Joe is joined by David and Karam for the latest episode of the Scoutcast tonight.

You can watch it on our YouTube channel from 8pm BST to 9pm BST.

This episode overlaps with the return of European football to our screens.

Liverpool and Chelsea take on Napoli and Valencia respectively as the Champions League group stages get underway on Tuesday night.

We will have Scout Notes on those matches on Wednesday, but for now, there’s a brand new episode of the Scoutcast to occupy your attention.

On tonight’s agenda are the best cheap defenders now that the premium ones have frustrated their owners.

We’ll also discuss how best to cover Manchester City in the wake of their surprise defeat at Norwich.

Finally, we’ll debate how to recover from a poor start to the season as many managers have endured a tough few weeks.

Thinking of utilising my wildcard to make this team. Thoughts?

    Pope - £4m
    TAA - Digne - Aurier - Tomori - Lundstram
    Salah - Sterling - KDB - Cantwell - Nkamba
    Abraham - Wilson - Pukki

Aurier and Tomori too risky for me, i'd get more nailed options.

No Auba and Son on WC?

Son vs KDB. Son over KDB is an option. Not sure about Auba. I think there are plenty of good cheaper forwards out there.

For a minus 8 you achieve the same effect pretty much.

I struggle with this argument. Demel might require a -8 to get 3 players he wants, but the wildcard allows two or three other desirable changes.

Why muddle along with a non-optimal team waiting for it to break before making your changes. Sounds like the route to a top 20k rather than a top 2k finish.

I don't think you need to play it. You are not shifting around any of your big guns. Just do it hit by hit.

It’s so similar to current set up. Lose Robbo and Zinc and you’re there pretty much.

I’d want WC to attack with new set up or if team was broken. Neither applies.

Yeah, might only need a -4 to get something very similar.

I used the wildcard to get the likes of Cantwell and Lundstram in nice and early, but I don't know how much movement there is on periphery players. That said, Greenwood and Wickham are the problem as you can't easily jump on Abraham and Wilson. Might be worth it.

I think he costs a bit too much given alternatives around his price point.

He is the cog that makes the Burnley attack (Barnes & Wood, more notably Barnes) work.

I feel he'll often come up short. Very nifty player nonetheless.

What are your thoughts on this wildcard team?

i tried to keep double city because of fixtures but also wanted Son. Only regret is not having Aubameyang. Also im punting on Aurier and if he doesn't play i atleast have some back up.

    Pope Button

    Aurier Pieters Soyuncu Lundstrum Diop

Son Sterling Mane De Bruyne Chong

    Haller Abraham Pukki
