Ings and Maupay passed fit but named on the bench for Brighton v Southampton

A match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton looks like a fairly low-key end to Gameweek 11 on paper but there is still plenty of interest in this fixture from a Fantasy perspective.

The second most-popular goalkeeper in Fantasy Premier League, Alex McCarthy (£4.6m), starts between the posts for the visitors, while five other players with double-digit FPL ownerships also feature in tonight’s clash on the south coast.

Kick-off at the Amex is at 20:00 GMT.

The team news is fairly straightforward, with only one change between the two clubs from the line-ups we saw in Gameweek 10.

Tariq Lamptey (£4.8m) is back from a one-match ban and replaces forward Neal Maupay (£6.2m), who has recovered from a minor injury but finds himself among the substitutes.

It’s hardly a like-for-like swap and it’ll necessitate a reshuffle from Graham Potter, with Joel Veltman (£4.3m) moving to centre-half and Ben White (£4.4m) pushed into midfield.

Despite tasting defeat against Manchester United last weekend, Ralph Hasenhuttl sticks with the same Southampton side that began that 3-2 loss at St Mary’s.

There are a few notable returnees among the Saints substitutes, with Nathan Redmond (£6.4m) and Mohamed Salisu (£4.3m) available after fitness issues and making the matchday squad.

The headline news is the inclusion of Danny Ings (£8.3m) on the visitors’ bench, with the England international making a playing comeback after a month on the sidelines.

Hasenhuttl said of Ings ahead of kick-off:

Definitely [could get minutes], yes. Could also be a possibility from the beginning but I don’t like to start with players when I know I have to sub them, it limits me in the options I have.

He can always jump in and help us, it’s always good when you have players like him and Reddy on the bench.

    I could use that money instead to try get Bruno, but even then it would need to be for Jota, and even then I’m at least 0.2 short so would still have to sell Lamptey or something to fund it.
    No KDB or Bruno are issues, but no easy way to get either.

              Yeah and don't try to concentrate on getting differentials, not losing more ground is as good as gaining ground. Sterling smashed for in last 4 gwks I (c) him 3 times and no esle cottoned on to him

        Cheers bud, if I got 200k I’d be thrilled! My original team that I kept my history going with however is killing it, but that’s not entered in any of my ML’s. It’s a team I’ve hardly cared about and is soaring, typical aint it.

          all i care about is getting a green each week and beating 10k and overall averages, wont beat 10k average every week but u dont need to.
          Hits arent so bad, the 4 weeks i took -4s all got me greens, not keen on -8s tho

            Yeah I’ve taken a lot of hits, that needs to calm down, although many have been greens they’ve been very small. I have a great team but just can’t pick a correct captain to save my life!

      depends on where your goals are.
      play tight up til doubles, then reassess. you'll catch a few casuals on the double gameweeks. A lot of used their chips.
      I'd say top 100k still possible. top 300k should be very reasonable to achieve.

        I don’t really have goals so to speak, would just like to have a decent season in what seems forever now. My goal right now is to have one good GW where I move up a chunk of places, that simple.
        I’ve used FH along with 1st WC.

          play tight, look to get a small green arrow each week. hopefully improve.
          After xmas, some around you and above 1m+ have lost interest too (i.e. don't make transfers when injuries, don't change captains). you can pick them off with a sorted team.
          I've seen people in the last 10 GWs jump from 1m+ to top 100k.

    What to do here?

    A) KDB -> Salah

    Pros: Will have both Son and Kane vs Crystal Palace. Gives me one more week to assess on whether or not I should move them on. Both are still excellent value
    Cons: It will effectively cost me 0.2 to bring back KDB

    B) Kane + Mahrez -> Bamford + Salah -4

    Pros: Won't lose value on KDB. Easier to get in Bruno for Son if need be. Would then have the holy trinity of Salah, KDB and Fernandes from gw13 or 14.
    Cons: No Kane vs Palace. Will effectively lose 0.2-0.3 if I want him back at some point

    C) DCL + Cancelo + Son -> Bamford + Salah + Max 4.7 Def (rotate with Lamptey) -8
    Pros: Won't lose value on Kane + KDB.
    Cons: No Son vs Palace. Will effectively cost me 0.2-0.3 to bring him back if need be.

          True. Also might want to have Sterling instead. With option B it's either him or Fernandes coming in for Son. Or if Jota looks unlikely to start, then I can bring in Mahrez for Jota. So main worry is losing Kane I guess. But you can't have them all. I know Mark is in a similar situation. Looking forward to next FPL blackbox episode.

    You know what, I've been thinking about Mahrez in of late.

    That price is very good. If he continues to perform as well as he did at the weekend, he's gonna get a sustained run in this team for a fixture run that reads: WBA sou NEW eve in the next few weeks.

    A double up with City is surely worth it.

    I might even sacrifice Son for him. It's really worth considering I think. The points ceiling is there. He's getting a sustained run of games. We know he has big points in him. Heck, he should've had a bunch of assists last game that were squandered.

      right now he's in great form. It does seem he's set to start on the right wing for the next 4/5 league games. However Guardiola does random things. I brought in Walker who'd played every minute of every game. Pep rested him in CL midweek, then didn't pick him randomly for the Fulham game. Cost me at least 6 points.

      Mahrez is hugging the touchline playing wider than before, and is involved in build up play, but not having that much goal threat, with the exception of his hat-trick game. His great performances are not breeding huge fantasy point potential imo. I'd steer clear and rather double up with Walker/Mendy or Sterling or even Jesus

        Is that stats or anecdotally?

        Because Mahrez crushes Son in a 'last 4 matches' comparison in the members area.
        Higher xG, higher xA, higher pen area touches, much more goal attempts. It's not close.

        I really do think there's something there. He has looked really good, and he who dares wins. Besides, Mahrez I think is underpriced really. 175 points last year is nothing to sniff at. I think that puts him in the top 10 of all mids. And he's priced now at 8.4m.

        Yeah he's not a captaincy pick, but a City sword over this hectic period can be really nice to have. A big differential with a huge ceiling.

        I'm quite tempted. We'll see. There is a chance that I'll do Son > Mahrez in GW13. That could be a 15 point swing in a single week.

        spurs have tough fixtures and he's at 60% ownership. He's not on set pieces and Mourinho's performances are not breeding high expected goals. He could easily have a dry spell and people wanna get rid to differentiate themselves. makes sense to me

        I think he's a better player too, but I'm unconvinced that he's going to keep this up scoring wise. Couple that with tougher fixtures, and I think there could be value here we're missing.
