Jan Sienkiewicz was the king of the Fantasy Premier League captaincy in 2019/20, scoring a whopping 657 points from the armband, the second-highest in the whole world. He’s here to help once again, this time assessing the Gameweek 5 options.

The first international break of the 2020/21 season has given Fantasy managers plenty of time to weigh up captaincy decisions for the upcoming
Gameweek 5.

October 4, 2020 will come down as one of the most remarkable days in Premier League history, as the two most successful teams in English football conceded 13 goals combined.

However, despite the heavy 7-2 defeat to Aston Villa, Liverpool’s ‘Egyptian King’ Mohamed Salah (£12.2m) still came away with a 13-point return and is once again favoured by Fantasy managers.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane (£10.6m) and Heung-Min Son (£9.1m) are tipped to deliver against West Ham United on the back of an impressive victory at Old Trafford.

As per usual, the Captain Sensible article previews the most important upcoming games and assesses each of the best options, while also using data from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area.

Captain Poll

captain-sensible-gameweek-5

Liverpool’s Salah, as well as Tottenham Hotspur’s Kane and Son, appear to be the three players at the centre of this week’s debate – with the trio gaining a combined 63.9% of our users’ votes in the Captaincy Poll.

Further down the list, Manchester City midfielders Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m, 6.4% of votes) and Raheem Sterling (£11.5m, 3.1%) have not gained a lot of attention ahead of their match against Arsenal. Similarly, it seems like, despite the impressive form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m, 5.1%) and Richarlison (£7.9m, 3.5%), Fantasy managers are wary of an ongoing goal drought by the Toffees in the Merseyside derby matches of recent years.

Surprisingly, none of the Chelsea or Manchester United assets are being
considered by the majority of our voters. Are we perhaps overlooking some
exciting picks? Let’s have a look at this week’s crucial fixtures.

Deal with the back line. Adams can wait. But you are dangerously close to having only 2 playing defenders. Looks like Justin should have his spot another couple of weeks at least? Maybe ship out Davies first. Someone attacking in the 5-5.5 range is probably an ok transfer to make. Saiss? Chillwell if fit?

Thanks, I agree. Doubling the Foxes could be a thing with no Vardy/Barnes upfront.
Concidering also Lamptey but no point in searching spare money with actual ITB :D.
Saiss and Wolves fixs are good but tripling them in current form might be not too wise.

Someone posted two or three weeks back that Brewster going to Sheffield United would ruin the game. I'm wildcarding right now and I've come to understand what he means. He's an underpriced 4.5m playing forward who will quite possibly score around half a dozen goals this season and if you're really lucky he'll come off your bench after bagging a tasty 9 pointer. More importantly though, the bundles of cash that he frees up really beefs up your team elsewhere and makes it something worth going to war with.

Not buying the hype. Decent bench option but he takes up 1 of 3 forwards, and is esentially a dice role, seen many championship players with better scoring records flop, and sheffield are not exactly free flowing.

It's not something that'll wow the brain tho is it. He's still Brewster not Messi. Even if he played for leeds what's the big deal. Who's to say he'll do well. If he was a great player Klopp would have kept him

he just doesn’t fit their style at this point, I’m not sure selling him with a buyback is a knock on his talent

Fantastic bench option imo. He's basically a 6m forward in disguise (3 of the other 4 Sheffield forwards cost that at the start of the season) and he enables a powerful 4-5-2.

Getting him now may or may not be wise...could wait to see if he looks decent then bring him in when form/fixtures turn bad for one of your forwards...I think he’ll be the equivalent of an occasionally scoring 5.0 mid, and not much more

Prefer Burke and stick to 353 myself I think...too many good striker options to move away just yet. In saying that if he looks good I'll be very tempted to downgrade Jimenez and get in Salah for one of my City mids!

Double ups inherintly carry some risk. If that team and the players you've picked then has a down turn of form &/or fixtures then you'll want to get rid of one of the players at least which means it is a potential transfer down the line. If you only have one player from that team then whilst it's still a potential transfer you have more options to wait if you have other pressing concerns elsewhere.

Doubling up on a top team is usually a fine risk because it's unlikely you'll need to get rid of one or both. But doubling up on a mid table team like Brighton is a completely un-necessary risk to take IMO.

Don't like the TAA & Robbo double up tbh. You are only banking on their attacking returns which will be there but not likely every game. Having 1 is likely enough or still too much. Just my 2 cents

Yeah but still. The Watkins goal was well taken. Good set piece for a goal too. That's still 3 clean goals vs the Champions.

Freakish or not, I don't think there are many teams that could do that. Villa have been good for a while now too. They survived after restart with some really tough fixtures as well.

Watford who got relegated defeated pool 4-0. But yeah they look better, but don't have as good fixtures as Brighton. Maupay on penalties still makes him a better pick imo

I have Grealish in my team btw. Just not confident enough in them to double up that's all

Defence might be issue if Chilwell Lamptey not fit to play so listen to press conferences news tomorrow- PVA may also be back putting Mitchell place under threat but probably

    McCarthy Steer
    TAA Justin Taylor Mitchell Vinagre*
    Salah KDB* JRod Soucek Bissouma
    Werner Martial* DCL

Does KDB, Martial -> Son, Kane (-4) make sense?

I havent used WC yet and I am thinking the next IB might be a good time.

Based on the next 4 fixtures alone, plus form.. I think this makes sense?

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks guys.

      I like all of em.

But all have some random risks.

Semedo with Portugal could suddenly get COVID. Reguilon is a rotation risk because Davies might play. Chilwell is an injury doubt.

In terms of raw fixtures, Reguilon and Spurs probably scores best in the next 4 games or so.

Depends if that's a 5th mid or not. If you have to bench Watkins than I'd go 1.

Kind of at a loss here with my FT, 1.7M ITB:

    Martinez
    James - Saiss - Lamptey
    KDB - Salah - Hamez - Foden
    Werner - DCL - Jimenez

    Mitchell - Dunne - Burke

    A) Take hit, Werner + Foden out for Son/Pulisic + Watkins/Maupay or something similar
    B) Single transfer: Foden to Trossard/Grealish, Werner to Kane, or Upgrade James to Robertson
    C) Roll FT

Foden > Grealish would be the move I'd make.

Take a risk and cap Werner!
