The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked here, meeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

Considering his pre season lineups so far, I will be extremely annoyed if Emery starts rotating when the real deal starts. Laca in my team.

    Two Questions for you

Which double up do you prefer

    Bournemouth (Fraser & Wilson)
    Leicester (Vardy & Perez)

    &

Who is the best two week punt (GWs 1 and 2 only)

    Origi
    Calvert-Lewin

Any ideas would be welcomed and appreciated

    1. Wilson & Pérez?

You have got them right there. Moura for a bit longer.

      Origi

I don't like a double on either team, it's easy to have one player from each team

Cheers for advice . Latest draft.
    Thoughts? Out of 10?

    Ryan (Button)
Robertson Zinchenko Coleman Azpi ( Kelly)
    Salah Siggy Sterling Brooks (Dendonker)
    King Vardy (Greenwood)

Looks really good. I'm wondering whether going cheap on Bournemouth is better than Fraser/Wilson. It's such a gamble, but if it works you're off to a great start. Lower ceiling I guess, but I love Brooks as a player. Great skills.

TAA over Robertson though with free kicks, corners. Azpi likes to assist the striker, so I'd avoid for now since Giroud is not scoring and the uncertainty around the striker position in general.

How is this? Plan is to assess after two gameweeks so I can divert funds from Fraser/Wilson.

    Pope/Ryan - Button
TAA - VVD - Zinchenko - Coleman - Kyle Walker Peters
    Salah - Sterling - Siggy - Fraser - Dendocker
    Wilson - Greenwood - Nketia

0.5 in the bank. I could do Ake/Duffy instead of Walker Peters.

It's more the midfield thats causing that, downgrading KWP to 4.0 doesn't give me enough funds to go for a 6.5. Either Fraser or Siggy would have to go too.

    2-1 Saints at h/t Adams & Yoshi.

Saints pressing high up the pitch which resulted in several chances...Conceded just as many though when not winning it back. There easily got at.

    Redmond & JWP stand out

Settled team for 2 whole days now:

    Leno
Van Dijk / Coleman / Alderweireld
Salah / De Bruyne / Fraser / Perez
    Kane / Haller / Ings

    Steklenberg / Diop / Lundsrram /Dendonker

    Only concerns/thoughts now are:
Ings will get injured by GW2 - swap to Adams or Woo or sub-6.0 form
Too early for Haller (wait and see?)
    Alderweireld or other 5.5?
    "Leaky Arsenal"
Ings will get injured by GW2 (swap to Adams or Wood oe sub-6.0 form

      • 7 Years

      Not bad at all

Ings until he breaks is the class of the 6.0 field and better than many 6.5s imo.

Haller? Slightly punty but if he’s on pens very nice. I’d get Fab and Wilson personally

Don’t get Leno. If you don’t like Fab then Lloris for me who would likely match Toby.

      1. Rigid Digit

        Cheers

Leno was a GW1 option (Fab at Man City was a bit of a concern - but "set and forget" probably best, and save the transfer)
Spurs defense should be sound, so Toby might be best option (unless Stones is nailed?)

Fab is almost fixture proof given saves - City isn’t a bad fixture. I certainly wouldn’t be choosing a keeper for one fixture.

Agree on Spurs defence. Just 5.5 is quite a lot to pay for returns only at one end presumably.

      I think it’s inspired.

Bookies giving odds of around 3/1 that United don’t score and 4/6 that Norwich don’t score.

That’s a 8% chance of you getting two clean sheets and everyone who doubled on Liverpool defence do not.

Given huge numbers that will have double Liverpool and none will have double Chelsea, you will have the upper hand on almost everyone else.

It’s a risky strategy mind, but it’s a way of getting ahead of most people.

Not necessarily. I'd just ditch Jorginho for Dendocker I guess. Is he on penalties, otherwise I see no reason to keep Jorginho.

I do wonder if KdB/King is better than Wilson/Siggy, seems like it would be a close call. Maybe wait for KdB to get some form?

Out of the 4.5's he seems to be one of the best options. He is young and gonna play more than last season, has some creative/attacking threat.

Hayden plays for Newcastle who seem to be in crisis, or on the verge of. Stephens gets yellows and isn't great either. Romeu is similar.

          So that's why I guess.

      2. Strchld
        • 9 Years

KdB has been really good in pre season.
Problem is that I have to play 5.0 mid everyweek If I want to keep KdB. He is also a great placeholder to get Son in.

KdB and Jorginho to Bilva and 6.5m mid is an option.

Not sure whether Zouma or Zinchenko would be definitive starters.

Arsenal could well sign Pepe, Tierney, Cebellos, Rugani, Saliba & Martinelli & only spend about 45m upfront this Summer:

    Pepe 14m (x5 year contract = £70m)
    Tierney 25m
    Cebellos Loan
    Rugani Loan
Saliba 27m (will be paid next Summer)
    Martinelli 6m

If these all go through that’s shrewd business

Arsenal aren't doing anything different to other clubs, most transfer fees are paid in installments

Tierney is a good bit of business though

Talk to me about this Wesley chap, please.

Will he + 5.0 def (Zouma?) outscore Jota (Wolves) + 4.5?

Looked quite sharp in pre-season so far.

He'll probably be my punt to start the season. Not much risk at 6m and Villa have nice fixtures after GW1.

Not sure if he'll outscore Jota but I may get both anyway as he's probably the best of the 6.5's.

    Hi all

I'm thinking of entering a team into the Fanteam competition. Anyone else giving it a go and if so, are you relying on similar team/strategy to your FPL entry?

Which player(s) are you all most afraid of not having, who you know will likely not end up in your final starting XI on deadline day?

      Vardy, Kane or Aubam

Sterling - just know he'll score big, but cannot make room in the team with Salah, De Bruyne and Kane

Auba - toss of a coin between him and Kane, but can't ignore Kane's lower price this year

Zaha - if he stays at Palace, I think he'll be a 150+ scorer. If he goes elsewhere, I reckon he'll struggle

With Zaha, I was wondering about the opposite. Will Palace be able to supply him with enough chances? Will he be in a strop about not moving?

      He isn't a starter

No good option at 5m unless you punt on Zouma

Looks fairly template other than the El-Ghazi pick (which I'm not so keen on tbh. Decent enough team overall.
