Gk. Martial downgrade maybe with Kepa in goal. Or maybe Guiata, Luiz to Kepa, Holebas. Would say Lindelof but you have triple united

.8 ITB ... could upgrade Guaita to Foster ...gonna risk Martial as reports suggest Lukaku out for 2 more gw... with Matic/Herrera back I expect Pogba returns

Instead of asking yourself this question: "Will a City/Chelsea mid outscore a City/Chelsea keeper or defender by enough points to justify investing more in attack?"

... Ask yourself this question: "Will a City/Chelsea keeper or defender outscore an alternative keeper or defender by enough points to justify not having an extra City/Chelsea attacking player?"

I'm seeing so much talk about how Ederson is the better pick for 3rd City player because he'll score 8-12 points. But isn't DDG a strong chance of scoring 8-12 points too? He makes more saves and gets more bonus points. If you believe these two are quite likely to roughly cancel each other out, and that say Azpilicueta can cancel out Laporte, etc, then you can actually take your punt on Dilva / Bilva / Sane without freaking out about not having a City keeper or defender. Expecting 8-12 points from a defensive option is not reason alone to ignore attacking double ups and triple ups. You also have to factor in the value of other defensive options that you won't be picking, and the sacrifices you then have to make up front (e.g. having Mili and hoping for a pen when you could have Dilva vs Fulham and possibly Cardiff as well).

Defensive assets are only the 'safer' pick if they actually keep clean sheets. If they don't keep CS but Duffy and Schlupp score well, and the likes of Dilva and Higuain get 2-3 attacking returns over the 2 super easy fixtures, it will seem obvious in hindsight.

good point, some posts here act as if ederson/city def is the only one capable of a cs. Best odds yes but not guaranteed

Exactly. And also they won't be scoring 12 points more than other options even if they do get 2 CS. They'll be scoring 12 minus whatever the alternative was. A lot of defenders could end up on similar totals. But explosive attacking options are few and far between, and those fixtures!

that's my thinking bud, punting on higuain and sane, what do you think?

      ryan
      lindelof - luiz - schlupp
      sterling(c) - sane - pogba - hazard
      aguero - higuain - rashford

I like it. I'm going Dilva as Sane is too big a risk even for me (purely the minutes - if I knew he would play even 110 minutes total, I'd pick him). Team looks good.

Sure, they're only safer if they actually keep clean sheets, but they're very, very likely to keep clean sheets!

Having said that I'm going cheap on defence because when can I take risks if not for one week only with no consequences?

Yep and other teams can keep clean sheets too. And other GKs can get more save points. And other defenders can get more attacking returns.

It makes perfect sense and for me City triple attack has been a no-brainer all week! Chelsea however if far trickier as there is Hazard and the a bunch of attacking misfits to deal with 😉

I don't expect Chelsea to keep 2 CS. I've got Azpi, but a defensive double up doesn't interest. I don't get why people are excited about it. Higuain all the way, he's been in my team right from the start.

    Kepa
    DLuiz Rudiger Lindelof Schlupp
    Sterling Sane Martial
    Aguero Kane Deeney

Playing catch up so purposely trying to be maverick. Is it just stupid though?

Not bad as an alternative, obviously a lot riding on Chelsea defensively. I'd worry about Sane and Deeney minutes too.

Anyone tempted to buy Alli? Don't have any Spurs player so looking to fit in someone. Kane is too expensive for me.
Budget for mid is 8.4 but I could strech to 8.8 and get Alli.
