A match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton looks like a fairly low-key end to Gameweek 11 on paper but there is still plenty of interest in this fixture from a Fantasy perspective.

The second most-popular goalkeeper in Fantasy Premier League, Alex McCarthy (£4.6m), starts between the posts for the visitors, while five other players with double-digit FPL ownerships also feature in tonight’s clash on the south coast.

Kick-off at the Amex is at 20:00 GMT.

The team news is fairly straightforward, with only one change between the two clubs from the line-ups we saw in Gameweek 10.

Tariq Lamptey (£4.8m) is back from a one-match ban and replaces forward Neal Maupay (£6.2m), who has recovered from a minor injury but finds himself among the substitutes.

It’s hardly a like-for-like swap and it’ll necessitate a reshuffle from Graham Potter, with Joel Veltman (£4.3m) moving to centre-half and Ben White (£4.4m) pushed into midfield.

Despite tasting defeat against Manchester United last weekend, Ralph Hasenhuttl sticks with the same Southampton side that began that 3-2 loss at St Mary’s.

There are a few notable returnees among the Saints substitutes, with Nathan Redmond (£6.4m) and Mohamed Salisu (£4.3m) available after fitness issues and making the matchday squad.

The headline news is the inclusion of Danny Ings (£8.3m) on the visitors’ bench, with the England international making a playing comeback after a month on the sidelines.

Hasenhuttl said of Ings ahead of kick-off:

Definitely [could get minutes], yes. Could also be a possibility from the beginning but I don’t like to start with players when I know I have to sub them, it limits me in the options I have.

He can always jump in and help us, it’s always good when you have players like him and Reddy on the bench.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Lamptey, White, Bissouma, March, Groß, Connolly, Welbeck.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Walker-Peters, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Bertrand, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Djenepo, Walcott, Adams.

    Stuck on this decision...

Sterling/Telles -TO- Salah/James (has to be done tonight exact £)
    Or
Sterling/DCL -TO- Salah/Wilson (wait for Newcastle game news and allow the Salah rise have 0.5 spare for this move)

Alternatively can get an other defender if under 5.1 or striker if under 7.1, not sure what combo is better tbh

    Anyone? Cheers

A Soucek to Jota, Werner to Bamford (leave Son to Bruno cash)
    B Branwaite to 4.4
C Werner to Bamford alone (3.8M no idea how to use, Bantwaite to Robbo with some of it?)

Could Salah be on for a rest vs Fulham (december 13) with Spurs game coming in just few days later (december 16)? Only two days full rest and the Fulham game is hardly a fixture they need Salah in to win anyway?

He’ll play Fulham away and the full 90. He isn’t often rested. Gets upset as well if he gets subbed off without scoring.

Ye, but again to the point. He’s not going to play on Wednesday most likely. Maybe if they’re 3/4 up he’ll get taken off.

Klopp is very aware of “load management” as he has mentioned so often in interviews. He won’t be playing his best player (who’s recently had covid) for 90 minutes vs Fulham two days before one of their biggest games of the season. 60 mins is best anyone can hope for IMO. Can still do a lot of damage in that time though of course.

Klopp has also said that Salah is the most capable forward at Liverpool in terms of managing his energy during a game. Make of that what you will.

I want Salah in this gameweek... Just worried about whether or not his minutes will be managed as the game vs Spurs is way more important.

          • 11 Years
          5 years, 4 months ago

I think you’re right to be worried. I am currently without Salah and am holding off until I see tomorrow’s lineups at the very least. It really wouldn’t surprise me to see Salah start in CL as one of the only senior players amongst the kids (just to keep him ticking over) and then benched against Fulham to come on only if needed. That’s what I’d do if I was Klopp anyway. But if he is rested tomorrow I may reconsider, very risky to go without him altogether.

