Gabriel Jesus (£9.2m) and Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m) have been left out of the Manchester City squad to face Southampton in Gameweek 14.

The club released an official statement with their Saturday team-sheet which explained the two players were “not fully fit” for the trip to St Mary’s Stadium.

“Sergio Aguero is amongst the substitutes for Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Southampton, but Gabriel Jesus and Aymeric Laporte are not fully fit and have been left out of the matchday squad.” – Manchester City press release

Sergio Aguero (£10.3m) is still only ready enough for a place on the bench so it looks to be either Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) and Ferran Torres (£6.9m) occupying the centre-forward role from the start this afternoon.

Bernardo Silva (£7.4m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) complete the front-four, with Riyad Mahrez (£8.4m) left on the bench for the second successive Premier League match.

John Stones (£4.8m) earns his place back, starting alongside Ruben Dias (£5.6m) at centre-back, with João Cancelo (£5.5m) starting for the fourth match in a row, Kyle Walker (£6.2m) at right-back.

Southampton are in their traditional 4-2-2-2 shape, Danny Ings (£ and Che Adams (£ leading the line with Theo Walcott (£ and Moussa Djenepo (£ providing the width.

Southampton XI: A McCarthy; Bertrand, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Walker-Peters; Djenepo, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Walcott; Ings, Adams.

Manchester City XI: Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Walker; Rodrigo, Gündogan; Torres, De Bruyne, B Silva; Sterling.

Why has KdB risen 0.4 already when he hasn’t really performed that well (relative to price) and his ownership isn’t that high??

Seems like certain players are more prone to price changes regardless of ownership, it’s weird

History. In the present I've gone for triple City in defence. I'd clocked that they're just not firing up front but are magnificent in defence.

Just took a look - KDB's been outscored by 14 players so far this season, and only one has a higher price. I don't understand the die-hard holders when you can acquire points for less (way less in many cases) and use funds elsewhere. And City look super, super FLAT. I just don't see him or that team going on a huge offensive production tear unless something meaningful changes with their finishing (like Aguero).

Leeds just put 5 against Newcastle. I will keep him for that game

Oh I get that, but form's been much more of a "predictor" so far this season than fixtures, right?

Also Leeds have outscored City so far this season. Who'd have thought.

Because if you look at the stats and watch him, kdb's standards haven't dropped, except some poorer finishing in front of goal, but he's been producing chances and big chances at a very high rate. The reason he's not scoring alot of points is his city teammates not scoring them. But people are buying and holding because its not as if kdb is producing nothing and anonymous in games, he's doing the right things but this game can be fine margins of random variance. On another day, city can suddenly put the chances away and he will haul. Right now he's not proving value for money but at any point he could haul still, thats worth holding for me for now. But admittedly after Newcastle he may have to go to fund double players

I feel like you've just supported the point somewhat. Poor finishing, overall very very flat performances from his supporting cast. All his underlying stats don't turn into points if no one's finishing his assists, and that's not something he can fix. And also his finishing has been pretty woeful (two, three goals from open play?).

WC activated! I’m free hitting GW18 and then playing bench boost in GW19.

    McCarthy | Johnstone

    James | Zouma | Lindelof | Coufal | Alioski

    Salah | Rashford | Bowen | Souchek | Sterling

    Firmino | Bamford | Rodrigo

All DGWers apart from Sterling who can become Bruno in time for GW19.

    Any changes you would make?

KDB has to go after the Newcastle game for me. Underlying stats are excellent but he's stuck in a rut and his teammates are abysmal. If it means that I can get Kane before the GW16 run, it looks well worth it. Can reassess before the BGW

Neto on 64 points, Grealish on 76, 2 million cheaper and similar fixtures, but it’s more about getting th Spurs boys in for those juicy fixtures from G/W 16 onwards 🙂

I need to strengthen my bench, but only got .5 itb - not really sure what to do here. Michell to Ayling is the only one that jumps out at me, but palace have been so abysmal defensively i wonder if he'll be getting a recall.

    Martinez
    Cancelo, Dias, Chilwell, Cresswell
    Salah, Fernandes, Son, Grealish, Soucek
    Kane

    Ryan, Wilson, Brewster, Mitchell
