The third instalment of the Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup takes place today.

Following the success of the first two competitions in February and November 2018, which featured around 80 players and raised over £2,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and for Campaign Against Living Miserably, this time we’ll be raising money for the Stroke Association.

Most of you will know that Joe, a much-loved member of FFS and the wider Fantasy Football community, recently suffered a bleed on his brain. Thankfully, after a fairly hellish month, he is gradually returning to normal.

The Charity Cup will be held this morning at Whittington Park Astro Pitch in London linked heremeeting at 9:15 am to finalise teams etc.

The full address is Holloway Road, Islington, London N19 4RS. The closest Tube station is Archway on the Northern Line (8min walk) and the closest London Overground station is Upper Holloway (2min walk).

As always, the precise format (including squad sizes) will depend on numbers but everyone will get decent game-time in a 7 or 8 aside format.

This is real-life football (not an FPL online cup!) with players of all ages, fitness and abilities very welcome.

As with previous tournaments, we’ll be organising players into squads, so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to invite guest players to boost the numbers.

If you would like to take part please email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com with your contact details and you will be added to the WhatsApp group for further information (unless you state that you would rather receive information by separate email only).

Even if you are not able to play, please donate to the Stroke Association at the Just Giving page which is linked here.

I’m quite interested in the Auba picks.

        What’s your thought process Jay?

Are your two heavy hitters auba and Salah and does it mean no city attack?

Is Fraser and Wilson overkill ?

    My team :

    Ederson
    TAA VVD Digne Alderweireld
    Salah Sterling Fraser Dendonker
    Wilson Deulofeu

    ----------------------------------------

    Buttone Balbuena Jorginho Greenwood

Obviously id be playig 532 most weeks with Balbuena's good fixtures after city.

I don't think so, when Bournemouth do well both of them fire. I am starting the season with both, with a view to reassessing after the first 2 games.

    3. Galza

I don’t think I’d want to start the season with double Bournemouth attack even with good fixtures.
I’m punting on Martial for 7.5.
10 goals + 4 assists in just over 1600 minutes last season. If he can get a sustained run in the team, which I’m almost convinced he will, then I think 7.5 is decent price...

you could start off wil Fraser for 2 easy fixtures then switch to Martial if hes getting the starts and hopefully centre forward position.... maybe,...

Yeah, you could do, but you’d have to make your change quick cos I can’t see Martial staying at 7.5 for too long. 😉

Hmmm, I like this idea actually.

Relying on 5 defenders is asking for trouble imo. You don't wanna be pissin about making transfers on defenders when they miss a game etc

Of course. Is Alderweirald nailed? He wanted away didn't he?
Apart from him I'd caution against Deulofeu - he got half his goals against Cardiff and Huddersfield last season. Deeney might be better - I'm on Jota alongside Wilson.

It has been the template since the start, but over the weekend Lundstrom has displaced Kelly.

      Donckers will probably start.
Greenwood is an exciting kid - some sub appearances to start with.
Kelly may get a game, may not. Lund may start, may not.

That would be tricky, unbalanced at front and back.

I've been considering this as an option, this was my effort. Not too unbalanced, bit weak at the front but there are some other decent options around that price point (Jota, Ings etc.) that could come in dependent on form/fixtures. I was initially put off my how deep KDB plays but he is still so dangerous even from there and still finds himself in the box for assists or just outside it for shots. If he stays fit, 200+ points guaranteed even with rotation I reckon.

            Pope
            TAA / VDD / Digne / Zinc
            Salah / Sterling / KDB / Perez
            Delo / King

Both is a no for me. I think im taking a punt on debruyne and even captain him sometimes and then just wildcard when he gets injured

    4. Miguel Sanchez
      • 10 Years
      7 years, 1 day ago

I really hate Pep roulette so a KDB benching would hurt less than a Sterling benching. The first GW I would really want to captain Sterling (GW 4 vs BHA) looks about the time rotation could start to hit and Mahrez/Sané start seeing minutes. Am leaning towards KDB now.

