Six Premier League matches will take place this evening to bring Gameweek 28 to a close.

Two of those fixtures, Arsenal v Bournemouth and Southampton v Fulham, kick off at 19:45 GMT, while Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace v Manchester United, Liverpool v Watford and Manchester City v West Ham United start 15 minutes later.

The headline team news arguably comes from Selhurst Park, where Marcus Rashford is only fit enough for a place on the bench after suffering an ankle injury in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Fred, Diogo Dalot and Alexis Sanchez are handed a start, as Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard miss out.

Palace are again without Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Martin Kelly replacing the injured Mamadou Sakho in Roy Hodgson’s only change.

Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy are among the substitutes for Manchester City as Sergio Aguero is joined by Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez in the hosts’ starting XI for the visit of West Ham United.

There is no Marko Arnautovic in the Hammers’ squad as Andy Carroll gets the nod to lead the line.

Samir Nasri, Ryan Fredericks and Pedro Obiang also start, while 19-year-old full-back Ben Johnson is handed his Premier League debut.

Roberto Firmino has failed to recover from an ankle injury so Divock Origi leads the line for Liverpool. Trent Alexander-Arnold replaces Jordan Henderson in Jurgen Klopp’s only other change, so James Milner moves back into midfield.

Watford are unchanged.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is dropped after the farcical scenes at the end of the EFL Cup final, so Willy Caballero starts in goal.

Marcos Alonso is also recalled, along with Mateo Kovacic and Gonzalo Higuain. Emerson Palmieri, Ross Barkley and Willian make way.

Kieran Trippier, Davinson Sanchez, Erik Lamela and Ben Davies replace Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose for Spurs, as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min lead the line.

Alexandre Lacazette is the premium forward who misses out for Arsenal this time, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns to Unai Emery’s starting XI for the visit of Bournemouth.

Mesut Ozil is also recalled, while Carl Jenkinson gets his first league start for the Gunners since November 2016.

Emery has made six alterations to his line-up in total, with Granit Xhaka, Alex Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Shkodran Mustafi dropping out.

Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal and Matteo Guendouzi are the other players to come in.

Lys Mousset replaces the injured Dominic Solanke up front for the Cherries in Eddie Howe’s only change.

David Brooks is back on the bench for the visitors.

Jack Stephens, Matt Targett and Stuart Armstrong make way for Southampton as Maya Yoshida, Charlie Austin and Ryan Bertrand are handed recalls.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Kevin McDonald replace Jean Michael Seri and Ryan Sessegnon for Fulham.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Jenkinson, Torreira, Guendouzi, Kolasinac, Aubameyang, Özil, Mkhitaryan.

Bournemouth XI: Boruc, Clyne, Mepham, Aké, Smith, Ibe, Gosling, Surman, Fraser, King, Mousset.

Southampton XI: Gunn, Bednarek, Yoshida, Vestergaard, Valery, Hojbjerg, Oriol Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Bertrand, Redmond, Austin.

Fulham XI: Rico, Odoi, Ream, Nordveit, Bryan, Chambers, McDonald, Anguissa, Cairney, Babel, Mitrovic.

Chelsea XI: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pedro, Higuain, Hazard.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Kane.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Ward, Tomkins, Kelly, van Aanholt, Milivojevic, Schlupp, McArthur, Townsend, Zaha, Batshuayi.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelöf, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Dalot, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner, Mane, Salah, Origi.

Watford XI: Foster, Janmaat, Mariappa, Cathcart, Masina, Doucoure, Capoue, Hughes, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Deeney.

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sane, Aguero.

West Ham United XI: Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Ogbonna, Johnson, Obiang, Rice, Antonio, Nasri, Felipe Anderson, Carroll.

I was hoping the removal of his injured flag would mean the 'algorithm' would let him fall. He was sitting on -191% at 1am.
Serves me right for ditching to avoid the fall I suppose.

Can't complain, sitting very happily in the top 5k. Though I was a bit disappointed when I woke up and checked the scores (I'm in the same time zone as you now I believe) to see that Liverpool and Arsenal scored 10 goals between them, but with a combined 2 attacking contributions from Salah, Lacazette and Kolasinac.

Yeah this was very disappointing as an owner of the same 3 players. It's tough when the game itself goes the way you predict and plan for, but the individual assets don't get the points. Things were looking decent for me with Mane at least, but even then he got surpassed by all the defenders and his BAPS were stolen.

If it makes you feel any better mate I've just thrown the original plan out the window and taken a -8 for this GW as well.

It's half with a view to BGW31 and half to capitalise on what might be two absolute thrashings by Man City and Chelsea. It looks risky on paper (and unlikely to get much approval around these parts) but all 3 players I've taken out will blank soon, and I've essentially taken my hits now rather than in 2 GWs time.

Lacazette - Son - Pogba > Higuain - Sterling (C) - H. Barnes. May not pay off immediately, but I'm reasonably confident by the end of GW33 I'll look back at the previous 5 GWs combined and be happy with these moves. But it's FPL, anything can happen.

Couldn't help myself. It was one of those situations where if you asked me which 3 players in any position I want for the next 2 GWs based on fixtures and overall gut feeling, I would have said Sterling, Higuain and Barnes. So then of course I had to take a cheeky look at how they would work, and it worked perfectly (or disastrously, we'll see after the weekend). It now leaves me with 1.2m itb to upgrade AWB to any Leicester defender in GW30 for Fulham and the blanks. Then Sterling to Hazard in BGW31 and I've pretty much sorted my team out for the blanks, with the option to turn either Jimenez into a budget striker for a -4. My last -8 paid off massively so fingers crossed!

