With no goals, assists, clean sheets or bonus points to his name after three Gameweeks of the 2019/20 campaign, Emerson Palmieri (£5.5m) is hardly staking a convincing claim to be in Fantasy managers’ squads going forward.

The Chelsea left-back has shown some encouraging signs in an attacking sense, however, while the Blues’ forthcoming fixture run is among the more appealing in the division.

Between now and the November international break, Frank Lampard’s side face just one of the ‘big six’: a Gameweek 6 clash with Liverpool the only cloud on the horizon.

The Blues thus sit top of our Season Ticker for ‘defence’ between Gameweeks 4 and 12, which will provide faint hope of a long-awaited first clean sheet of 2019/20 – even if Chelsea’s defence is currently doing anything but.

Only Norwich City have conceded more goals than Lampard’s troops (seven) so far, while the west London club are among seven teams yet to register a shut-out.

Clean sheets are also thin on the ground across the Premier League, though, with just three in Gameweek 3 and two in Gameweek 2.

Indeed, Everton are the only club to have kept more than one league shut-out this season.

With that in mind, perhaps we should be placing even more emphasis than we usually do on defenders who can compensate for a loss of clean sheet with a semi-regular attacking return.

Emerson’s attacking credentials will, therefore, be the primary focus of this Members’ piece.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 3

    Would you
    A) Jota to Barnes, despite the Liverpool game
    B) Roll FT, play Jota, have 2FT for IB. Likely get Barnes next week.

For the first time, I don't think I'm going to need to WC in the first 5 weeks. My team is coming together. Just one -4 this week to deal with Martial and I should be set after next week on my targeted team.

Another try for a couple of replies. Stick with Jota or take the hit?

I caved and went for Mount with my FT. A bit Ashamed with myself!

G2G or worth Jota > Haller for -4 given Hanley out now also? Can see WOL vs EVE being a deadlock.

    0FT 1.5itb
    Heaton
    VVD, Zinch, Digne, AWB
    Salah, Sterling (C), KDB, Mount

Agree Everton Wolves looks very low scoring and Haller has a perfect fixture really. Even if it doesn’t pay immediately you’d back Haller to repay the hit in the next 4/5 easy given that fixture run.

I think they’re probably the most likely to keep cleaners behind City. It’s attack wise I worry for Everton.

With Digne it feels like a guaranteed 6 points a week.

I need to bring Aguero or Sterling in and can only do it for -4:

    A) Kane Martial âž¡ Aguero(c) Mount -4
    B) Kane Martial âž¡ Sterling(c) Abraham/Barnes -4

    Who to bench from
A: Perez (BOU) - Good fixture but might not start

B: Cantwell (whm) - already have pukki, so would be doubling up. Not sure about how Norwich play away from home

C: King (lei) - could be a tough fixture but hard to call. On pens but no much threat from open play? Haven’t seen any Bournemouth games so hard to tell

I'd go for the risky C

Dendo is injured btw, doubtful to play

Soy and Cantwell likely. And then a bunch of high scoring keepers.

    Good afternoon folks,

Should I WC after deadline or can I get by with just minor surgery? I've used my FT for this week.

    Heaton - 4.0

Soyuncu - Digne - Van Dijk - Montoya - Lundstram

    Sterling - Martial - Salah - Perez - Cantwell

    Barnes - Kane - Greenwood

    Heaton
    Zinc Vvd Digne
    Dendoncker Salah Sterling Kdb
    Greenwood Haller Pukki
    Bench: Pope/Lundstram/Rico/Martial

    Best play:
    A. Martial to Mount (-4) which allows future upgrades elsewhere.
    B. Dendoncker to Cantwell (-4) who would rotate with Lundstram.
    C. Hold and hope
