2 goals 3 games
    Dec: 3 goals 3 games *

    Total: 10 goals 16 games

It is interesting to note that even in his record breaking season salah was a slow starter at 5 goals 10 games after 3 months. The exact same record was repeated this season after ten games which had many writing him off as a one season wonder???????

He then went on a tear which saw him score 27 goals in 26 games. This season he has 5 goals in 6 games over nov and dec so far and most would agree that he is starting to hit the form of last season. Is it possible that we are about to witness a repeat of the previous pattern? Salah is a confidence player who likes playing games in bunches where defences tire a little more easily because of fixture congestion. He is already fpl top scorer and has only just got going. Are salahless teams about to slide down the rankings? As a Liverpool fan and salah season keeper owner, i hope so.

    1. MTPockets

In points terms he's 111 vs 124 this time last season

If I owned him, I'd be feeling very happy (and lucky 😀 ) that he's returned to form, based on the eye test. Seems more confident in the last few games. Previously, he looked woefully confused about what to do when near the goal, caught between under- and over-simplifying things.

That said, it's not worth the transfers, hit(s) and losing out of my current players' points to bring him in, especially with the fixtures not being great.

WC draft. Any thoughts? Any changes? Much appreciated!

    Fab (Button)
    Robbo, Kola, Doherty (AWB, Bednarek)
    Sterling, Sané, Anderson, Hazard, Fraser
    Kane, Wilson (Kamara)

Maybe Kola, Sane, Kam > Luiz, Bilva, Jimenez? Just Kola, Sane > Luiz, Son?

I do worry about Kola's returns in that crocked defence but I suppose he's got attacking potential. I always think of clean sheets as the bread and butter

    A) Chances of Sane starting?
    B) Chances of Sterling starting?

Ultimately, nobody knows. But I think they'll both start. Sane less likely.
