From John Lundstram (£4.0m) to Mason Greenwood (£4.5m) and everyone in between, there was almost as much pre-season discussion about budget Fantasy options as there was regarding premium assets.

Those heavy hitters excelled in Gameweek 1, with five of the six £10.0m+ Fantasy options all delivering returns for their owners.

Seven of the eight £8.0m+ Fantasy Premier League forwards who played this weekend banked at least one goal or assist, while the five £8.5m+ midfielders who started in Gameweek 1 all delivered too.

As Fantasy managers try to shoehorn as many expensive options into their squads, then, we need cut-price FPL assets more than ever.

With that in mind, we will assess the players in the bottom two price rungs of each position to see how they fared in the weekend just gone.

Who’d you (C) out of: Sterling, Salah and Auba?
Currently on Auba but Salah is close. Sterling could hurt Tottenham defence too with his pace and movement

Between Salah and Auba for me. Think I should stick with Auba as that is the whole reason I started with him.

    nice article

‘Mepham may well be making way from the Bournemouth starting XI in Gameweek 2 should Howe drop a centre-half and revert to a 4-4-2’

Don’t think so, he nailed down a starting place last season and he will partner Ake this season too.

i think he did have an injury, but Mepham was superb last season, composed and defends very well, bought for £10 mill in Dec, 6’ 3’’ and he has been faultless for Wales too.

I can see one of the big clubs coming in for him pretty soon.

Only time will tell and maybe we are looking at a back 3 all season, Cook is left footed I believe and may well play left centre back or even left back ?

    Re-post on whom to captain this GW;

    a) Auba (BUR) - pretty much the reason I started with him over Kane and has a great record in this fixture but I fear the Pope and Burnley wall
    b) Salah (sot) - the safe option who will be highly captained playing a Southampton defence who conceded three to Burnley. Can def see Salah scoring but again being marooned on 8 points with no BPS.

For me as a Salah owner it´s easy but having both i would do this judgement, Burnley have looked more tight than Southampton, Liverpool seems a little bit more weak at the back in early stages of season, which will be better once Arnold gets to grip again, thus forcing them to score more. Arsenal (Emery seems to have adjusted fine and while their defenceis not fixed just yet it´s better and i think Emery wants more balance. Burnley goes to Arsenal with one goal, to keep things tight, Southampton home more likely to attack a little bit more. But every analyzis beforehand does not take into account the specific players involved. Doe not help you a lot when Liverpool scores 4 but no Salah and Arsenal scores 1 and it´s Auba.

I'm on Auba and feeling quite good about it

Part of the reason is Burnley's away record against top 6 in the past two seasons. They have been consistently very leaky against all of them bar Spurs. By my count only 3 times in 12 matches have they conceded the one goal only.

        Rashford blank, Wilson G+A.
You'll wonder what you were thinking in the first place.

By the end of wk2, someone like Kean, Abra, Haller will have announced themselves.
8.5 is a very awkward price for a striker.

Different algo this season. Why does it matter, either you were going to transfer or not and if you were you know you should go early as price changes are unpredictable at this stage of the season.

Looks like price changes are at uncertain times this season.

This is going to feed into a bull market and managers will pull the trigger ealyier in the gw to avoid being caught out from now on imo.

This will ruin some managers lives with the uncertainty of when the changes will happen.

Great move by fpl, I love a bit of chaos I do.

He played well and they just won 4-0 with that 11. I think he’ll start v Wolves but he’ll hafto play well to keep his spot

Still Liverpool, Chelsea and wolves to play, could easily be an injury to one of your players, then the early transfer will be a waste

Brighton won 3-0. No one is talking about their attacking players. Was their game against Watford close enough not to judge on the scoreline?

I think it’s a case of wait and see with Brighton.

I thought he would...that's why I started with him. He didn't, and now the seed of doubt is planted....so I've subbed him out

How did King get on against SHU?
Didn’t he look like scoring or was he hogging the touch line as usual?

Can’t decide wether to go with:
    A) Wilson + 4.5def (probably Diop) B) King + Digne

22-year-old Norwich playmaker. Should be central to their promising-looking attack.

Why so many managers are selling Robertson at this point of season? Just because of Alisson injury?

    1. ZeBestee

Because he blanked in the first game. Casuals.

I'm not one to judge decisions really as I love an early kneejerk. I subbed in McGinn for Torssard at half time.

However, premium defenders are season keepers. I don't see the point in starting with them and dropping after 1 gw. Next week Robertson could get 12...Adrian is a good keeper

Verto to Coleman? Yaay ? Naay?

Poch comment on why he left Vert out is a bit of a concern. He said he chose the best team for the day, I still think Vert would come back soon but rotation may be an issue. Coleman has Sidibe as an option to him, I would be concerned getting him as well. Maguire/WB are all other good options if you don't have.
