The Premier League have announced there will be two Manchester City and Everton fixtures in a Double Gameweek 25.

The two clubs’ postponed fixture from Gameweek 27, caused by City’s commitment to the League Cup final, has been brought forward to sit in the round of matches after the next one.

Everton will host Pep Guardiola’s men on Wednesday 6 February.

Manchester City’s combination of Arsenal (home) and Everton (away) is perhaps not quite as exciting as if Chelsea had been handed a Double Gameweek 25, but still offers them a chance for plenty of attacking returns.

However, it will be hard to pick out the key players who will start both of them given Pep Guardiola’s selection policy during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Not only will the turnaround time between the Arsenal and Everton matches be short, just four days after the trip to Goodison Park comes an important Sunday afternoon meeting with Chelsea in Gameweek 26.

Perhaps the only players likely to play both matches in Double Gameweek 25 for Manchester City are Ederson (£5.6m) and Aymeric Laporte (£5.9m), with plenty of options to rotate others around them.

Everton’s doubles don’t offer the same level of potential with Wolves their opponents already scheduled for that Gameweek.

Crucially, with Double Gameweek clubs then having a Blank in Gameweek 27, there will have to be careful management from Fantasy managers. They may want to stock up on Double Gameweek players for Gameweek 25, but they will be effectively useless in Blank Gameweek 27.

Some of the cheaper options such as Laporte or Lucas Digne (£5.3m) would be easier to bench,  but the likes of Raheem Sterling (£11.3m), Leroy Sané (£9.7m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) being inactive could make fielding a strong XI without taking hits a difficult task.

That particular dilemma could see some managers opt to use the Free Hit chip either in Double Gameweek 25 or Blank Gameweek 27, although it could have a bigger impact when the bigger Blank Gameweeks occur later in the campaign.

Also, Gameweek 25 could be the first time this season that a real opportunity for the deployment of the Triple Captain has presented itself.

Later opportunities to use the chip would include Gameweeks 32 or 35, which are currently expected to be Doubles, although the Bench Boost and Free Hit chips, as well as the second Wildcard, also need to be considered.

With the Bench Boost and Free Hit offering better potential in the bigger Double Gameweeks, and the Triple Captain only capable of affecting one match, the make-up of Double Gameweek 25 would present an appealing case for the chip.

Triple Captain aside, Fantasy managers will have to choose whether they want to use the Doubles to influence their armband decision at all. There will, of course, be the option to stick with the tried and tested, and captain a more reliable player even if they only have one fixture.

Recent standout candidate Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) will be away at West Ham in Gameweek 25, where he scored on his most recent league visit in August 2017. Furthermore, he has six double-figure hauls in his last eight Premier League matches.

    Alli to:

    A) Son (WAT, NEW, LEI, bur)
    B) Siggy (hud, WOL & MCI, wat, blank)
    C) Jota (WHU, eve, NEW, bou )

    DGW likely means Son is overlooked as an option right? Not clear he comes straight back into the first XI vs. Watford next GW given how tired he looked and then people will probably ignore him vs. Newcastle due to City and Everton mids

    Also unrelated but does it seem a bit odd that he only fell 0.2m despite losing 3/4 of owners? He went from 1,035,939 owners to 278,940 and only fell 0.2m. Snodgrass for example has gone from 227,261 owners to 90,758 owners and falls 0.3m in a similar timeframe!

        Wow, just looked at Salah, very odd
        Loses 1.2m owners between GW3 and GW9, falls 0.2m
        Gains 1.0m owners between GW16 and GW24, rises 0.6m!

          Makes sense though. His ownership was high, resulting in a small drop. Then his ownership was low, resulting in a high increase in price.

    Thoughts on this plan?

    Fabianski
    Robbo - Doherty - VVD
    *RICH* - Siggy - Salah (C) - Haz - Pogba
    Jim - Rash

    (Button, Bednarek, AWB, Rondon)

    * GW 24:
    - Rich vs hud ---> Sane vs new

    * GW 25
    - SAVE FT

    * GW 26
    - Siggy vs wat ---> Jota vs NEW
    - Hazard vs mci ---> Son vs LEI

    Meaning that in GW 27, my only blankers would be Button (irrelevant) and Sane - but I'd have cover on my bench because I could play Rondon vs HUD.

    5. stat

      That's not possible.

      Chelsea's fixture which needs to be rearranged is against Brighton.
      Brighton are playing WBA in an FA Cup replay on the 5th of February, which is a day before Everton play Man City, so Chelsea - Brighton can't be in GW 25.

    Sokratis out until the end of February and Kosc needs face surgery. No Bellerin either. Could be a very depleted arsenal defence in GW25.

    It's almost annoying City having a DGW in 25 and not Chelsea. Easiest way to bring in Sane/Sterling is a straight swap from Hazard

    But Chelsea have Huddesfield at home and I'm really not looking forward to jumping back onto Pep's wheel of misfortune.

    1. Jealous Viper

      Exactly. Hazard could easily get a 16 pointer in that game. Probably the best captain option. My worry is i think he will blank the next game against City while sterling may do well

      I don't think he's worth the same price as Sane. Somewhere inbetween Bilva at £7.6m and Sane at £9.7m would seem fair. If he were to fall in price by 1m over the next week, definitely a decent option.

          Not at all. History shows goalkeepers are great options in DGW as they can easily play every game and capable of a solid floor

              Yeah fair enough.

              Worth monitoring outside the DGW. 2 FPL CS in a row. 6 CS in a row in all comps. Stats backing this up, despite opponents being weak.

              You’re very negative against others opinions.

              He could get 4 but he could get 15.

              Maybe if you were less stubborn you’d enjoy the game more and wouldn’t be upset at your current rank. These games give you a great opportunity to rise fast.

    Not sure how to best get City coverage with this lot. Also want to get Rash in and Alonso out.

    Fab (Hamer)
    Alonso - Digne - Doherty - AWB - Schindler
    Haz - Salah - Pogba - Anderson - Camsara
    Jiminez - Rondon - Auba

    0.5 ITB. 2FT this week

    Maybe:
    GW24: Rondon -> Rashford & Alonso -> Bednarek
    GW25: Auba -> Aguero
    GW26: Aguero -> Auba

    Or just forget ripping my team apart when City/ Aguero may get rotated anyway?

    This DGW doesn't really excite me enough to take hits or play any chips. Already have Rich & Digne, will probably just do Auba > Kun as a 1-week punt seeing as I'm not expecting much from Auba at the Etihad.

      Not sure. GW 27 you’ll be playing without a goalkeer unless you transfer Ederson back out.

        Not a fan of Sterling. Sane has been on much better form. Would preferably captain Aguero If I was to use free hit

    City are 28-0 their last six games combined ffs, how are you not all more excited. Yeah i know there were some weak opposition in there but have you seen Arsenal try and defend?

      I understand people are scared of rotation but yes I’m very excited.

      They are capable of putting 5 or 6 past both teams on their day.

      People will bring in Sterling, Sane and Aguero and Bernardo, Gundo, Mahrez, Jesus and KDB will get the points.

          Arsenal and Everton have crap defense I expect them to leak a lot of goals, look at Man Utd 3-1 vs Arsenal lol

    With no City assets for the double gw and unlikely to get any. Goal now is to get to gw 28 in the top 50k. Will be chuffed if that happens
