Felipe Anderson (£7.1m) misses out on a place in the matchday squad for West Ham in the final match of Saturday’s action.

Everton’s visit to the London Stadium has gone largely unnoticed by those playing the Free Hit chip in Double Gameweek 32, but it may still have an effect for those who had Hammers and Toffees in their squads for the Blank Gameweeks perhaps.

Anderson was a widely-owned asset for the last round of matches but is out with a ‘minor ankle knock’ according to the club’s official Twitter.

That sees Robert Snodgrass (£5.0m) return to the starting line-up, while Lucas Pérez (£6.1m) also gets a rare inclusion in the first XI.

The former Arsenal man’s inclusion comes after Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (£6.1m) was named on the bench.

Pérez features alongside Marko Arnautovic (£6.9m), who has now strung two starts together in a row for the first time since Gameweek 22.

Manuel Lanzini (£6.4m) continues to hold his place in midfield while club captain Mark Noble (£4.8m) and Michail Antonio (£6.8m) drop to the bench.

Everton have arrived in London with a much expected side.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.3m) leads the attack with Richarlison (£6.5m), Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.3m) and Bernard (£5.9m) supporting him.

West Ham XI: Fabianski; Zabaleta, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice; Snodgrass, Obiang, Lanzini, Arnautovic; L Pérez.

Everton XI: Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Zouma, Digne; Gueye, André Gomes; Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Bernard; Calvert-Lewin.

How does Alisson & Anderson - > Kepa & Mane (-4) look for next week? Need to lose Alisson to free a Pool spot

      WC in GW 34.

Have 11 players for GW 33.
Felipe Anderson is the 12th player.
He might fall in price tonight.

Thinking of effectively saving/gaining 0.2 for the WC.

Who is most likely to double rise?

      A) Tielemans : Currently on 88.7
      B) Milivojevic : Currently on 101.1

I think it's wise not to get too caught up in scoreboard journalism when criticising your own (or others') decisions.

Take Bilva, for example. Prior to today he had returned a grand total of one assist in his last nine PL games. His underlying stats were also inferior to those of other options we were all considering. Favouring other players over him may well have been entirely correct, it just didn't pay off in this particular GW.

When we pick one player over another it's not because we're certain they'll do better, it's because we think they're likely to do better. It's possible for us to figure out that X will be better than Y nine times out of ten but that doesn't mean this won't be the 1/10 gameweek where the right call doesn't pay off. Given most calls are probably closer to 60/40, it's no surprise that we can often see our best made plans come to naught.

Better to critique your decision making process rather than the decisions themselves. If your process is good (based on sound information and rational choice selection) then over the long run it will bring you success, even if this one given GW is a let down. Conversely, if your process is bad then one good DGW will only ever help you so much.

So instead of complaining about (or glorying in) the results of your last minute decision to swap from one player to another, maybe first ask yourself whether whatever caused you to make that decision is something you should actually let yourself be influenced by in the first place.

Unfortunately people will read this and then go right back to looking at decisions through the lens of short term outcomes.

      2. TheDragon
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 11 months ago

In summary ‘results oriented thinking is silly’ / you can only influence decisions not results - completely agree!

It’s like in poker, if you get it all in with AA against JJ you are an 80% favourite. You’d make that play every time and be happy. Just because a J comes out and you lose doesn’t mean you made a bad decision.

It’s the only way to win long term ( just like in FPL the people who make the best DECISIOND the most often do the best in the long run).

Of course we as good FPL players should embrace the ‘luck/results elenent’ The fact a ‘bad pick’ sometimes scores 15 points is what keeps the ‘casuals’ interested’

as you say b silva done nothing, logic told me dont get him
hindsight is a great thing, that includes me !
went for what i thought was best
i take your point, as i have criticised my own picks, (not others)
good luck to those who made the right picks
best of luck for rest of the gw

I agree with all of this.
Re Bilva, he's playing on RW for Man City. That's enough for me to get him tbh

I TC Sane in gw 25 & exactly that gw Bilva started on RW and still playing there. So it's bit of justice for me i think 🙂

I'm really thinking about getting him in WC gw 34 team now.
Always better to punt on a man City attacker instead of Other same priced player's i guess.

So true. Just because a decision paid off doesn't necessarily make it a good decision, and just because a decision didn't pay off doesn't mean it was a bad decision. We're playing with probabilities

The problem is that even I(?) don't always follow my decision making policy. There may also be something that has gone unnoticed. So it is very difficult to use eye test and advanced decision making process.

I’m not sure which part of this people don’t understand.

I think it’s partly due to the fact that for many the “right decision” is the one that brings most points in the future. Which is very different from the one that was most likely to score the highest.

Early days and all that, but Shaw and Felipe to Fraser and Azpi would give me:

      Hamer (Flappy)
      TAA Azpi Pereira (Diop Bennett)
      Salah Mane Haz Brooks Fraser
      Rondon Vardy (Rash)

Could also do Rash to Wilson instead of Felipe to Fraser, but would mean losing 0,3m on Rash.

      Pretty decent ehh?.
