We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

Full-year subscriptions are available for the pre-season price of £17.50 until August 31, while rolling monthly Memberships can be purchased for £2.99.

    Thoughts on this?

    McCarthy
    TAA Robertson Vinagre Saliba
    Auba Son Ziyech Pepe
    Werner Jimenez

    Bench = fodder

No Salah as I'll probably cap Auba for the first weeks.
Will ship Auba out after GW2 and look for my next captain then (Salah/KDB/Mane/Bruno).
Pepe could be Willian. Think Arsenal could easily score 3 each in their first 2 fixtures.

If Pepe doesn't start/impress in GW1, could get Greenwood.
I seriously want Rash/Bruno for CPL game but can't think of way that doesn't disrupt my team

Greenwood on bench for GW1. I might also get rid of Salah for Bruno for GW2 for the double-up.

        Could be another 4.5
        KWP for example.
I'm not expecting a lot of points from my two 4.5 defenders.
They are just enablers to get the other 8 I'm happy with.

They started to gel going forward though, didn’t they? Granted, they’ll not keep many clean sheets in those fixtures, but maybe still some attacking returns from a 5.0. That’s all you can ask for from your 5th mid.

Aside from City gw2, Jimi fixtures are pretty much as good as they get right up to November.

And he certainly has done well playing gainst the big teams last few seasons. He won't fear Shu gw1 either. Surprised he's not in a lot more drafts.

I think he's a great holding option until deciding on WC. Proven, consistent, nailed and shouldn't let you down.

    1. drughi

        6 years, 14 hours ago

I would ideally want that but my first 2-3 transfers would definitely be focused on transferring out arsenal and getting in Manchester.

If it takes a hit to do Ings to Jimenez, I'd rather have Jimenez from the start

I think I can only afford one striker over 6.5 and I'm currently being swayed by the Werner hype over the steady consistency of Jimi. May change by GW1 kick off though.

He’s probably going to score 10+ goals over the season. Not many 6.0 players with that many returns. Newly promoted teams often have a decent start. Plus he’s got Premier League experience, and he’s coming off the back of a decent season.

    New strategy this season:
    1) Bench boost GW1
    2) WC GW2

The idea is to try to get an early lead before the 2nd wave of COVID hits and games get postponed/cancelled and everyone’s “plans“ go to pot.

Clearly I’m taking a more positive approach this season 😉

442 may be considered boring but it is the best formation so far for me spreading points equally in my starting 11. I do not think your bench will matter much in the opening GW's. Having a solid 1st 11, premium GK, 3 premium defence, 2 premium mids, one 8ish and one budget mid, one budget and one 9ish forward gives me a decent setup. I will have to be saddled with 442 for the opening GW's as the bench will have Ferguson or Johnson 1st sub but I am going for a more long term approach this time round compared to using my WC early this past season.

Also, lockdowns could rear it's ugly head again so the WC will stay for as long as possible. Hits also destroyed my rank after the restart so need to save those FT's and use them wisely without being trigger happy. Only fix fires one at a time.

Guess there are many ways to skin a cat but at the end of the day you just need to follow your gut.

I think 4-4-2 is the way to go this season- I've opted for a stronger strikerforce tho (Werner and Jimi)- I dont think we'll be able to rely too much on mitrovic.

Not sure on whether to go for Ryan or Mccarthy in goal. . .

Bench are all blanking in GW1

    0.5 ITB

    McCarthy
    TAA KWP Justin Vinagre
    Salah (c) Son Auba ASM
    Mitro Werner

    Nyland Taylor Greenwood Davis

Any suggestions on improvements? Thinking to keep squad for 1st GWs and then Auba to KDB

      I would want one United.

With City I don't think bother until GW3. Get Aubameyang instead. With City players you will be taking up a lot of budget when you can have high-ceiling players in GWs 1&2 instead.

Current side. Thoughts? Getting Martial early. Auba to KdB/Sterling in gw3. Can do Kane & Barnes to Salah & Mitrovic afterwards if I wish.

    McCarthy
    Trent - Dier - Vinagre
    Auba - Ziyech - H.Barnes - Saint-Maximin - Armstrong
    Jimenez - Kane

    Nyland - Justin - Ferguson - Martial

Not that keen on ASM. Jimenez in there for GW3 onwards. H.Barnes in there for fixtures (could become Maddison). Don't fancy Salah

      Ings

All other talismanic strikers in the league's best attacks have members of the same team who have the potential (not with absolute certainty, mind) to match/beat/get close to them for points as captains or long term members of my XI: Bruno, Doherty, Ziyech/Pulisic, KDB/Sterling

Kane also stands out, as Mou sets the team up to feed him with goals, so I don't see Son/Alli matching him long-term, but at least they should come a lot closer to Kane than a rotating Armstrong will come to Ings. If Armstrong becomes fully nailed, then it's less certain to me

This is similar to my pre-fixtures team. However, being restricted to only City and Utd captains (and possibly TAA) didn't make any sense given the fixtures.

Triple defence of any team leads to misery when they concede a late goal. For a lot of the drama queens who post on this site it’s more than can handle.

Also, WC week 2 as I’ve just previously mentioned, is amateur stuff.

      1. KAPTAIN KANE SERVES THE PAI…

Possibly, but I’m actually looking at triple pool defense and rather than looking at any defensive returns I’m looking at the attacking returns potential. Worth it for average 7 apiece.

WC week 2 may seem amateur, but what if it pays off?

Is anyone's default plan to bank their transfer after GW1?

I'm thinking that that would give me more flexibility apropos integrating De Bruyne and Greenwood into my team for GW3.

What concerns me is that with everyone piling into them after GW1, their prices might run away from me.

City players surely aren't essential for GW2 though?

Wolves beat City home and away last season, keeping a clean sheet in the away game.

Crystal Palace is more of a concern, but having Son instead of Greenwood wouldn't trouble me overly much either.

West Brom fan here just wanting to share something I think may be of slight interest. Ferguson, who has now joined Palace, actually played left back for us. I see a lot of people commenting he is a right back and although I think this may be his natural position I think there’s just as much chance he will cover the injured Van Aanholt.
