A match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton looks like a fairly low-key end to Gameweek 11 on paper but there is still plenty of interest in this fixture from a Fantasy perspective.

The second most-popular goalkeeper in Fantasy Premier League, Alex McCarthy (£4.6m), starts between the posts for the visitors, while five other players with double-digit FPL ownerships also feature in tonight’s clash on the south coast.

Kick-off at the Amex is at 20:00 GMT.

The team news is fairly straightforward, with only one change between the two clubs from the line-ups we saw in Gameweek 10.

Tariq Lamptey (£4.8m) is back from a one-match ban and replaces forward Neal Maupay (£6.2m), who has recovered from a minor injury but finds himself among the substitutes.

It’s hardly a like-for-like swap and it’ll necessitate a reshuffle from Graham Potter, with Joel Veltman (£4.3m) moving to centre-half and Ben White (£4.4m) pushed into midfield.

Despite tasting defeat against Manchester United last weekend, Ralph Hasenhuttl sticks with the same Southampton side that began that 3-2 loss at St Mary’s.

There are a few notable returnees among the Saints substitutes, with Nathan Redmond (£6.4m) and Mohamed Salisu (£4.3m) available after fitness issues and making the matchday squad.

The headline news is the inclusion of Danny Ings (£8.3m) on the visitors’ bench, with the England international making a playing comeback after a month on the sidelines.

Hasenhuttl said of Ings ahead of kick-off:

Definitely [could get minutes], yes. Could also be a possibility from the beginning but I don’t like to start with players when I know I have to sub them, it limits me in the options I have.

He can always jump in and help us, it’s always good when you have players like him and Reddy on the bench.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Lamptey, White, Bissouma, March, Groß, Connolly, Welbeck.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Walker-Peters, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Bertrand, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Djenepo, Walcott, Adams.

      Think it might take him a few games to get fit and firing again though.

      And you do feel he is never far from his next injury.

      There’s hardly a 4.5 defender lighting it up that it’s worth wasting a transfer on. I think he’ll do ok, just not quite living up to his early season promise

              Even if they don't play that means Wilson will have two double-gameweeks. As long as you have a decent enough player to come off the bench you're in good shape.

  12. FPL Daniel

    Long post alert.

    The team

    Martinez
    Robbo Mitchel Lamptey Justin Chilwell
    Son KDB Bruno Grealish Jota
    DCL Bamford Antonio

    1.2 itb, 1 FT.

    What option you think it's the best?

    A) KDB to Salah and next week either reverse transfer or 8 pt hit selling Jota Robbo and Antonio to get KDB back. This means I give the Fulham game to Robbo and Jota and will sell KDB

    B) Son and Antonio out Davis (can't afford Brewster) and Salah in for 4 pt hit. Son comes back after 2 GWs after the Liverpool game

    C) Jota Robbo Antonio out Salah Dallas Davis in for 8 pt hit. Risky since I sell 2 assets playing against Fulham but if Jota is benched and Liverpool concede it might be good

    D) DCL Antonio Jota out Salah Davis Brewster in for 8 pt hit. DCL fixtures are bad but this means my bench is non existent. Will fix it next week by selling Mitchel to Dallas and potentially downgrade Robbo if needed

    Thanks

                B works to free up funds for your bench, sell an unfit player and get your desired captain, so that kills three birds with one hit for you

        • 17 Years
        5 years, 7 months ago

        B was my original plan when I was setting up the bus team, but Son explosion and ownership got me worried. I also loose the most money in that case. It might be logical but selling the highest scoring player in the game for a hit before he plays Palace? Also he is 80% owned in the Top 10K. KDB is much less owned.

        Again, that was my initial plan but now no sure

            Forget ownership. Decide based on points potential. Fact of the matter is, Son has not taken enough shots. You need Salah this week he's the best way for you to get him.

            1. FPL Daniel
              • 17 Years
              5 years, 7 months ago

              I need Salah I agree that. Son shots have been worry I agree, but he plays Palace and is the top scoring player in the game. Ouch it is very difficult. I might just postpone it and do Salah to KDB.

              I am scared to play against the Kane Son combo next week. It might be decimating my ranking and my season

                Getting rid of KdB is not good either. He has West Brom after the Utd game.

                See it as an opportunity to get ahead. If they blank you rise a lot.

          I agree with those points. Salah is the key man for this week and is more likely to score big than Son. I see why you are reluctant to take him out, I did it on a WC but my mid had delivered big since. Obviously it could backfire but you go with what is more likely to get the most points.

    Best 2 week transfer plan?

    A)
    GW12: DCL + KDB -> Bamford + Salah -4
    GW13: Son + Lamptey -> Fernandes + Vestergaard -4

    B)
    GW12: KDB -> Salah
    GW13: Kane + Jota -> Bamford + KDB -4

    C)
    GW12: Kane + Mahrez -> Bamford + Salah -4
    GW13: Son -> Fernandes

    D)
    GW12: DCL to Bamford
    GW13: Son to Bruno

    Leaning towards A or B as they allow me to keep Kane and Son vs Crystal Palace. Also gives me time to see if Spurs will create more chances when their fixtures turn

    Lamptey finally looks lively all of a sudden.

    Player: *lays off ball to teammate on edge of box*

    Teammate: "now I'll just lean back and.... ah crap"

    Lamptey's delivery isn't good enough. His engine and his dribbling are top class but he needs to up his end product if he's to get a move to and hold a place in a top side.

      That will be why Chelsea only recently sold him to Brighton then.

      It's a bit infuriating alright. He's still quite young, so time to develop, I guess. Wan B was similar and has improved his delivery a bit

      That's why Chelsea let him go. He has the potential and might become amazing full back but he is still not there. I agree

      He's like a young Traore.

    Vestergaard and Zouma, both have become goalscoring defenders, with 3 and 4 goals a piece already! Neither of them were particuarly seen as goalscoring defenders before now. Do you think their current form will continue throughout the season?
    Personally I am too worried that the minute I decide to own one of them, their returns will dry up!

      In my experience when defenders start scoring they keep it up at least for the season. Repeating it for 2-3 seasons is extremely rare. Only exceptions were

      Laursen
      Lescott
      Vidic
      VVD

        They do tend to at least keep it up for the season don't they!

          They do they do. I don't know why, probably is a confidence thing
