As the creator of Fantasy Football Scout, Mark Sutherns is one of Fantasy Premier League’s most well-known managers.

In our latest Meet the Manager video, Mark drops by to give an insight into his strategies for success over an impressive FPL career that started in 2006/07. Since then he has achieved eight top 5,000 finishes, including four in the top 500 and one in the top 50.

The search for value has been key to his success over the years, as he hunts out players that he believes will rocket in price in the future and also deliver strong points returns.

He also discusses how the fear of missing out on a player because he is £0.1m short drives this bargain-hunting ethos as well as the occasional early transfer.

As the man that brought Opta data to this site, his admission of being ‘a stats man’ is something of an understatement. Here he offers advice on the best statistics to keep an eye on and why such in-depth analysis can be a vital weapon in Fantasy managers’ armoury.

In our 50-minute chat, he also explains why ‘the eye-test’ should be treated with caution and also how he has learned from his mistakes over the years. This was particularly the case between 2013/14 and 2014/15 when he followed up his worst ever finish with his best, when he reached 42nd in the world.

Dealing with the pressure of making transfers in the public gaze is another issue covered. He also discusses how stepping back from the limelight this season has given him a new lease of life as a Fantasy manager.

The chat with Mark is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

Can Liverpool really get another 12 clean sheets this season and can Man Utd really only finish with 2 more? Is the Liverpool double up finished? Time for super Phil Jones?

I’d say they’ll get 22-24 cleansheets and possibly even break the record.

I’d also say they’ll win the league with 3 games to spare and won’t keep CS’s in their last 4 or 5 games.

So 10-ish CS’s in their next 15 games

Pool will keep lot's of CS.

I didn’t understand Marks point on Patricio at all when illustrating early transfers...

He went to 4.6, then back to 4.5, so nothing lost or gained from a transfer value perspective....

    What am I missing?

Didn’t he go down to 4.4? Then back up to 4.5?

      (Haven’t watched the vid)

If that had happened it would make sense, but I’m 99% sure Patricio was never 4.4... if he was then false alarm, nothing to see here. There’s no record of 4.4 on FISO though, so confused.

Ah no you are right. Looked this morning at the side bar - thought he went up from 4.4 to 4.5 on 30/12. He went down from 4.6.

I made an almighty cock up with my Wildcard keepers a few months back, finally biting me hard now. Both now non playing (Hart and Bettinelli).

Would you take a -4 for any keeper this week or just do it for free next week? Not sure its worth the hit to be honest as can't see many cleans.

Other captain options have been doing better recently, he had one shot last game outside the box and scored, no penalty area touches. This could be putting people off. I personally can't see why he won't do well against Cardiff.

Are FPL lieing to people when they say that Doherty and Otto have similar attacking threat?

These numbers absolutely suggest they are, even accounting for minutes played! Doherty 22 inside the box shots, for example, vs Otto on 7

I don't think they are *lying. Numbers can be skewed to support any argument. It's always best to do your own research and end with your own independent conclusion.
