The Gameweek 20 captaincy debate, if we can call it that, has only been about one Fantasy Premier League asset thus far: Bruno Fernandes (£11.3m).

His omission from Manchester United’s starting XI in an FA Cup win over Liverpool, which he still managed to get the winning goal in, has only made the clamour to captain him even stronger ahead of a plum fixture against Sheffield United.

Injuries and/or significant loss of goal-scoring form has hurt the usual challengers for the armband with Kevin De Bruyne (£11.9m) and Jamie Vardy (£10.1m) unavailable while Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) has blanked in five successive Premier League matches – all good news for Fernandes.

That said, does an injury to De Bruyne open up some differential options in the Manchester City side? Are there perhaps some outside picks up for grabs from the less popular teams? That’s what the Captain Sensible article is here for.

    Random question:

    What sort of FPL history over last 5 seasons does someone need to have to be thought of as ‘good’, ‘great’, ‘elite’ in your opinion?

    How would you describe a manager with finishes last 5 seasons of: 150k, 50k, 30k, 10k and 1k?

    I think something like:
    - good: average finish position over last 5 seasons of 100k
    - great: average finish position over last 5 seasons of sub 50k
    - elite: average finish position over last 5 seasons of sub 10k

          Disagree with that. Casuals with dead teams were beating me at the beginning of the season in my ML. The chaos is settled now but the start of the season was a joke for serious players... lots of luck involved

      Example my avg has been 8500, should have been under 5000 as I just punted in that hopeless 24000 rank finish season as at one stage I was very close to finishing top 100. This season I will worst case finish 8500 and best case under 5k-3k but claiming this is a sign of 'arrogance' not self confidence. So dont declare such tags in public, keep it to yourself that 'you know'

      I think he might have to wait a little bit Justin is playing great atm been one of there best players and he’s really versatile maybe he plays instead of castange but I’ll think ricardo will have to wait a little bit more to get his chance to play regularly.

      I actually just like KDB -> Son. I But if you're playing the fixtures for this week, Cancelo might be able to make up that -4. Myself, I'd be content with just the one transfer, but it's a tough call.

      For me, I'd actually play Coufal over Soucek...maybe even over Robbo. If not, I like Coufal as the top bench option. But, play your gut 🙂

      Not that it will apply but in the reverse fixtures...Dallas and Coufal returned...7 and 8 I believe and Soucek blanked. But who knows this time around?

    People who are having FH in their hand, is it worth free-hitting this GW? or FH in DGW26 is better? Anyway most of us will probably be well set-up for DGW26 anyway.

      I think it’s ideal for free hit. Don’t understand people wanting ‘better’ teams in there. The more teams in there that non FHers will be well stocked on the smaller the advantage. If you think it’ll be low scoring just play 5 at the back.

      Free Hit is a good idea, ignore the game week and plan around it so you concentrate your transfers where needed in the run up to the game week

      If you have all your chips. This looks more than ideal. No big 6 to carry around but more than 20 points on the FH. Wc 25 bb 26 fh 29 looks really good all things considered

          In the five years he has been at City how often have we ever been interested in him at the expense of, say, Sterling ?

        Keeping Robertson as a differential ( expensive but still a differential) but I still may change the GK to Leno and a 4.0. Soucek is good bench fodder imo and can be played most weeks if required.

          I kept thinking GK is useless and learnt it the hard way when Martinez kept dropping my rank. Finally just got him on WC as a set and forget. I guess Soucek if fine if you're mostly gonna play 4 at the back but spending a bit more to upgrade him could get you the likes of Maddison/Barnes/Zaha with good fixtures coming up.

      I just did Soucek to Gundo, but not for a hit. Depends on how much risk you want to take. He could definitely haul vs WBA, or he could start on the bench. So you never know with Pep at the helm....
