Liverpool are the main focus of the Double Gameweek 24 captaincy debate as their promising assets have two relatively appealing fixtures to play in.

However, selecting someone to trust the armband with has been a difficult decision for many of us.

To help decipher the puzzle, we’ve been running the rule over all the candidates ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, using their underlying data as well as the defensive data of their upcoming opposition.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up via either a season-long, monthly or discounted package can access it in full.

Captain Poll

Following his toplessly-celebrated goal against Manchester United, Mohamed Salah (£12.4m) is the front-runner in the Double Gameweek 24 captain poll.

So far, he has accrued the support of 42.5% of the voters, 17% more than his price-mate Sadio Mané (£12.4m), who sits on 25.5%.

The Senegalese international’s cause may have taken a hit after back-to-back blanks against Spurs and Manchester United, matches in which Salah registered an assist and a goal.

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) comes in as the best-of-the-rest having earned the support of 15.6%.

The right-back has not blanked since Gameweek 16, registering either a clean sheet, an assist or a goal in every match since then, averaging 10 points per game in that time.

Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) is further below the main pack, backed by just 4% of the voters.

That may be of great encouragement to those considering the Brazilian, who has been involved in more away league goals than any Liverpool player this season (eight).

Jack Grealish (£6.6m) is the most popular single Gameweek player so far, earning 2.4% of the votes ahead of Aston Villa’s meeting with Watford on Tuesday night.

Five goals and one assist in the last two matches for Sergio Aguero (£11.9m) has not convinced many to look past Liverpool for Double Gameweek 24.

The Manchester City man, who faces Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, has been selected as the best captain option by just 1.5%.

Kevin de Bruyne (£10.7m) and Divock Origi (£5.2m) are the only other options on more than 1%.

Meanwhile, only 0.6% have the voters have gone for Andrew Robertson (£7.0m) as the best captain candidate despite the Double Gameweek on offer for the left-back.

    No love for Snodgrass?
1 goal 2 assists in his last 3 starts,
high chance of playing both games,
    on set pieces,
liv & lei aren't that tight in the back

Adama >> snoddy good or bad move?

      Been anticipating these 🙂
Yes about that CS but if you watch/monitor the game, at sometimes in the match pool defence can be very vulnerable. Just look at match vs ManU, tony M & Pereira both had great chance they can't finish.

I just think that whu can sneak 1 goal vs pool & snoddy will be part of that. But points vs lei is what my expect from snoddy.

Someone please convince me why I should TC Salah instead of Mané?

In my opinion Mané has been the better player this season and has looked more clinical in front of goal. Also he hasn’t blanked 3 games in a row all season. I know that isn’t a great metric but I just can’t see him blanking a 3rd game never mind a 4th. I feel like there might be recency bias seeping in to the Salah Triple Captainers? Or am I missing something?

I think it has a lot to do with Salah's much lower ownership and the fact he's on pens.

      1. Andre_The_Giant

Pens certainly helps Salah. Is it enough to sway the decision. Possibly..

Really not a lot between them for ages now. Mane has a slightly better annual ppm but nothing that a haul by Mo wouldn’t fix!

6 Liverpool goals in last 4 matches with 3 at home doesn’t bode well for a clattering with a haul in any event

    4. tucaoneo

I watched SHU and ManU matches. Salah is coming into life while Mane looks pretty rubbish. But again I may end up C him. The dude Pranil made a good point on scoutcast. Salah needs a lot to go well to score while Mane often gets clear cut chances and put them away.

      1. Andre_The_Giant
        • 6 Years

I think that last point is important. It also effects Mo’s bps with a lot of wasted chances. Generally he finds it difficult to get bonus with 1 goal. Whereas Mané doesn’t.

    5. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years

They're both exceptional world-beaters. Each of them is just as likely to get 6 points as they are likely to get 20. Only hindsight will prove anybody right or wrong. But the good thing is that you can keep both until GW34 or when the league is won and Klopp maybe starts rotating (Minamino punt then?)

So all this overthinking comes down to two matches you simply cannot predict... Which I don't really see the point in stressing over

      1. Andre_The_Giant
        • 6 Years
        6 years, 1 month ago

Yeh completely fair points. We’re definitely overthinking it. Probably at the detriment of overlooking other players. Aguero being a great example.

Both are good options. Just trust your gut and accept what happens happens.

Was looking forward to finally get rid of Pope, but might just have to keep for another week with Richarlison injured.

    Pope
    TAA - Soyuncu - Rico
Salah (TC) - Mane - Cantwell - Maddison
    Vardy - Maupay - DCL

    Bench: Stekelenburg, Richarlison, Lundstram, Reid.

    1FT and 1.9M ITB

    I see two alternatives:
A: Cantwell to Grealish so I can keep Richarlison for the next two fixtures (although will give me headache, but could save me in case of rotation?)
B: Straight swap with Rich to Grealish (Martial, Son etc also an option if Rich goes)

    Thoughts?

Could be a momentous decision in your season. Personally I dont think I you have much to lose. All that, only amounts to a TC chip being used. Good luck to you mate as I have the same 3 (minus the TC just captain for TAA) without any WHU players. If TAA scores well tonight you will have a week to gloat about it before the west ham game. Who to triple captain...

    Mane or salah?

Everyone in my money league will have salah and I am currently just 15 points off top. Worth taking the risk for mane or stay safe with salah?
