Crystal Palace 2-0 Sheff Utd

  • Goals: Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.4m), Eberechi Eze (£5.8m)
  • Assist: Christian Benteke (£5.5m), James McArthur (£5.2m)
  • Bonus points: McArthur x3, James Tomkins x2 (£4.5m), Vicente Guaita x1 (£4.8m)

TYRICKSHANK RICKDEMPTION

Tyrick Mitchell (£3.9m) made a swift return to the Fantasy Premier League spotlight in Gameweek 17 as he played all 90 minutes of Crystal Palace’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

The left-back was a key component of budget defensive rotations earlier in the campaign but lost his place to Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) in Gameweek 7.

After going nine Premier League matches without registering a single minute, Mitchell came back for the Gameweek 16 draw with Leicester in what appeared to be Roy Hodgson exercising some festive rotation

However, against Sheffield United, the 21-year-old held onto the left-back berth six days after Crystal Palace’s Gameweek 16 fixture, the fact that van Aanholt was on the bench again heavily indicating Mitchell has established himself in the first team once again.

How often his 15.1% ownership will start him in the coming weeks remains to be seen considering the Eagles’ next two matches take them to Arsenal and Manchester City.

Meanwhile, their clean sheet on Saturday was just Palace’s second of the campaign, the first since Gameweek 1. And, of course, it was recorded against the Premier League’s worst attack Sheffield United, who have scored just eight goals in 17 matches so far (0.5 per game).

Still, finally having another starting defender in this price bracket could come in very handy over the coming weeks, especially with Max Kilman (£4.1m) recently losing his place for Wolves.

THAT WAS EZE

Wilfried Zaha (£7.4m) could be on the chopping board for his 22% ownership ahead of Double Gameweek 19.

Palace have just one fixture in that round, arguably one the hardest possible in a trip to Manchester City, who have the joint-best home defence this season (seven goals conceded).

He goes into the mini chip season on the back of five blanks from a possible six since Gameweek 12, his only goal in that time coming against Leicester.

In Saturday’s win over Sheffield United, the Ivory Coast international did play well, driving the ball forward for Palace’s opening goal, only to end up the assister for the assister. He crossed to Christian Benteke (£5.5m), who teed up Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.4m) for the finish.

It was Eberechi Eze (£5.8m) who stole the show against Sheffield United though, pressing into unguarded space in Sheffield United’s midfield and shrugging off Ethan Ampadu before rolling a cultured finish beyond Aaron Ramsdale (£4.7m) in first-half stoppage time.

While the former QPR man only has one goal in the last three Gameweeks, it is worth highlighting that is the same number as Zaha, who has played more minutes in that time.

After missing out on the starting XI in Gameweeks 16 and 17, any questions over Eze’s place in the team were eased by a first-half injury to Jeffrey Schlupp (£5.4m), as well as his impressive performance.

After scoring the game’s opening goal, a hamstring issue forced the former Leicester man off, which Hodgson described as “concerning”.

“[The injury to] Benteke is a dead leg. Schlupp is more concerning. A muscle injury, his hamstring.” – Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita; Mitchell, Kouyaté, Tomkins, J Ward; Schlupp (Eze 40′), Milivojevic (Riedewald 90+5′), McArthur, A Townsend; Zaha, Benteke (Ayew 48′).

Sheffield United XI (3-5-2): Ramsdale; Stevens, Egan, Ampadu; Osborn (Hackford 80′), Fleck, Norwood, Basham, Bogle; Mousset (Brewster 61′), McGoldrick.

Just upgrade Burke to a reasonable DGW option. Kane and Son v Sheffield United are probably not far off others with a DGW in terms of ceiling

I'd consider A) if KDB and City look tasty today. His fixtures are bloody amazing! Just need them to show some form!

Thinking of DCL to Ings for DGW19 if he gets through Pool game? We know his goal scoring record and consistency. Two fixtures are perfect for him away to Leeds and Leicester with their high lines. Surprised more aren’t considering him

      Defintely!

Unfortunately given my current strategy I am short of doing DCL to Ings by 0.1.

I think Ings is a very solid option for the short term (double namely)

No doubt a good option, I assume most simply struggle with his pricepoint due to premium mids and/or Kane/Vardy.

If you don't have any other issues, go for it IMO

Thoughts only plan to hold both FH and BB chips?

BGW18: TAA, Salah to Cancelo, KDB (-4) to give me 8 + Brewster & Lewis.

Martinez, Cancelo, Dias, Lewis, KDB, Bruno, Grealish, Son, Kane, Brewster.

DGW19: Son & Kane to Salah, Vardy (-4) to give 12 DGW players

    Martinez,
    Cancelo, Dias, Coufal/Dallas
    Salah, KDB, Fernandes, Grealish, Soucek,
    Vardy, Bamford.

    Forster, Coufal/Dallas, Brewster, Lewis.

    Thanks

    For DGW19 which is best?

