Captain Poll

Manchester City assets are expected to compete amongst each other for the Gameweek 4 captaincy in the coming days.

Pep Guardiola’s men host Brighton on Saturday afternoon, one of the most appealing fixtures for premium Fantasy assets.

The Seagulls have looked a little fragile at the back in their last two outings, against West Ham and Southampton, and conceded four times the last time they faced Manchester City, admittedly under a different manager.

However, the reigning champions are in scintillating attacking form, with Raheem Sterling (£12.2m) proving a reliable source of points in the first three Gameweeks.

In that time, he is joint-top in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, his five strikes level with Norwich forward Teemu Pukki (£6.9m).

However, those in possession of Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) will almost certainly be considerin the forward after he finished as the top-scoring player from Manchester City’s recent win over Bournemouth.

The Argentinian played 90 minutes for the first time this season at the Vitality Stadium, which coincided with Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) being ruled out with a hamstring problem.

That should keep the Brazilian out until after the international break, so Aguero’s route into the team against Brighton is unrivalled, and his chances of minute-management by Guardiola will be reduced too.

Also looking like a viable candidate is Kevin de Bruyne (£9.7m), who recorded his fourth assist of the campaign against Bournemouth.

While he is not quite as explosive as his colleagues further forward, the Belgian midfielder has a history of being a reliable source of points when he is a regular in the team.

Many of the other premium options face tougher tasks in Gameweek 4, although that’s not to suggest there won’t be attacking returns on offer.

Liverpool travel to Burnley this weekend, to face a Clarets defence that has got back to its best under Sean Dyche this season.

However, the Reds have scored an average of three goals per game in 2019/20, Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) involved in four of them so far.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mané (£11.5m) was the key man against Southampton, while Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) has been a constant threat for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Spurs go head-to-head in the north London derby on Sunday afternoon.

Following a blank against Newcastle, interest in Harry Kane (£11.1m) may be low, but he does have a good record against the Gunners.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) has attacking returns in each Gameweek so far this season.

Alternatively, Pukki might garner some support for Gameweek 4 after an excellent start to the season.

With five goals in three matches, a match-up with the West Ham defence could reap rewards for the Norwich man.

You can vote in our latest poll below, or in the sidebar of our website.

Also, Joe and David will be discussing the Gameweek 4 captaincy in a live video on our YouTube channel at 12:30pm on Tuesday lunch-time.

I have Ceballos as my 4th mid, Mount as my 3rd. Think both are decent value and not too much risk to have at this point as there’s one eye on the wildcard button if anything were to go tits up.

Team looks decent, no obvious move upon first glance but may just be because I’m exhausted.

Anything I’d be tempted by would require multiple moves so I’d save the FT and reassess next week, unless you were planning to wildcard then.

I'm quite fancying bringing Vardy in. Bournemouth this weekend and then some tough ones with Man U, Tot, New & Liverpool. 3 tough fixtures there but they're all letting goals in and I feel like he will perform better against the bigger clubs anyway? Just a punty feeling.Anyone else feeling a bit of Vardy love?

Also, whats the initial thoughts on Marital injury? I missed all that!

Not for me, he’s hardly been getting any touches let alone chances. Could work though. I think Pukki/Haller and even Barnes could outscore him in next 4 or 5

Leicester fan and current owner of Vardy, I'd be wary. I'm not going to sell him any time soon, but we haven't clicked offensively yet. Sure it could all come together against Bournemouth, but we're not sure about that yet. It's a valid punt but if I was in your position I'd definitely pick Haller who plays Norwich.

Do I hold my WC until the international break?

I can afford another .1 mil price rise with the changes I'm looking at, so if Barnes OR Martial rise i'll be fine but if they both do I'm screwed.

TAA Digne Zinch AWB - Lundstram
Salah Sterling KDB Ceballos - Dendo
    Pukki King - Greenwood

Yes, at some point kun could ruin this plan. Can't say the same about Kane/Aub.
Sure we'll miss the odd haul from them but they're also prone to too many blanks

Well, given that you can't possibly have Kun, Raz AND Kevin, the 2 mids are comforting. Just wait until Kev gets his season-ending injury to make your move (with the rest of us)

Possibly, but can't have all the big hitters and Kane seems the obvious one to avoid at the moment - at least his ownership won't kill us!

I know right, people are funny. You just need some patience in this game, if I had Kane he would not be going anywhere. I would only consider moving him on if he blanked vs Arsenal which I highly doubt. But alas I don’t have him anyway, he has trolled me too many times and with so many cheap forward options and points in midfield I don’t know why anyone finds him appealing. If I need a spurs player it will be son unless Kane starts going ballistic

        • 7 Years

He just isn’t essential or is the least essential of all the big hitters, and I doubt many can trust him with the arm band either.

            • 7 Years

I would give him time basically, despite my opinion of him. He is ofc going to be scoring at certain points and if people bought him in they should stick with him. I think every player should have a chance if u bring them in, not throw them on the chopping board after one bad performance.

            1. SADIO SANÉ
              • 11 Years

I think if people, like me, had thoughts of captaining him in prime home games instead of Salah/Sterling but have now been put off, if in part to the consistency of the other two - then 11m is a luxury you can't really afford - I think sometimes recognising and correcting mistakes is as important as 'patience' in this game

Norwich vs West Ham will be epic. No idea why Balbuena has been in and out the squad, but it points to 6 + goals in that game.

With the Canary defence - no. I'll call it: 3-3

Have just bought Pukki in and would be tempted but unfortunately while City are at home and in the form they're in I'll only be looking at Sterling as the big C this weekend.