            • 10 Years

This isn’t logical. They’re guaranteed top of the group. Then on Sunday they play in a premier league game and they have only won 1 AWAY game this season. It doesn’t make sense to bench him in a game that matters and it sounds like you’re trying to convince yourself a little there.

            1. Harn1
              • 11 Years
              5 years, 4 months ago

I don’t need to convince myself as I’m happy just to wait and see, haven’t decided either way. I’ve said he’ll possibly play just to keep his match fitness ticking over in what is essentially a friendly game and bring him on if needed in a competitive game against a team fighting for their lives only if needed. I don’t see what’s illogical about that.

You'd play your best player in a dead rubber game if you were Klopp? Come on man. You wouldn't even do that on FM lol.

            1. Harn1
              • 11 Years
              5 years, 4 months ago

Well to me it’s a much bigger risk to play him vs Fulham. I’d bench him for that game for sure. So it’s just whether you think he could use the minutes vs Midgetland for match fitness or not. Remember they have nothing to play for either so are hardly likely to kick him off the park. Is there an instruction to avoid 50/50 challenges in FM? I’d use that if so!

We’ll see soon enough anyway, if he is benched then I guess it makes a start vs Fulham a lot more likely and I’ll consider getting him in.

Never been so torn over a decision in the 3 years I have been playing Fantasy Football, so really appreciate any input

    Martinez
    Reguilon - Chilwell - Justin - Coufal - Mitchell
    KDB - Son - Jota - Grealish - Anguissa
    Vardy - Kane - DCL

    1 FT 0ITB

Do I go Vardy and Son to Bamford and Salah for a -4? Otherwise, I am considering rolling the transfer and do Vardy to Bamford and Jota to Bruno in the next GW. Second option gives me more premiums but 0 Liverpool Coverage and also the captaincy rotation between KDB and Salah is too good to pass up over the next few GWs.

Save this week. Son and Vardy +4 can easily outscore Salah and Bamford. Get Salah/Bruno next week

Agreed on that however if you consider that I will be captaining Salah if I get him this GW then the question becomes

Salah x2 + Bamford -4 versus Son + Vardy + Captain (Kane or Vardy most likely)
        Too close to call

You’re not making the moves just for this week
I wouldn’t focus too much on the -4 but who you think scores more over the next stretch of 4-6 games and yes captaincy matters

I'd move this week. You are likely to miss a big Salah haul vs Fulham if you wait. -4 is worth the risk if you captain Salah.

Anyone considering Willian as an option? Corners/FK’s/Due a haul, etc. I know there are better options out there, but more as an extreme differential.

+ Assernal have some “favourable” fixtures coming up and you’d expect them to start hauling (hopefully not; relegation would be sweet!)

Good Luck. Hope you're right. 1 G, 1 A and 1 Pen miss in his home games this season.
I'm keeping him in my team, but I think Son and KDB (and even Grealish) are probably better Captain options this week.

Really? I think only Vardy is a contender this week. Mainly due Salah prolly only playing 70 minutes ish

If Salah plays 70mins, it means Liverpool have already scored 2 or 3 goals, so I wouldn't mind if I were a Salah owner/capper.

    Bench one:

    A) DCL (have James in Defence)
    B) Soucek (have Dallas in Defence)

Im currently ranked at 10k and feel like DCL is safer given ownership but another Soucek goal could rocket me into top 5k.

    Gtg?

    Martinez
    Robertson Chilwell Cancelo
Salah (C) KDB Son Grealish Jota
    DCL Bamford
    ___
    Forster; Lamptey Brewster Fodder

    1.5 itb.

0.2 short of doing Son to Fernandes for free next week. Might take a hit to do DCL + Son -> Watkins/Wilson + Fernandes / Sterling. Keeping Cancelo regardless of the outcome in the weekend I think.

Would have ditched him if I had a FT. Guess the next game will be a proper test to see if he is worth holding through the tough fixtures. His time is limited none the less. Watkins and Wilson with dgw's coming up will surely see him make way at some point.
