The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked heremeeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on best Aston Villa options? They’re opening 9 game weeks look very good, think people are being overly put off by their opening fixture (despite them having an OK record against Spurs). Expecting them to get off to a decent start.

Yeah think Wesley and Targett are two good options.

Just don't like Wesley against Spurs.

As with all promoted teams, wait and see.

They're buying a lot of players, gonna take a while to gel.

Plus an openings fixture away at Spurs ain't great.

He’s my differential at the moment as well 3 assists in the last match and can score too. Has some good fixtures to start, looking at switching to yarmolenko possibly if he doesn’t work out.

        Hello mate,
        Pope Norris
        Robbo Taa Coleman Zinchenko Lundstram
        Salah Sterling 5.5m Donkey 4.5m
        Vardy Wilson Deulofeu

        This is my team.
I'm loving all 5attackers other than 5.5m guy for last spot

        What do you think??

        1. WVA
          • 9 Years
          7 years, 1 day ago

I really think you need to downgrade Vardy to Perez/Tielemans or Wilson to King so you can upgrade the midfielder.

            • 7 Years
            7 years, 1 day ago

Really like Vardy & Wilson as two premium (!) Strikers tbh.
            Anyway, I don't like anyone Below 7.5m (Martial/Fraser)

            What do you think then??

I mean 7m Midfielders are boring bar zaha but his fixtures are tricky aren't they

            1. WVA
              • 9 Years
              7 years, 1 day ago

At minimum I'd have Fraser over Wilson, scores more points and is cheaper, allows you a 6m mid instead of 5.5.
I don't think the value of the Leicester mids should be overlooked though.

                7 years, 1 day ago

                Agreed mate.
But all those Midfielders are paying for Vardy to score goals aren't they ??
He scored 10 & assisted 1 in last 11 games i guess. He's almost a premium © Choice against weak teams at hom imo.
Re Fraser & Wilson swap, I haven't even thought about it !! Food for thoughts. Thank you.

If it's Palace Meyer I'd avoid for now. One to monitor.

He's class and could be terrific value but he's not historically a Roy favourite - I'd almost go Schlupp ahead of him. Roy favourite and eye for goal,

I'd go McGinn provided Villa don't buy again but I fear they will. Wilson?

Valid concern imo. Has he even started training yet? The season starts in 12 days for Liverpool!

He won't be match fit. The same applies to some other players around the league. Aguero, Jesus, Willian, Mane and others of whom none are being considered for their FPL teams and yet something like 99% of managers plan on captaining Salah........

The trend for early team selections offers much money spent at the back.

Norwich, Sheffield Utd, and Villa scored goals ‘for fun’ last season, and have all notably added attacking players to their squads. None of the teams are struggling for goals in pre-season so far.

They may indeed concede ‘goals for fun’, but their attacking intent will be far greater than that of Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield from last season.

The Premier League this season, seems set up for more goals and entertainment than ever before, and therefore an end result of far fewer clean sheets.

A "full strength" back 4 of TAA, VVD, Matip and Robbo. Mignolet in goal though.

Henderson, Fabinho and Milner sitting infront of them too...that's all the more defensive mids.

A for me. 2 pen takers and everyone in that batch is nailed on for typically 3000+ minutes this season at least.

The one thing to learn from this friendly is not that Liverpool are going to be bad in any means, if anything it’s the mentality of the opposition playing Liverpool every game, they will all be more pumped to play (and try beat) the holding CL Champions

Liverpool are clearly good enough to do well again next season, however they will have to raise their game a notch as every other team will raise their game a notch vs Liverpool

Hello, 5 premium at the back people... with double or even triple pool defence....

Pool 0-3 Napoli (66 min) with their 1st choice defenders.

There’s also no Firmino, Salah, or Mane.

Yeah I am changing and ripping up this template based on one pre-season game rather that applying the logic of the whole previous season.

Alisson also played a crucial role last season... If not the most crucial role in the team as at the time. So no need to worry...