    A. Kane > Vardy/Agureo
    B. Son & TAA > KDB & Stones (-4)
    C. TAA, Son & Kane > Cancelo/Dias, KDB & Vardy/Agureo (-4)

I know people say risky selling spurs but city have an extra fixture and two really good ones at that plus the fact spurs play Liverpool and Chelsea two of the next year GWs after this

I would want KDB but selling TAA for a hit doesn't look good to me.

Yeah I guess so. On further reflection it's probably worth it. City defenders could match or beat Pool defenders and I would expect KDB to beat Son by 4 or more.

          Go B.

What a difference a week makes in this game.

I was at an all time low in this game last week. City & Spurs games had been cancelled (had Kane/KDB/Cancelo/Dier), those of us building for BGW and planning for FH19 were feeling incredibly hard done by and I even saw some saying they would quit FPL (I didn't go that far).

Now, after City, Villa, Utd & Burnley games were added I have a really strong BGW team, can get 9 or 10 DGWers for GW19 and am well set up to ONLY play TC chip in 19.

I'm back on the FPL train now and well and truly enjoying it again (71 points this week helped too 🙂 )

Same boat, even avoided a 5th yellow for Grealish which I was convinced he was set up for against United. Could still happen, but the impact would be less intense.

It has worked out well in the end as I also am set up nicely for both gameweeks. 78 points with Dias & Salah to play.

May also TC in 19 as well

Sanchez was a great DGW captain in that mental week we all got 200+ points, but since then, it’s been GKs and DEFs that consistently come out on top. So Dallas or Martinez then?

That's the case when the doubles are close to each other and we get more rotation with attacking players. In 19 there will be plenty of rest so nobrainer to captain Salah/Bruno/KDB/Vardy imo, i'm using TC.

Cheers; will monitor this. Easy move for one of KDB/Sterling to Rashford (eugh) and then Holding to any of the city defence

Is this team OK for BGW18 or FH? (-4)

    Martinez
    Dias Stones
    Sterling Grealish Bruno
    DCL Brewster

Couple more transfers. Looks a tad weak.

But the main returns expected from Fernandez captain and MC.

I’m in a similar situation. I’m still minded to FH but your City defence is tempting

I know. The -4 would be Balbuena to Stones and Mane to Sterling. Would also improve my DGW team.

I’d be worried about having no Kane or Son. Seven was always my trigger point for FH (and I’m not counting Brewster haha)

    I was going to do
    Wc17
    Fh 18
    Bb 19

Now I’m just doing FH 19 with 10 to play in 18.

The MU fixture changed my plans. And it’s good to keep chips back for more blanks and doubles.

I’ve looked through my FH drafts and I still think it’s worth taking, even though that means burning my 2FTs. RMT reckons it would be 60ish points rather than 37ish too.

    Planning BB19

If I don’t FH, I could squeeze out 8/9 players but only 4 of those would make my FH

    What do you reckon?

    2FT 0.1ITB
    Martinez
    Holding
    Bruno Son KDB
    DCL Watkins

(McCarthy / Zouma Justin Coufal Struijk / Salah Soucek / Bamford)

    Thanks!

I would save the FH, have a tinker with who you could bring in with the 2FT for teams who also have a double - City, Villa, Burnley, United

Thanks. Only thing is, the best I can seem to do at the moment is something like DCL and Struijk to Wood and Wan-Bissaka. Other changes would mean sacrificing the likes of Salah or Zouma who I have value tied up in and would want back for DGW19.

Either way, not pulling the trigger until closer to deadline

        Cheers

So tinkering this morning I’m now thinking of just playing the TC chip in 19.

Currently have 2FT, using one for Salah to KdB gets me 9 players for BGW18 (if Mitchell plays).

    Then for DGW19, take a -4:
    - Son to Salah
    - DCL to Brewster/Davis
    - Targett to Cancelo

    This would leave me with:

    McCarthy
    Cancelo | Cresswell | Dallas
Salah | KdB (TC) | Bruno | Grealish | Soucek
    Kane | Bamford

    Steer | Lowton | Mitchell | Brewster/Davis

    Feels promising, thoughts?

The player I’ve got it on I’m unsure of - may go for Salah instead

My reason against BB in 19 as I think there will be more rest and rotation so won’t have full max out.

Therefore differential against a carefully selected 15 FH is better

Whats up with Balbuena? Dropped, rested or injured?

    Dcl*, Kane*, Bamford

    Gw18 Salah to Bruno*
Gw19 Kane, Dcl to Salah, Abraham/Rodrigo/Antonio

How many single hits will you play in DGW

Seen many times they can be more explosive. Kane and son??

      Max -8 may just do a -4.

Tempted to do Kane Son and Brewster to Vardy Aguero and 6m mid or to Barnes Ings and Aguero.

May keep Son tho and just do a -4

I’m definitely keeping Dier, Son and Kane vs SHU. In the end you’ll end up with many SGW players due to rest.