    5. Galza
      • 8 Years
      7 years, 1 day ago

I’ve just got rid of Sterling for KDB. Put the money to good use. He will get plenty of points, probably not as many as Sterling, but he can help to upgrade in other departments, where as there is no option to do the same with Salah...

    6. kime67

Sterling is a better option no doubt and will get about 10 more goals but hes so expensive and this year everyone is highly priced

Not alot of 4.5 defenders flying about. Targett seems popular. As does Diop. Kelly and Lundstram are the default 4.0s

There are about 5 6.5 strikers doing the rounds. Pretty obvious who they are if you check last season's points totals. The 6.0s are trickier. W sley has been popular for the last 24-48 hours. Ings pops up now and again. Che Adams perhaps. I've even seen a Billy Sharp or two doing the rounds.

Can someone clever please tell me the effect Pepe will have on Aubameyand and lacazette. Does it mean a return to Laca being benched or will he play Auba LM Laca St Pepe RW.
In which case Auba becomes a bit poo as he is nowhere near as effective as he refuses to take defenders on down the left. Would be a shame resulting in arsenal attack one to avoid again I think 🙁

I foresee plenty of Emery roullette and 45 min substitutions. Ozil, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan all competing for those attacking positions as well. No go zone for me

Mkhi not one to worry about and think ozil will rotate with ceballos for that 10 spot. Iwobi and Laca will rotate I think. Auba and Pepe should be the nailed ones but Auba could spend half his time at LM which I really don’t fancy.

Don't know. Yesterday some suggested Laca CF, Auba on the left and Pepe on the right - good for Laca, not for Auba.

Can be okay if he takes that no10 but will probably only get that in games they need to defend with ozil getting it most of the time. Ceballos will still be nailed but in a deeper box to box role I think so a nice budget pick, maybe one for a GW1BB I should look at. Thing is Laca is never nailed with emery about whilst Auba is

Will probably play Auba a lot on the left, Lacca in the middle and Pepe on the right. He will probably also rotate Lacca and Auba more often, so to me it will be even harder to predict which one of Lacca and Auba that will start, at least before the season.

      1. Ask Yourself
        • 10 Years

Yeah I think Auba is nailed but Laca can lose out to a fast winger like Iwobi or nelson in bigger games

Most likely Pepe RW Laca centre and Auba LW but could also occassionally drop Laca and play Auba through the centre against top teams if we were set up for fast breaks.
Arrival of Pepe makes me wanna start with KDB as 3rd mid rather than with Kane/Auba up front. Pepe couod be gold as 3rd midfielder if he’s 9m or less and starts each game

Until other European competitions kick in it seems Auba on the left and Pepe on the right. Mkhi and Iwobi will be back up on the wings. Not sure if there’s a certain amount of starts Ceballos has to get in his loan deal? But I’d assume Torreira and Xhaka as holding mids with Ozil in the 10 role. Laca is locked to start my season for those fixtures.

This probably won’t go down to well being a 3-4-3 with no bench, but here it is anyway...

    Pope / 4.5?
    Coleman / VVD / Cathcart
    Salah / KDB / Martial / Perez
    Vardy / King / Kane

    4.0 / Dendonk / 4.0 / 4.0

Cathcart will become Fredericks at some point in the near future.

Fingers crossed for some playing 4.0 defenders.

Risky, I know, but if it all clicks together, what do we think...??

I was never quite convinced by how serious Arsenal were - they seemed to do everything not to make it happen. Waiting for the AWB deal to go through seemed bizarre and they never made a semi-serious offer.

Also not really convinced Pepe is necessarily the better option. Could be but there’s quite a lot to be said for players with a PL background. It’s a lot of money for a Ligue 1 hero.

He'll be priced for his points potential. Which is very high. He's your typical fpl type of player. Direct and full of end product. 9 seems about right to me. It will prove to be too high or too low in a year's time but hindsight is 20/20.

I’m with you on that, even if the stats don’t back it up from other leagues. I feel with the Prem being a lot more physical, it may lead to more penalties being awarded.
