Fantasy Premier League managers may have a tough decision when considering Wolves’ attacking options in 2018/19.

A price hike for Raúl Jiménez (£7.5m) has put clear daylight between him and colleague Diogo Jota (£6.5m).

Despite the latter’s switch from midfield to the forward department, his offer of a £1.0m saving is certainly enticing.

In this latest members article, requested by readers on site and social media, we will compare Wolves’ two central strikers to assess which is the better option for our Fantasy teams.

As this uses data taken from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for 2019/20 can access the bulk of the article.

Selecting the right period for comparison

Wolves changed their formation to a 3-5-2 in Gameweek 15.

On the surface, it’s hard to look past Jiménez given that he outscored Jota across the 2018/19 season.

The Mexican recorded a final total of 181 points compared his Portuguese colleague’s 139.

That is probably why Jiménez is, by a long way, the more popular of the two following the release of the 2019/20 game.

In fact, currently sat in 42.7% the former Benfica man is the most fashionable asset in any position.

Obviously, his price means that auto-pick selections will still be influencing that figure, and it has dropped slightly from the 43.5% he was at on July 5.

However, to suggest either his 2018/19 score or early 2019/20 popularity are cause to back Jiménez over Jota would be somewhat naïve.

    Who can cover the best?

    A) Maddison for Vardy

    B) KDB to Sterling

Probably A, but cover is a dubious concept

Its dubious but also I can't hate it as much as others do. When city run riot and KDB is fit and on form he generally scores well just from assists.

Probably not, his minutes are too uncertain. West Ham have Rice, Sanchez, Wilshere, Noble, Snodgrass, Lanzini and Fornals all competing for 3 midfield slots, feel like there could be a bit of rotation there

Are we going VORP here? I guess it depends how you value the premium points inc cap Sterling offers over KDB and whether you can match or better it with the 2.5m? I'm waiting for a good VORP post, it will be a HT.

I would be equally as comfortable captaining KDB at home as Sterling at home and equally as reluctant as captaining KDB away from home as Sterling away from home.

People have compared points return of KDB to Sterling.
But nearer his price bracket, how does KDB compare to Pogba, Ali, Son & Erikson?

Value Over Replacement Player = VORP (so, basically the league's nameless dude's "avg" stats and value - a guy who comes off the bench into a starting role - think of them as "below average run of the mill" replacements. They don't score much, so they serve as a good low baseline to start from.

        Impossible, unfortunately.

Like the spread of teams at the back - something I'll almost certainly be replicating. I'd have Robbo and Coleman though on your set up unless Everton buy a striker who can finish chances.

Doucoure Yarma an interesting call. Got me thinking

Mates, which trio you think will score more in first GWs?

    A) Robertson, Walker, Fraser

    B) VVD, Diop, KDB

    Thanks all!

Just logged in and done a quick draft. Seems much tougher than last year.
How does this "toothless in attack" team look? Would you downgrade Ederson/Digne to upgrade Ings?

    Ederson (Button)
    Trent Robertson Digne Catchart (Diop)
    Sterling Mane Eriksen Maddison (Hayden)
    King Ings (Gallagher)

Not sure if I'd be comfortable captaining Sterling / Mané each week, but then again, perhaps I should be after their last two seasons.

Think Mane alone is good enough for GW1-5 with Liverpool's fixtures - more than enough transfers in between to plan for later

Btw is anyone considering Grealish? Very good fixtures after GW1

Depends on who you upgrade Ings to. Ederson is going to be about 40 points head of a 4.5 Keeper. Whomever you upgrade should be set to perform 40 points better than the replacement.

So that means Ings to Jimenez (90 points difference last year)

    RMT?

    Alisson
    Robertson - Mendy - Trippier
    B.Silva - Moutinho - Salah - Pérez
    King - Aguero - Jiménez

    Subs: Button, Dunk, Kelly, Hayden

I'd go cheaper on Alisson maybe, and upgrade Moutinho? Good spread of funds though. Nice.

Alright lads. Funny old prices this year. Seems to be a couple of premiums then everyone else is mid-priced.

    How's this look?

    Pope
    Digne - Mendy - Robertson
    KdB - Moura - Salah - Perez
    King - Kane - DCL

    4m - Jorginho - Kelly - 4m

    1. The 5% Team
      • 8 Years

Mendy is a very big risk

not a fan of DCL, would downgrade him to 4.5 fodder and upgrade Jorginho or Kelly to a starting player

Yep, I'm not comfortable with DCL but may be tempted to punt with him given Everton's opening run of 8 or so fixtures.

Mendy can easily become Walker or Laporte with an extra 0.5m. But I think he'll be back in favour this season and everyone will get him.

Not sure about Pope (Is he first choice?), Mendy (far from nailed), Moura (not with that bench), Perez (new team)
More than 1 Everton always ends in tears no matter the fixtures (I'm biased here tho)

Son isn't available for the first couple of games (suspended), so Moura looks a great shout. An extra 0.5m for B.Silva is tempting though.

Pope likely to be first choice for Burnley, yep. Heaton rumoured to be leaving.

Mendy can become Walker if he's not starting pre-season games.

Perez is a punt for now, might revisit that.

Agree on Everton 😀 thanks for the feedback!

Keep an eye on the Pope/Heaton situation at Burnley. Heaton might be off to Aston Villa.

Id be tempted to squeeze 0.5 from Maddison to get Robbo. If you go big at the back it seems a shame to take half measures!

KDB/Fraser/2.5m > Sterling/Perez but you will need a bench starter, the problem with a free bench 3-5-2 I'm afraid. Maybe Gibson if he or Tarks moves, and maybe Wickham is fit for once so may get time.
