There were nine Premier League manager press conferences held on Thursday ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

The headline team news came from Liverpool, where Jurgen Klopp provided fairly positive news on Sadio Mane (£11.5m) ahead of Friday’s encounter with Norwich City.

Klopp said:

Looks fit. Yesterday was his first session with the team. Yesterday now with the team first time, looks absolutely OK, in good spirits. Yes he’s an option, but we will see.

The Reds’ boss said of James Milner (£5.5m):

Millie trained yesterday with the team, 100%. He will be fine.

The Reds opponents have problems at centre-half, with stoppers Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose (£4.5m) sidelined for Gameweek 1.

Defensive midfielders Alex Tettey and Ibrahim Amadou (both £4.5m) are also unavailable for tomorrow’s encounter.

On the subject of newly promoted clubs, Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder revealed a clean bill of health at today’s presser.

Dean Smith only ruled out James Chester (£4.5m), meanwhile, as Villa prepare to take on Spurs.

Robbie Brady (£5.5m) looks set to miss out for Burnley against Southampton, whose manager Ralph Hasenhuttl didn’t disclose any injury concerns.

Gerard Deulofeu (£6.5m) was passed fit by Javi Gracia but Danny Welbeck (£6.0m) won’t be ready to feature against Brighton.

The Seagulls will be without Jose Izquierdo (£5.5m) and Yves Bissouma (£5.0m).

Mark Noble (£5.0m) hasn’t recovered from a dead leg in time to face Manchester City but Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) is fit to face the reigning champions.

We’ll have updates on Friday’s 11 press conferences in advance of the 19:00 BST deadline.

Probably the most dull questions in here, but I feel quite settled elsewhere:
    A) Rico
    B) Lundstram

    1) Greenwood
    2) Wickham

Wickham for less ownership and as long as not expecting either to play every week.

Today’s dealings (or lack of) have pushed me to A1. Sheffield United brining in a new DM and the lack of a replacement for Lukaku.

Thanks for the answers. On A1 at the moment.

I’m on A1 but could really be any of those combos if you’ve no intention of playing them. I’m wary of Greenwood’s ownership though as mentioned before so may change to Wickham.

    KDB and Lamela (to become Barkley/Mount later) in a 4 5 1
    Vs
Wilson and Moura (to become Martial or Barkley/Mount) in a 4 4 2

    Help.

The 4 4 2 seems more balanced (Dendonker vs Wickham on bench), but thats the only way Ill get KDB, and really want KDB even though I think Wilson Moura could expload gw1.
Also, if I get Wilson Im switching Henderson to Pope 😆

          5.5m McGinn and Ceballos too
          6.5m Lanzini and Fornals
          6m Yarmolenko
          Etc..
          I like that slot

Another option is 4 4 2 with KDB and Ings / Che, but that doesnt allow me to get a Che mid easily.
        Hmm.

Finally come to a set up I like. What do you think?

    Ryan Button
    VVD Robertson Digne Laporte Rico
    Salah Sterling Perez Maddison Dendoncker
    Wilson Jota Wickham

Assess Perez & Maddison over the first couple of weeks then move onto whoever gets the nod at CAM for Chelsea.

Just take a look at Chelsea's predicted line-up, its genuinely awful? They're like a top half team just about.

    1. Semaj1990
      6 years, 11 months ago

Are you new to football or maths? Chelsea only lack a top class striker. The rest of the squad are easily better than arsenal and probably united too. That should result in 4th. Top half consists of 10.

      1. Siggy in the Middle
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 11 months ago

Not really though. Pulisic is new to the league while Pedro and Willian are inconsistent. Barkley is decent but injury prone, Mount doesn't have PL experience and they've lost their star player in Hazard. I don't think it's unreasonable to think it might be hard for them to make top four.

        1. Semaj1990
          6 years, 11 months ago

I agree Siggy. It is tough to make top 4. As it is every year. But to say they are awful and just about top half is plain idiocy.

There’s been some decent content on here over preseason, but the new feature with a breakdown of each players minutes played in preseason split between games etc has been immense. Hats off for implementing that and I hope we have that each and every preseason moving forward. For me it’s been invaluable to deciding on the nitty gritty areas of my team.

Agreed! I do think, however, that managers use pre-season to give fringe and younger players valuable game time; the players with the most minutes are not more nailed, which is a common misconception.

Typically, the final pre-season game is the most valuable at predicting competitive lineups.