High risk move as you know but GL!
I did Eriksen/Trippier/Pereira to Hazard/Luiz/Lascelles. Spurs could come back strong v ARS so taking a risk too!

Definitely high risk but I feel slightly less so when you consider the fact the transfers would have been made at some point soon for me regardless. So I'm a bit ahead of schedule, the fixtures are juicy on paper, and 8 points feels like a fair price to me.

I've only taken one hit this season. Would like to play more maverick though to bridge that gap into top 1k. Just not sure how 🙂

Haha, I guess it was a bit of a humble brag, but I genuinely think that I need to take more hits to make it further.

Yeah, was just kidding, I like how Mark makes his maverick moves at key times, guess a lot of it is gut and experience and what Minus Four talked about below! GL

For me there are times where it just feels right. It's hard to explain, but it's kind of a perfect storm of fixtures, budget and a gut feeling that makes me pull the trigger. I go multiple GWs not taking any hits and keeping it pretty simple, then bam I've taken a -8 in a heartbeat haha.

...actually had taken a lot more hits by this stage two seasons ago when I finishd top 5k! I play the game for fun and OR, never worry about mini-leagues or consolidating my position very much.

You're in a great position, but yes I'd say if top 1k is your goal then you will need to mix things up a little. Don't go crazy, but a few calculated risks could be the way forward. However, if top 10k was your goal I think you could get there just by playing safe and solid and using your chips well.

Well if you want my advice, the best way to take hits is to take them potentially explosive options with great immediate fixtures including a new captain. That's how you can get them to pay dividends. Hits for things like a Leicester defender as a differential are not the answer, but hits that get you a Man City captain versus Bournemouth plus another cheaper differential player you really like the look of, they can work out well. If you're going to take a hit or two, make it worthwhile and go for the big guns!

Yes, I agree. There are several cases this season where I thought about taking a hit for a captain (to get rid of Hazard and later Auba), but hesitated. Watching some of the Meet the Manager really showed me that hits are needed much more than I've been willing to do.

The thing with hits that gets ignored a lot is that you don't necessarily need to make back the 4 points straight away (although many times you will). By getting in the player you want sooner rather than later, you're then free to make other transfers over the following GWs and this in turns helps you stay ahead of the curve as much as possible. In a sense you can keep getting closer and closer to your ideal team rather than patiently waiting transfer by transfer. At the same time, if you heavily target fixtures, it's very possible to wipe out the -4 and make gains immediately.

An example I can think of this season was taking a -4 to get Son way back when he was just about to go on his incredible run. The GW I got him he actually blanked and it was disappointing, then he could not stop scoring for weeks and the hit was quickly forgotten.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense. I've just always played the game very hits averse. Probably also because it used be enough to win me my MLs.. not any more though. I can see, also from your current season, that hits are needed to break the mould and hit those big cap scores. Will try and change my strategy a bit. Cheers.

Recovering from knee surgery for the past couple of weeks so my OR has plummeted from 5k to 50k... what are people with WC + 3 chips doing? I have no hope of fielding a full team in week 31 and want to use TC/BB on the DGWs

        Ha, no kidding.

On second thought, I can field 10 in 31 with a single hit. WC for DGW 32 means I'm stuck using my BB in 35 and punting my TC in the last couple of weeks

Hey all. What’s the thinking? 2FT 3.4 ITB (FH in 32)

    Fabianski Boruc
    Robertson Doherty Pereira Bednarek AWB*
    Salah Son Pogba Anderson Camarasa*
    Auba Jimenez Rashford*

    Couple of potential options:
    A) Auba —> Aguero, leaving 2.6 ITB
    B) Auba Son —> Aguero Mane leaving 1.6 ITB
    C) AWB —> TAA/VVD
    D) Anything else

Whole load of things that could be done. Tempted to keep Son for next 2, though means going w/o Haz/Mane til at least GW31, if I go that route.

Aguero worth getting in for the next two especially? Will he play both?

This kinda thing is down to your own instinct/research imo. No one can really tell you whether forgoing Chelsea assets will help or hinder your progress. Which one suits your chip strategy best? If you don't need Aguero, then perhaps go for Chelsea and Pool assets instead, but don't be cursing me if it goes wrong 😉

Higuain likely to have a double GW32, but otherwise Vardy has decent fixtures + new attacking manager and may be worth the small saving.

Same. I already bought mine: Hig, Haz & Kante. Actually, I reckong I can get up to 10 players out in GW31, 33 and 10 DGWs in GW32 without using the FH, injury depending, thanks in part to Chelsea. They allow me to make the decision in GW32, anyway, so I seem them as a blessing, though I could be cursing them come GW34.

I originally wanted 2 defenders, Luiz and Azpi, but needed to save money in midfield. I see Kante involved in attacks and he could easily get attacking returns at some point. Defenders are a safer route to points, though. Maximum is even bigging up Alonso again!

Very possible, but you may need to have various building blocks already in place. And then it depends on the actual fixtures, but you can decide what to do in GW32.

        Right! Right?

Because, what I really want to do is get Sterling in. And I don't want Chelsea players in my team. Just feels like getting into a right tangle for 31, one gameweek (we don't know what 33 looks like yet) which never goes well/to plan.
